Sustainable Beauty: Almang Shop Gets a Thumbs Up I'm in my first year of zero-waste living, and while I've completely overhauled my bathroom routine, switching to sustainable skincare felt intimidating at first. So when I had an excuse to visit Seoul, I stopped by Almang Shop and picked up some products. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Monaju offers so much more than just creams. Being able to purchase exactly the amount I wanted of their cream and lip balm was fantastic! I really hope I can keep finding these products at Almang Shop and other zero-waste retailers. Skin Type: Combination Usage: 17 days during winter (starting 23.12.23) 1. Hydration and Lasting Power (My Personal Take) Hydration Level: Moderate to Good Lasting Power: Moderate Even though I applied this during winter, I didn't experience that uncomfortable dryness or tightness by evening. I used to rely on a popular cica cream during summer, but when I tried it in fall, it felt way too dry and I kept having to reapply it constantly. It was so frustrating. After switching to Monaju cream, I only need one application and my skin stays comfortable all day without needing to touch it up. I wouldn't say the hydration and lasting power are absolutely incredible, but based on my experience trying countless creams, this one definitely delivers solid results. I keep notes on every skincare product I try in my phone, and I mark down which ones I'd consider repurchasing next season. Monaju cream is definitely going on that list. 2. Oil Content This cream has a noticeable amount of oil, but it doesn't leave my face feeling heavy or congested. For winter, the oil content is just right. Compared to the cica creams I used before, this one definitely has less oil, which I appreciate. That said, it's not the lightest formula, so I wouldn't recommend it for those with very oily skin or for summer use. Since I'm using it during winter, I actually love that the oil content helps boost hydration. It works perfectly for the season. 3. Application It spreads smoothly and evenly. I really like that it's not too thick or heavy. 4. Irritation: None My skin tends to be sensitive when I switch products around. This cream didn't dramatically improve my skin, but it also didn't trigger any breakouts or irritation. My skin feels calm and comfortable. 5. Value for Money I refilled the 20g size and after using it for over two weeks, I still have half left. A little goes a long way with this formula, so you don't need much per application. This means it lasts much longer than expected. I'd estimate a 100ml bottle would last about five months. 1. Limited Availability and Accessibility I was disappointed by the limited availability. I couldn't find this product in physical stores, which was a letdown. It seems online purchase is the only option, and that's a real drawback for me. I prefer to test products in-store before buying. As someone living outside Seoul, I can't easily visit Almang Shop whenever I want, which is really frustrating. Recommended Season: Winter As someone with combination skin, I'd definitely recommend this for winter use. It might feel too heavy for summer. It has this rich, creamy texture that feels so luxurious. The application is really smooth and easy to work with. If you have acne-prone or sensitive skin, please avoid this product. It completely broke me out and felt so irritating that my skin was genuinely painful.

It absorbs beautifully without any sticky residue, leaving your skin feeling soft and silky to the touch. I honestly couldn't find anything to complain about while using this product. Expectant mothers can use this, but please avoid applying it directly to newborns. My skin suddenly became really dry, so I tried that famous moisturizing product for a bit. But then my skin broke out badly, and I went back to being an emulsion nomad, constantly switching products. That's when I discovered this gem! It's just as hydrating as that other product, but without any irritation or breakouts. I'm genuinely thrilled with it. Compared to other heavy moisturizers, it's not sticky at all (though it's not super lightweight either), and it spreads beautifully on the skin. Here's another amazing thing: at the Refillery store locations, you can bring back your empty container and they'll refill just the product inside separately. I absolutely love that feature too! This barrier cream is helping me reduce waste and live more sustainably. I really hope to keep finding this at the Refillery store forever. There's nothing I dislike about it. I just have one request: please don't discontinue this product. Keep making it for us!
