The smell is really mild and pleasant, which was such a relief! Unlike regular permanent dyes that have that harsh chemical odor, this one feels more like mixing watercolors, making the whole application process so much easier and more enjoyable. Applying it was straightforward too. I just shampooed it through my hair evenly, and there was barely any scalp irritation, so I think even people with sensitive skin would be comfortable using it. Right after dyeing, the color came out pretty dark, but after a few days it settled into a natural, sophisticated dark brown tone. In sunlight, it has this gorgeous warm undertone with subtle reddish reflections that looks really luxurious. Overall, this is the perfect product if you're looking for an easy way to cover gray hairs. If you're searching for a hair dye that's gentle and doesn't have that overwhelming chemical smell, I think you'll be really happy with this one. Since it's a semi-permanent dye, the color does fade fairly quickly (it starts getting noticeably lighter after 2-3 weeks). I've used this spray hair color about 3 times for covering hair loss, and I haven't experienced any skin irritation issues. I feel so much safer using water instead of harsh dual-chemical formulas. The color takes beautifully, and my hair feels silky and shiny. It's not completely safe for coloring, unfortunately. It contains potentially harmful ingredients like m-aminophenol. This product is really gentle, and I've given it to my mom five times now. It colors beautifully without any issues, so I'm very happy with it! It doesn't mix well in cold water at all... No harsh chemical smell, though I can't speak to other benefits. I bought a year's supply and now I'm worried I made a mistake. I trusted that this was a gentle hair dye and bought a year's worth, but after my first coloring session, my scalp got really itchy and irritated. When I checked the ingredients, I found PPD in there. Don't just assume something is gentle and go for it. This product dissolves really well in water, and if you mix it thoroughly before letting it set, you won't see any powder residue and it transforms into a smooth, creamy texture. I loved that it comes in a dedicated applicator bottle that makes it so easy to apply to your hair. The formula is packed with great ingredients and doesn't irritate my scalp at all. I was pleasantly surprised by how close it is to true black! The gray coverage is excellent, and while there is some color fading over a few days, it's not dramatic. The scent is lovely and there's no stinging sensation, so I'm really happy with this product. I'm definitely going to try another shade next time. Even applying it solo to just the gray areas works fine, and I found that rubbing it in with my fingers actually helps it absorb better. It seems to affect everyone differently. For me, there was no stinging and no swelling or pain, but my mom had a completely different experience. After using it, her scalp became extremely irritated and her face swelled up so badly that she had to get medication prescribed. The formula contains ginkgo biloba, which is typically used as a substitute for lacquer resin. Since my mom has a lacquer allergy and is also somewhat sensitive to ginkgo biloba, she thought it would be okay after the first day and decided to keep using the product. However, starting from the second day, her scalp developed blisters and became severely inflamed and swollen, and her entire face puffed up. If you have a sensitivity or allergy to lacquer resin or ginkgo biloba, it's probably best to avoid this product.
