The toner that came with it really made a difference - when I used them together, the cooling effect was seriously amplified. I run regularly and spend a lot of time outdoors, so my scalp gets irritated and red pretty easily. This cooling product works great on its own - I could feel the heat reducing right away. But when I used it with the included toner before blow-drying, that refreshing sensation lasted for hours. I also had a flaking issue recently from using another product incorrectly, but after using just this shampoo and toner without a treatment rinse, the flaking went down dramatically. If you have an oily scalp, I think you'll really love this! What works: Cooling and heat control - Yes. Reduces flaking - Yes. Long-lasting freshness and oil control - Yes. The one thing I wish was different: Since the cooling effect is so incredible when used with the toner, I'm a bit worried it might feel underwhelming if I use the shampoo alone.

The only thing is that your hair might feel a bit dry and stiff after washing, so I'd recommend applying a good essence or doing a treatment afterward to help.
