This cool-toned red has such a striking, icy vibe that instantly reminds me of a ruby. The texture of Rare Kind is truly unique and special. Even though the color payoff and lasting power are decent, the adhesion just isn't there—it smudges and transfers everywhere.

Since I don't usually wear makeup but always have a lip color on, I tend to buy based on color alone. Big mistake. This turned out to be a pretty-looking product that just doesn't work for me. First off, the staying power is really disappointing. I've seen other people apply it by first laying down a tint base on their lips, then using their fingers or a brush to blend it in, and they say that helps with adhesion. I get that logic, but honestly, even with a brush instead of fingers, I can barely get it to stay put. Also, maybe it's just my lips, but this tint is incredibly finicky about lip condition. If you have any flakiness or skip even a little bit on lip care, you'll get these harsh lines showing up after application. At first I thought I was just applying it wrong, but I found comments from other people in beauty influencer videos experiencing the exact same issue. No matter how much I tried to press it in with my fingers, it just wouldn't adhere properly. This product excels at creating beautiful gradient effects the more you apply it. It has excellent spreadability and glides on smoothly for effortless application.
