Right after application, it has a glossy finish, but it quickly sets onto the lips and becomes matte. It doesn't transfer onto masks, and the color lasts really well. I'm here to write this review because I really hope this product never gets discontinued. Honestly, I've tried so many long-wear tint formulas from other brands, and they all have their issues. Some get patchy and chalky, others create harsh lines between my lips and the surrounding skin, some make my lips feel tight and shriveled, and plenty of them smudge the second they touch water. But this one? None of that happens. I switched to it immediately and haven't looked back. I've tested two shades, and they both look absolutely stunning on me. If you're a warm-toned person, don't be intimidated by how it looks on the back of your hand, I promise! I'm a deep warm tone myself, and the color transforms completely once you apply it to your lips. Please, please do a swatch test on your actual lips before deciding! The only thing missing is better marketing. I wish the brand would advertise more like other companies do. Here's the key: you absolutely have to apply it and then gently blend it with your finger, or press it into your lips to create that blurred effect. When I apply it, it starts out like a gel tint, flowing on smoothly like a water tint, and then suddenly it becomes this wonderfully powdery finish! I've never experienced a formula like this before, so it's really fascinating but honestly hard to put into words. The trick is to use less product at first and apply it thinly, then take a bit more and dab it on the inner part of my lips and blend it out with a tapping motion for the most even coverage. The color is this amazing thing that's neither pink nor orange, you know? On my lips, it looks like pink with just a hint of neon and a touch of orange! (The photo is taken under natural light) I usually go for super hydrating tints, but I didn't find this matte tint to be drying at all. That said, I can see how some people who really love that dewy feel might find it a bit dry. But here's the thing, it absolutely does not emphasize lip texture or create those harsh, cracked lines that some matte formulas do!
