There's one product I haven't purchased yet—the Calendula Mask. People say calendula works well for atopic or sensitive skin, but here's the thing: calendula is actually a flower, and contrary to what many believe, it often doesn't work well for atopic or sensitive skin. That's been my experience too, so I'm a bit hesitant to use it. I thought about buying a smaller size to test it out first, but honestly, I have so many favorite products already that I'm swamped just using those. I don't really have time to experiment with calendula right now! Out of these four products, this Blackberry Mask is actually my absolute favorite, and I'm buying it for the second time. I should have written a review sooner, but since this is my first one, I'm feeling a bit of pressure! This product is a wash-off clay mask designed for dry skin or sensitive skin that leans toward dryness. If you have oily or oily-leaning skin, this might be too nourishing for you. I'd actually recommend the Tea Tree Soothing or Lemon Niacinamide Vitamin Mask instead. Now let me get into the full review. Pros, Cons, and Overall Thoughts 1. French Green and Pink Clay—specifically fine particles from the volcanic terrain of Orberge, France—makes this clay mask excellent for pore cleansing. Even though I have dry skin, I apply heavy anti-aging serums over barrier creams regularly, so when I look in the mirror right after waking up before cleansing, I can see my pores stretched vertically. I always feel like I need a pore-cleansing treatment about once a week. When I use oily-skin clay masks, they feel too tight and can easily compromise my skin barrier. So I really needed a clay mask specifically for dry skin, and this one is amazing! When I apply it thinly with a mask brush and leave it on for about 10 minutes, it dries with a slight tightening sensation and then comes off smoothly. 2. The product contains 6,000 ppm of raw blackberry, which is supposed to provide antioxidant benefits—that's what the product description claims. Honestly, I've gone through a whole jar, but I can't really tell if my face is experiencing those antioxidant effects or not! What I really loved was another advantage: you can actually see fine blackberry powder particles embedded throughout the formula. However, I initially thought these particles weren't thick enough to act like beads for exfoliation when rolling, but it turns out they do provide very gentle exfoliation. After using a whole jar, I noticed that my skin stays free from dead skin concerns for about 2-3 days after using this mask. 3. So here's the key: after it dries for 10 minutes, don't just rinse it off with water! Instead, apply a cleansing milk on top, massage and roll it 2-3 times to emulsify, then cleanse. This rolling motion will give you an exfoliating effect. If you want even more effective exfoliation, you can mix a gentle exfoliant into your cleansing milk and roll it on. This way, you'll get a gentler physical scrub effect without too much irritation. 4. Another great advantage: while the Marie&Me Rose Mask leaves your skin feeling hydrated and bouncy without tightness, this Blackberry Mask combines pore cleansing, exfoliation, and hydration without dryness. It basically gives you all the benefits of the Rose Mask plus that healthy, revitalized skin feeling. Even though the product name includes "glos" or something similar, I didn't really get that glossy feeling. What I loved most was how my skin texture and elasticity improved after using it. That was definitely the best part! 5. Drawbacks: 1) It's a bit of a hassle I absolutely love wash-off masks—I could use them every single day if needed. But even I find myself less motivated to use wash-off masks in winter because of the cold. Still, I used both the Rose Mask and this Blackberry Mask very frequently, especially whenever my skin felt dry. 2) It feels dry while drying Since I have extremely dry skin, there are times when even these two masks feel too drying. In those cases, I sometimes mix in a Ceramide Shot Ampoule or blend in Uriage PSO Cream before applying. 3) It's hard to rinse off completely Clay masks, especially ones with raw ingredients or powders like this, aren't easy to cleanse off. If you try to rinse it with just water while it's dry, it'll take forever. Just use a cleansing milk, cleansing balm, or cleansing oil instead—it comes off so quickly! Trying to rinse with water alone can actually irritate your skin more. Using a cleansing product makes the process so much faster. For your second cleanse, just use a pH-balanced cleanser. 6. While Hwahae does sell Marie&Me products, they're actually much cheaper on Naver Store, and they have sales frequently. I hope you shop wisely! There are no drawbacks. It's a bit inconvenient during cleansing, but if you use a cleansing milk, oil, or balm and roll it on, you'll get an even better exfoliating effect.
