As someone who's obsessed with retinol, I've tried The Ordinary's retinol that everyone raves about, and while it does have a bit of a kick to it, I'm really impressed! When I see how amazing my skin looks the next day, I'm convinced it's worth it. Retinol really is the real deal! It does lean on the oily side, so getting the amount right can be a little tricky. For me personally, just 2-3 drops is the perfect amount to cover my entire face and neck without overdoing it. I love using this with my beauty device because it glides so smoothly and feels less irritating that way. It's such a game-changer for my routine!

Here's why: if you skip these steps, there's a 99% chance you'll experience irritation. I learned this the hard way when I jumped straight to 0.5% and dealt with some serious side effects. You might wonder why I kept using it despite the irritation. When I first started with retinol, it wasn't as widely available as it is today. So I went back to 0.2% and slowly built up my skin's tolerance. That's when I noticed my complexion starting to glow. From that point on, I gradually worked my way up to 1%, and honestly, I only use three tiny drops of the 1% formula. Three drops is plenty because it's incredibly potent. There's no need to use more when a little goes such a long way. Here's the most important tip: always pair it with a rich regenerating cream. The results are literally doubled. Since 1% is already quite strong, I don't recommend using it with just a lightweight hydrating cream because your skin can become extremely dry. After spending time learning about skincare and cosmetics, I've discovered that retinaldehyde is now available as a more stable alternative to retinol. So I'm planning to use this 1% product on my body and switch to 0.5% for my face. Make sure you start with a different concentration level and don't forget to apply it together with a regenerating cream. I found it works wonderfully when you mix it with a body emulsion and apply it to your body. It's especially effective on areas where you want to speed up cell turnover, like elbows, knees, and heels. - qk**********Da thiếu nướcLàm sáng da / Đốm thâmBã nhờn / Mụn đầu đenQuầng thâm mắtKhô từ bên trongNếp nhăn / Độ đàn hồiLỗ chân lông toTế bào da chếtĐược đề xuất08/10/2025 (UTC+0)
I didn't experience any irritation, which was great. However, it's quite oily, so the absorption takes a bit longer than I'd like. That said, I did notice my skin felt less greasy overall, which was a nice bonus. It's too oily. The shelf life is shorter than expected. When you use the dropper, it drips everywhere messily. - rl****Da hỗn hợpLàm sáng da / Đốm thâmKhô từ bên trongNếp nhăn / Độ đàn hồiLỗ chân lông toMẩn đỏĐược đề xuất23/09/2025 (UTC+0)
I've been using this since summer this year. I was using a retinol cream, but the cream formula felt way too oily for me. So here's what I did: I filled a 200ml toner bottle about 4/5 of the way, added The Ordinary Retinol 1% with the dropper three times, and applied it three times a day, shaking it before each use. The biggest change I noticed was that my pores actually shrank compared to before. My skin also became so much firmer and bouncier. Now that it's fall and my skin produces less oil, I've been adding about seven pumps of emulsion to the mixture to get that dewy, hydrated finish I love. At first there was a bit of irritation, but once I kept using it, it was totally fine. If you want to try a lower concentration retinol like I did but find that rich cream formulas just don't work for you, I'd recommend diluting a small amount of high-strength 1% retinol into a larger bottle of toner and using it that way. If your skin ever feels too dry, just mix in a little emulsion or cream to balance it out. - ai********Da hỗn hợpDa nhạy cảmĐược đề xuất16/09/2025 (UTC+0)
When I apply retinol before bed, my skin feels incredibly firm and plump the next morning. My complexion becomes noticeably smoother and more refined. Because it's a high concentration formula, applying it too frequently can make your skin feel sensitive and reactive. I'd recommend using it just once every two to three days for best results. I'd suggest mixing it into your moisturizer cream rather than using it alone. This makes the application gentler and more effective. - ia******Da trung tínhDa nhạy cảmĐược đề xuất11/09/2025 (UTC+0)
No words needed. This delivers everything - hydration, soothing comfort, radiant glow, and visibly smoother skin all in one. The dropper doesn't always have a strong enough grip on the liquid, so it can feel a bit unreliable sometimes. - a8*******Da thiếu nướcLàm sáng da / Đốm thâmBã nhờn / Mụn đầu đenKhô từ bên trongLỗ chân lông toMẩn đỏĐược đề xuất26/08/2025 (UTC+0)
This is an absolute must-have staple! I apply it and by the next day, I can visibly see such a dramatic improvement in my skin's pores and texture. It's honestly amazing how much better my skin looks. If you're new to retinol, just so you know, 1 percent can feel quite strong and potentially irritating at first! If you use a beauty device to help absorb it, or if you don't have a device, you can apply it together with a sheet mask and the results are seriously five times better. Five times! - ka*******Da hỗn hợpDa nhạy cảmDa mụnĐược đề xuất05/08/2025 (UTC+0)
This product is definitely oily. Since it has such a high concentration, I'll be mixing it with other products to use it. But the price is so reasonable that I'm really going for it to tackle those wrinkles. It does feel oily, so you really need to be careful about how much you use. There's a chance it could irritate your skin, so I'd recommend only using it if you've tested it on yourself first. - sa*****Được đề xuất24/07/2025 (UTC+0)
Oily texture but doesn't clog pores and feels great. Definitely helps reduce breakouts. The formula is quite potent, so if you use it from the start, you risk irritation or compromising your skin barrier.

I chose The Ordinary because they focus on single, effective ingredients at reasonable prices—I think I found them through a recommendation. I started with 0.2% strength and gradually worked my way up to 0.5% and then 1% to let my skin adjust. Honestly, this product hasn't made wrinkles disappear completely, but I'm committed to using it consistently long-term. Since retinol has an oily texture, make sure to let it absorb well before applying a hydrating moisturizer before bed. I also wash my pillowcase frequently to keep everything clean. Don't jump straight to 1% strength right away—you really need to build up gradually. Even with a slow approach, skip it entirely if your skin is feeling sensitive. That's when irritation tends to happen. I'd recommend letting the product fully absorb before bed, then apply a hydrating moisturizer on top before you sleep.
