Retinol typically tends to cause irritation and dryness (since it promotes cell turnover), but even at 1%, this formula feels less irritating and drying compared to other products in the early stages, which actually made me question whether it was working. That said, the texture is hydrating and feels gentle, which are real advantages. You'll notice changes starting around day 2 to 3 after application. Nothing happens on day one, but then flaking begins on the treated areas (keep this in mind when applying makeup), and you'll gradually see your skin becoming smoother and more radiant. Don't pick at the flaking skin when it appears. Seriously, don't do it. You could end up damaging your skin while trying to improve it with retinol.
