Impressive staying power! The vanilla-like scent is absolutely lovely. Once it sets on your skin, it stays put and doesn't budge no matter what. The texture is way too sticky, which makes it uncomfortable even when you're trying to sleep. It feels suffocating, honestly. Because of how sticky it is, I find myself avoiding using it. Since it comes in a jar without an applicator, you have to scoop it out with your fingers, which raises hygiene concerns. I originally bought this tint a while back but set it aside because the formula felt too heavy for regular use. I finally started using it recently though, and I'm really impressed! My lips tend to get dry and flaky throughout the year, but when I apply this generously before bed, I wake up with incredibly smooth and supple lips. It's amazing! Plus, a little goes a long way with this product. I use just small amounts each time, so I feel like this will last me forever. The formula is extremely thick and stiff—way beyond just being creamy. With products like this, I usually melt it with my fingertips before applying, but this one doesn't melt smoothly on the surface. When it does start to melt, it becomes sticky and gluey, making it really difficult to apply evenly to my lips. Because of this, I've resorted to using a cotton swab to apply it instead. While it does exfoliate well, the dead skin it removes is hard to wipe away the next day. I normally cleanse with warm water, but this product has such a strong oil-based coating that regular cleansers and water won't remove it. This lip balm really stays put on your lips and keeps them moisturized. It comes in a solid stick form with a firm, buttery texture and has no fragrance. Plus, the packaging has that exclusive, trendy vibe that Rare Kind is known for. It's way too sticky. The formula is so tacky that it doesn't wash off easily, and even drinking water or rinsing with water doesn't remove it completely. I wish it were a bit less sticky. Since I got this as a complimentary gift with my lipstick purchase, it honestly feels like a freebie product. Also, because it comes in a solid stick form, it picks up dust pretty easily. If you apply it before bed and sleep with it on, the lip treatment stays on until morning and really helps soften any dry patches. However, I wouldn't recommend applying it right before your morning makeup routine.

Another downside is that this comes as a limited edition bonus item with lip products, so once you finish it, you can't repurchase it separately. The scent is a subtle vanilla, which some people might love and others might not prefer, but personally I think it's pleasant enough. I've been using the Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Mask for quite a while, so I'll compare it with this product to give you a detailed breakdown. Application and stickiness RareKind applies much more smoothly. When you scoop it up and place it on your lips, it melts with your body heat and glides on beautifully. Aritaum, on the other hand, really does just sit on top of your lips - that's honestly the best way to describe how it applies. It doesn't blend as seamlessly. That said, I've used Aritaum for so long that I'm not sure if that's actually a drawback or just what I'm used to. Either way, both formulas stay on until morning and keep your lips feeling hydrated. The stickiness is similar between the two, though if I had to pick, Aritaum feels a bit more tacky. Scent RareKind has a caramel fragrance. Aritaum smells fresh and citrusy, kind of like lemon. Personally, I'm not a fan of overly sweet scents, so I wasn't thrilled with RareKind's fragrance. Moisture retention after application Honestly, I think both perform pretty similarly in this department. The only real complaint I have is the scent, which just wasn't my personal preference. This is absolutely amazing! I use a ton of matte lipstick, so I've tried countless lip balms like Vaseline, Carmex, and other brands, but this one is something special. Vaseline gives similar results when applied heavily, but I love that this doesn't melt from body heat and doesn't end up in my mouth like Vaseline does. The texture is super rich and firm, not creamy at all, so it's not like a typical lip balm that melts on application. I actually had to press and rub it on with some pressure at first. Got Rare Kind Lip for free and I'm really impressed. It gives me the same moisturizing feel as the Aritaum Ginger Lip Mask, which I love. The texture is rich and creamy, so when I apply it generously before bed, my lips feel noticeably softer and healthier the next morning. It's similar to Vaseline and other lip masks in that you really need a lip brush or cotton swab to apply it properly. Using your fingers feels messy because there's quite a bit of product, which is a little inconvenient.

The texture is really thick and firm, honestly. When I first tried applying it, I couldn't get it to spread smoothly, so I had to use some pressure to work it onto my lips. To be honest, the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask felt too lightweight for a sleeping mask, so I was a bit disappointed. But this one feels richer and more substantial compared to Laneige. It has this chocolate scent... it's quite nice... It's a bit tricky to apply. The formula is really stiff, and it tends to migrate toward the edges of my lips. When I apply it to the inner part of my lips, it just creeps outward. I use this together with the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask on my lips. I find that this richer formula works great for the outer edges of my lips, while the lighter Laneige formula is perfect for the center of my lips. When I scoop it out with my fingernail, apply a generous amount to my lips, and sleep with it on, my lips stay in great condition the next day even after I put on matte lipstick 2. Scent It has a subtle lemon fragrance But it's not that typical sweet lemon candy smell It's genuinely fresh and zesty lemon scent! The fragrance isn't overpowering and it's subtle, so applying it actually lifts my mood 3. Texture I think this is something people might have different opinions on It has a thick, sticky texture Since it applies as a rich, substantial layer, I'd recommend testing it first! If you're using it as a lip treatment before bed, it's totally fine But if you want to carry it around and apply it throughout the day, definitely test the texture first 1. Availability While regular lip products are easy to find, this lip mask is hard to track down I actually bought the lip version and only got the mask as a sample I'm confused why RareKind doesn't promote their lip mask more Why are they keeping this hidden...?? Before bed, I scoop out a generous amount with my fingernail and apply it thickly to my lips before sleeping The next morning when I wake up, I wipe it off with a tissue or makeup remover wipe before washing my face Then I don't have to worry about flaking all day!
