Retinol seems like one of the more stable skincare products out there? But honestly, you don't really need to apply such a high concentration. I used to be obsessed with seeing dramatic results... After using this, there were times when my face would feel super flaky and tight the next day, like my skin was completely dehydrated. But now for some reason, the effectiveness has dropped off. The price is honestly the best thing about it... but apparently you shouldn't use retinol in your early twenties. When you apply it to irritated skin, your face goes absolutely haywire. You can only use it when your skin is healthy. Even when I first started using it, my skin was acting up, but now that I'm used to it, it doesn't seem to work anymore. What do I do? I basically threw my money away. Start with a lower concentration first. Don't mix it with other irritating ingredients. Only use it alongside gentle, soothing products. To get straight to the point, this product definitely delivers results for skin texture and pore refinement. Retinol typically tends to cause irritation and dryness (since it promotes cell turnover), but even at 1%, this formula feels less irritating and drying compared to other products in the early stages, which actually made me question whether it was working. That said, the texture is hydrating and feels gentle, which are real advantages. You'll notice changes starting around day 2 to 3 after application. Nothing happens on day one, but then flaking begins on the treated areas (keep this in mind when applying makeup), and you'll gradually see your skin becoming smoother and more radiant. Don't pick at the flaking skin when it appears. Seriously, don't do it. You could end up damaging your skin while trying to improve it with retinol. It's interesting because even though the retinol concentration is high and you can visibly see the cell turnover, I haven't noticed the same improvement in red marks that I've seen with other retinol products.
