This brightening ingredient delivers more effective results than niacinamide. It has a slightly sticky, gel-like texture, but the tackiness disappears once you apply cream afterward. - by****Da hỗn hợpĐược đề xuất14/08/2025 (UTC+0)
I've been getting so many compliments on how much my skin has improved lately. I bought the niacinamide set and I'm using both products together, and they're working really well for me. There's a slight ramen-like scent that comes through, which is a bit of an unexpected side effect that might make you feel a little hungry. This ingredient breaks down with temperature changes and oxidizes when exposed to air, so you'll want to store it in the refrigerator and use it quickly to make sure it absorbs properly into your skin. - tu*********Da hỗn hợpDa mụnLàm sáng da / Đốm thâmBã nhờn / Mụn đầu đenĐược đề xuất11/08/2025 (UTC+0)
I love how this product makes blemishes and imperfections seem to fade away. There's something really satisfying about applying it—it gives me that peace of mind that I'm actually taking care of my skin. And honestly, the spots do look noticeably lighter, so it really works! There's not really anything bad about it, to be honest. If I had to nitpick, I'd say you definitely need to wear sunscreen with this, so I only used it in the evenings. - ad******Da khôDa nhạy cảmĐược đề xuất11/07/2025 (UTC+0)
I used to avoid this brand because other niacinamide products felt so heavy and occlusive on my skin, but this one is completely different! It doesn't feel thick at all, and it's absolutely perfect for summer. There's zero stickiness, and it dries down so cleanly that it feels like you're not wearing anything. If you have dry skin, just layer a moisturizer on top and you're all set. This is definitely my go-to product for hot weather! There's nothing major to complain about, but since it's sensitive to sunlight, I only use it at night. Just make sure you're applying sunscreen during the day! I keep mine in the fridge and apply it right after cleansing for that refreshing, cooling sensation. If your skin feels tight, don't skip the moisturizer afterward—I always layer one on top. I personally stick to using this at night only.

This serum contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, so there's definitely a moisturizing coating effect on the skin surface. 2. Arbutin is known as a great brightening ingredient, but in my opinion, when combined with high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, that coating sensation suggests it doesn't absorb as well as I'd hoped. 3. The previous formula before the reformulation had lactic acid in it, and I experienced severe skin irritation before I could even see results. Such a shame... 4. Lately, I've been experiencing the miracle of dark spots disappearing with AMOREPACIFIC's 40% Vitamin C mask, so I thought about adding more boosters. I decided to give arbutin a try, and after testing several products, I realized arbutin really works well for my skin. 5. That's why I looked into The Ordinary, which I trust most among ingredient-focused brands. I noticed the newly reformulated product no longer contains lactic acid, so I bought it right away. I use this as a pure essence, but to improve its absorption and increase the arbutin concentration, I get creative with my mixing. 6. Specifically, I blend arbutin 2% + tranexamic acid 4% + niacinamide 10% serum from another brand (ANUA TXA Niacinamide Essence Serum), and then mix in Wellage Hyaluronic Acid Ampoule, which uses liposome technology to break down both low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for better absorption, in a 1:1:1 ratio. I've been applying this custom blend of about 90ml (which costs roughly 47,000 won for three bottles of ingredients - pretty affordable!) for over two months. 7. So far, no irritation or issues whatsoever. 1) The hydration is absolutely incredible 2) Thanks to niacinamide, my skin texture has improved noticeably 3) Whether it's from the vitamin or arbutin, my complexion looks so much brighter 8. I really don't recommend using The Ordinary Arbutin Serum on its own. 9. Korean beauty brands that constantly invest in research and have advanced facilities are truly superior. Try experimenting like I do! Since this is an imported product, the shelf life is quite short. I've noticed that buying from Coupang often gets you products with longer expiration dates compared to Olive Young. I'd recommend shopping on Coupang instead. Since this is an ingredient-focused formula, I don't recommend using it alone.
ki**********Da khôLàm sáng da / Đốm thâmKhô từ bên trongNếp nhăn / Độ đàn hồiĐược đề xuất17/06/2025 (UTC+0)My skin tone is naturally fair, but I'm prone to freckles and dark spots. Because of this, I'm always mindful of sun damage and apply sunscreen regularly. But after the intense summer heat passes, I inevitably end up with a few more freckles like badges of honor. So I've made it a habit to incorporate brightening ingredients like vitamin C, niacinamide, and arbutin into my skincare routine. I started using this The Ordinary Arbutin Serum without much expectation since it came as part of a set, but it turned out to be gentler, more hydrating, and so easy to use that I went through an entire bottle. And it actually seems to work! (Though I should mention I've been mixing in additional arbutin concentrate to boost the concentration, which might have contributed to better results.) We're only at the beginning of summer, but despite being quite active, my blemishes haven't increased—they've stayed the same. At my age, just maintaining is a win, so I'm thrilled. Plus, my skin tone looks noticeably clearer. The formula is transparent, virtually fragrance-free (though there's a slight raw material scent), and gentle. For a product with brightening benefits, it's remarkably non-irritating, which is why I especially recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin who wants to use brightening ingredients. I picked up a helpful tip about misting before applying hyaluronic acid, so I always spray twice before application. This prevents pilling and keeps everything feeling hydrated throughout. I typically follow this with a hydrating gel cream, and it pairs beautifully with lightweight cream formulas. I don't use it during the day for two reasons: 1. When hyaluronic acid is mixed in, it usually causes sunscreen and makeup to pill. 2. I use a vitamin C serum during the day, so there's no room in my routine for this product. For those experiencing pilling, I wonder if it might be from layering too many base or makeup products before and after this serum rather than an issue with the product itself. The issue isn't really with the arbutin serum itself, but rather with The Ordinary's Korean distribution. Most imported products arrive with manufacturing dates over a year old. I see plenty of customer complaints about this in the reviews, but nothing seems to change, which suggests there are problems with the supply chain and inventory management. While it's technically within the expiration date so there's no major concern, it does feel uncomfortable to use. You can purchase alpha-arbutin concentrate from cosmetic ingredient websites and add a few drops to boost effectiveness. ****How arbutin inhibits tyrosinase: Arbutin competitively inhibits tyrosinase, the key enzyme in melanin synthesis. Because arbutin's structure is similar to tyrosine, it binds to the enzyme's active site instead, blocking the conversion of tyrosine into melanin.
