I heard somewhere that houttuynia cordata is great for acne, so I went down a research rabbit hole and discovered Zymogen! Since my skin gets incredibly stressed easily, I wanted to try anything that sounded promising, so I ended up buying a bunch of different products even though my wallet was crying. I got the Zymogen serum, mist, and emulsion! I applied them in order - mist as a toner, then serum, and finally emulsion. The serum has quite a generous amount, by the way! I finished the emulsion and mist completely, but still had about half the serum left. I could actually see my acne gradually improving, and people around me kept telling me how much better my skin looked! Since this product is so good for oily skin types, it can feel really drying - and I mean seriously drying! This product absorbs beautifully and my skin has genuinely improved! I have seborrheic dermatitis, and using this along with a retinol cream and a witch hazel toner has completely transformed my skin back to normal. I'm so happy with the results! No real downsides, but the price point is a bit steep. After using it, I didn't experience any tightness at all. Plus, you get a generous amount of product. The scent is really overpowering. It feels like you're applying alcohol to your skin.

But wow, after using this for a month, my acne completely cleared up and it's stayed gone ever since. Other skincare products felt weird and made my skin feel tight and super dry, but this one is so affordable that I didn't hold back—I used it generously. And here's the thing: since I started using this, my skin doesn't get that hot, tight feeling anymore. Don't get me wrong, my skin is still a bit dry, but that burning sensation where products would just dry up on my face? That's completely gone now. Plus, I used this together with a centella fermented cream! (The photos show the before and after from 11 months of using this! For the scars, I personally saw results with rosehip oil from another brand.) This alone can leave your skin feeling dry, so definitely pair it with a fermented cream or another moisturizer! Don't be shy with this—use a generous amount! And when you apply it, gently tap and pat it into your skin so it absorbs well. After dealing with seborrheic dermatitis, my face felt so hot and irritated that everything I tried to apply stung. I searched everywhere for the right product, and I finally found this one. My skin really responded well to it. I've noticed it has a soothing effect and helps calm down the redness. The formula is a bit lightweight, so it doesn't feel heavy when I apply it. Using just this product alone makes my skin feel a bit dry. When inflammation is really bad, it can sting a little when I apply it. That said, when my skin is severely irritated, almost anything feels uncomfortable, so that's not entirely unexpected. The scent isn't overpowering, so while there is a slight smell, it's not bothersome.
