I really appreciated that this is a leave-in treatment - it's so convenient and hassle-free The instructions said to apply it mainly to the scalp, but when I do, it leaves my hair looking stiff and clumpy like I've used mousse. Plus, my strands don't feel moisturized at all

The scent is a bit like toothpaste? It has a slightly sharp smell, but it becomes fragrance-free once applied to hair. While the instructions say to apply it to both scalp and hair, I can't apply it directly to my sensitive scalp because it contains ingredients like PEG and ethanol that aren't ideal for my skin. Instead, I apply it close to the scalp. Even though I have a blunt bob with thin, sparse hair, I need to pump it about four times for complete coverage. I'm using it sparingly because it runs out quickly, the amount is small, and it's pricey. The ingredients aren't great, but here's why I still use it carefully: volume is something I can't achieve with my thin, limp hair and oily scalp. This nioxin treatment is fantastic for oily hair types because it has no slick residue. The foam absorbs directly into the hair as if you haven't applied anything at all. My hair feels smooth without any greasy buildup, and oil actually takes longer to appear. Sometimes other treatments or essences can easily make hair greasy, but this nioxin treatment doesn't cause any clumping no matter how much I apply. There's a slightly rough, clumpy texture like when you use wax or spray, but that's actually what makes it work so well. When I blow-dry, I get volume that holds in place beautifully. At first, I wondered if it was even working since it absorbs so quickly, but my hair texture has become as soft as with a regular treatment, and it has a calming effect too. I wish there was more product. The price is quite steep, and I'm disappointed that it contains PEG and ethanol in the formula.
