It gives your hair a carbon-like matte look that's absolutely stunning. While the matte finish might seem dry at first, it's surprisingly smooth and works beautifully for slicked-back styles with a comb. Since it's water-based, it's super easy to wash out. The formula feels like a firm clay or thick cream, just as the name suggests. Because it's water-based, the hold isn't incredibly strong, so you'll want to finish with a light spray. The scent is subtle and reminds me of toothpaste, which isn't really my thing. Restyling can be a bit tricky. Usually with water-based pomades, you just add water to restyle, but if you're not careful with this one, it can get clumpy when you wet it. You need to be quick and precise when reshaping your style. It does seem like it'll transfer onto your hands quite a bit. Use about three-quarters to two-thirds of your usual pomade amount, then lock it in with spray for the best results.
