The product line consists of three essential steps: pre-treatment, shampoo, and conditioner. Together, these three products work to restore even the most compromised hair back to health. 2. Actually, this three-step approach to repairing severely damaged hair wasn't invented by L'Oréal Bond Repair. It was first introduced by Kérastase's Resistance line, which has since been discontinued. That line also featured a pre-treatment, shampoo, and conditioner system. Now, the pre-treatment called Soin Thérapiste has been discontinued, but the shampoo and conditioner are still available through authorized Kérastase retailers. 3. Looking back at a review I posted on another site from 2019, I was absolutely obsessed with the Soin Thérapiste pre-treatment from the Kérastase Resistance line. The reason was beautifully simple: silicone-free products were incredibly rare back then, and this was the only one that didn't cause scalp irritation or buildup. 4. When Soin Thérapiste was discontinued and I finally used up my last bottle, my hair became so damaged and dry that I seriously considered cutting off my long hair. That's how much I loved this product! 5. Since L'Oréal and Kérastase are part of the same parent company, I kept hoping a similar product would eventually be released. And finally, it happened! I purchased it at lightning speed. 6. Just to be safe, I also bought the shampoo and conditioner from the same line, but unfortunately, they didn't work for me at all. I experienced scalp irritation, itching, and weeping bumps. I really struggled with them. If you have a sensitive scalp, I'd strongly advise against the shampoo and conditioner! 7. However, this pre-treatment is absolutely wonderful. Of course, I miss the original Soin Thérapiste I used before, but I'm trying not to dwell on that comparison. Here's the thing about silicone-free products: just because they're labeled silicone-free doesn't mean they won't cause irritation or itching. But this product worked beautifully for me, thankfully! 8. Even though it's called a treatment, this product has an incredibly lightweight, almost emulsion-like texture. If you're thinking about using it as a hair mask or regular conditioner after shampooing, you'll be disappointed. It simply won't work that way. You absolutely must use it as a pre-treatment for it to be effective. Keep this in mind before purchasing. 9. Since finding a silicone-free product that doesn't cause irritation is so difficult for me, I use this product in multiple ways. If something feels off about my experience, just read the review, think it's unique to me, and move on! 1) Using it as a reverse treatment (essentially as a pre-treatment): After squeezing out excess water from your hair, apply the product and massage it through like a conditioner. Then immediately shampoo with the matching shampoo from the line. Follow up with a hair mask for even better results. I don't use this method daily—it's especially tedious in the morning. But I try to use it as often as possible, and I definitely do it on evenings when I wash my hair. I notice my hair feels noticeably more nourished for about two days afterward. 2) Using it like a rinse: On busy mornings, I sometimes mix a small amount with a lightweight rinse or conditioner, apply it once more, and rinse lightly. This creates a coating effect that makes my hair feel softer. 3) Mixing it with hair oil: I apply a small amount like a hair emulsion before using hair oil. This reduces the amount of oil I need and prevents my hair from looking too greasy. 4) Using it like a leave-in treatment: I use just a tiny amount and apply it before blow-drying. If you have an oily scalp or oily hair, skip this method. 5) As a finishing touch, I sometimes mix it with a curl cream gel from Jennyhouse. I do this because the product could use a bit more moisture. I'm so happy my favorite product is back! 10. Since using this product, my hair—which was severely damaged from coloring—has improved dramatically. I actually find that pre-treating with this product before shampooing works better than using a hair mask alone, and it leaves my hair less greasy while supporting scalp health. I especially appreciate that silicone-free hair products are so hard to find, so I love that I can use small amounts and still get protective benefits. I wish it came in a larger 500ml bottle with a shampoo-style pump dispenser! The texture is too thin, and the container is a bit inconvenient. A pump bottle like the shampoo would be much more practical.
