The trick is applying it carefully from the start, though I'll admit it takes me a bit of practice to get it right! The downside is that it stains cups pretty badly, so you might get some teasing about it. And if you slip outside your lip line while applying, you'll need to correct your base and start over, which can be frustrating. Here's a tip that works for me: I apply it just to the center of my lips and then tap it out with my finger to create a gradient effect. Just keep in mind that this technique works best when your lips are in good condition. This red is absolutely perfect! It looks gorgeous applied full coverage, and it's just as beautiful blended out with a gradient effect! Ruby really seems to nail every look. Out of all the lip products flooding the market, this is the only one I keep coming back to repurchase! It does feel quite dry and tight on the lips. I wouldn't recommend it if you're dealing with flaky or peeling skin. It looks so much more stunning when you apply a lip primer from MAC underneath first!

After trying everything else, I keep coming back to this lipstick... For cool tones, the red shade Ruby is absolutely the best. It's not as finicky with undertones as I expected, and when you apply it with a light hand, the color is absolutely stunning. Just keep in mind that it has a very matte finish. It's definitely different from the trendy tints and lipsticks with better wear comfort that are out there now.
