This is shade 17 with a deep undertone and a lot of yellow in it. The clear red tones give it a subtle plumping effect, and the honey-like shimmer is absolutely gorgeous! The finish is truly luxurious and refined. It's the kind of shade that makes you understand why people shop at department stores instead of drugstores. I've been searching everywhere for a finish like this because drugstores just don't have anything comparable. I have to admit, the shimmer is genuinely high-end and beautiful. It removes easily and doesn't last very long. When you layer it, it doesn't look as pretty. The shade doesn't really suit my skin tone, so I don't think I'll be repurchasing. I was so drawn to last year's texture that I bought it, but within a week it ended up in my sister's makeup pouch. It's glossy and melts into your lips the instant it touches your skin with an incredibly silky feel. The color payoff is absolutely gorgeous too. Honestly, this product has zero flaws—it's a total must-have. My lips are really sensitive, and whenever I use products with menthol, I always get these bumpy patches and cold sore-like irritation that sometimes even blisters. This one triggered a different kind of skin reaction... My lips started peeling like crazy, and the flakes just kept coming back and coming back until my lips were completely raw and torn up. I toughed it out for a week, but it just wasn't working, so I gave it to my sister. She loves it though, which is so frustrating for me. I started wondering what this has in common with the Hera lip product I reacted to, and I'm guessing it might be Red No. 202... Honestly, every lip product with Red No. 202 looks beautiful on everyone else. I swear I'm cursed when it comes to makeup.

Within seconds of application, your lips feel that signature tingle and cooling sensation that comes with a true lip plumper. The formula is quite soft and creamy, so the twist-up mechanism works in one direction only - you twist it up to dispense the product, but it won't go backward. Because of how buttery the texture is, you really need to twist it just a tiny bit at a time, otherwise you'll get way more product than you need on your lips. While it gives you that beautiful glossy shine you're after, the staying power isn't the strongest. I used to get really bad lip irritation from low-quality lip products, but this one is completely different - I'm obsessed! The glass-like shine is stunning, the color is gorgeous, the formula is excellent, and my lips feel so comfortable. I absolutely love Hourglass! I loved this soft rose shade for everyday wear, and the glossy finish really held up well throughout the day. Sure, some transfer is inevitable with this formula type, but the glossy feel definitely lasts longer than you'd get with a more moisturizing liquid tint. At first, I thought the yellow-gold case looked a bit dated, but when I compared it to similar melting balms, it actually felt quite luxurious and upscale. This product has virtually no color payoff, and as time goes on, the shade just fades away leaving only a white cast that makes your complexion look dull. During summer, the formula melts so easily that it's really hard to control how much you're applying, and it kept getting on my teeth. While the shimmer is pretty, it's annoying when the wind blows because your hair keeps sticking to your lips, and the staying power is pretty short overall, so it's disappointing in terms of wearability. This lip product gives your lips such a gorgeous shine! The luminous finish is absolutely stunning, and it applies beautifully. The lip color payoff really varies from person to person with this one. It has a creamy, soft texture that feels lovely on the lips. Since you dispense just what you need, if you accidentally pump out too much, it's hard to control and can get messy. If you're careful to dispense only the amount you need, it works really well. This deep undertone lip is absolutely wonderful to use! I apply a thin layer of tinted lip stain with color payoff to my lips, then layer on the Hourglass glossy balm, and it creates such a delicate, beautiful shade that I'm obsessed. Since my lips tend to get dry during winter, I usually reach for glossy lip products, and this one is always my go-to choice. Since this is a melting lip formula, it's quite sensitive to temperature changes. When it's near a heat pack or in a warm environment, it melts and becomes difficult to apply. Other than the melting issue, I'm really happy with everything else about it!

This product isn't available at Olive Young, so it's really hard to see in person, and with the price point, I just went for it based on YouTuber reviews. But wow, it's such a perfect match for me. I have a deep undertone, and if you're someone with a similar warm depth, you really need to have this in your collection! I find myself being really careful with how much I use because you have to keep it in a cool place. If it melts, it's basically ruined.
