I purchased this product for the first time and used it for 5 days. It felt like it provided sheer coverage, so I used it without any concerns during those 5 days. Please, I'm begging you—if you're reading this, do not buy this product. I only picked it up because it was oddly on sale at the store. I have oily skin and typically use matte or full-coverage cushions to manage excess shine. I've never had any skin reactions or compatibility issues with makeup before. But after the first day of using this, small bumps started appearing around my nose and cheeks. I thought maybe my skin was just being sensitive lately, but the more I used this product, the worse my skin became. Not understanding why, I assumed it was just seasonal dryness causing the problem. However, I don't normally apply base makeup to my forehead, but I applied shimmer way too heavily and ended up using this foundation all over my face, including my forehead. That's when the small bumps erupted like crazy across my forehead and cheeks, and redness, itching, and stinging began. I developed contact dermatitis. It was painful for about 2 weeks, honestly. Even while sleeping, I suffered from the itching and stinging. I couldn't wear makeup or even sunscreen—I could only apply ointment. Is this product defective? I definitely bought a new one. If you don't want to suffer from contact dermatitis, absolutely do not buy this. This was my first time trying Vanilla Co products, and I have no intention of using any Vanilla Co products in the future. It's the worst. When I first apply it, it feels hydrating, then it transforms into this beautiful matte finish! The coverage is fantastic, there's no darkening or oxidation, and my skin doesn't look cakey at all. Even as time goes on, I notice it doesn't clog my pores like other products do. The key is applying it in thin layers. I'm so satisfied that I honestly can't think of anything I'd change. This product has a lightweight, fluid texture that flows smoothly, making it perfect for combination or dry skin types. In my experience, the coverage is too sheer to use alone for concealing blemishes and dark spots, so it's not ideal as a standalone product. I originally loved Banila Co's powder so much that I decided to try their foundation too! I've repurchased it about twice now, and honestly, the coverage is so good that I barely need concealer. The application is smooth and it adheres beautifully to my skin. That said, depending on your skin type, I did notice some darkening and breakdown by evening, which wasn't ideal for me. Since my skin gets congested and breaks out easily when I layer primer and setting spray, that was a bit disappointing. But the brand really does offer a great range of shades for different skin tones, and they have different formulas for summer and winter, which is awesome. It's definitely worth trying! Like I mentioned, it could be because of my specific skin type! If you use it with primer and setting spray, or if you do a good job reinforcing your base with concealer first, you might get even prettier results and better skin coverage. Just a thought! For me personally, I keep my skincare routine light, apply sunscreen, and then use just a small amount of foundation. I tap it in gently with a sponge. I'm not confident with spatulas or brushes, so I stick with what works! When you prep your skin properly and apply this foundation, you honestly don't need any touch-ups. Even a single application gives you solid medium coverage that really works. The color tone feels a bit lighter compared to the cushion formula. After the reformulation, it tends to separate around the nose area. Honestly, this is really just a home-use product—I wouldn't recommend carrying it in your bag. Mine leaked everywhere when I tried to take it with me.
