This product is absolutely wonderful during the dry fall and winter months when temperatures drop and humidity levels plummet. You can apply it before finishing your base makeup to hydrate your skin and prevent that uncomfortable tight, parched feeling. No flaking at all, and the makeup stays put beautifully throughout the day. The coverage doesn't shift or separate either. I can't really think of anything I'd complain about. This hydrating primer won't blur pores the way a pore-minimizing primer does, but I absolutely love it during winter since I have combination skin. Even though it's designed to mattify, I haven't experienced any breakouts. My sensitive skin handled it beautifully too. That said, it can feel a bit oily in summer, so if you're like me with combination skin, I'd definitely recommend saving this for the colder months. The formula has a smooth serum-like consistency that doesn't run, and the size is compact, about like a small lip balm. Since you only need a tiny amount of primer, this lasts forever. It doesn't feel sticky on skin, just has a slightly dewy finish. I think this would be absolutely wonderful for dry skin types. The texture blending isn't great, and the pore coverage is pretty minimal. Most primers tend to have a matte finish, so if you prefer a more moisturized feel, you might find this one disappointing. Before and after application, there's barely any difference in how it looks on the skin, and while the texture isn't overly thick, it's not runny either. The application itself is incredibly smooth and gentle, leaving your skin feeling hydrated without any irritation. When I apply foundation or cushion compact right after this, everything blends seamlessly without any pilling or separation, giving a flawless finish. Since my skin is combination with a tendency toward dryness, I found myself reaching for this more during fall and winter. If you have oily skin, I'd recommend trying the Classic version instead of the Hydrating formula. The size is about the size of your palm. Honestly, there wasn't anything disappointing about it. I purchased this on December 24th, 2024, and I was previously using a tone-up primer from another brand. Since that primer wasn't giving me the skin finish I wanted, I decided to switch to the famous Vanilla Co primer. I was a bit skeptical at first, but I was genuinely impressed when I tried it. It doesn't dry out my skin, there's no texture buildup, and it doesn't irritate my complexion. I'm truly satisfied with this product—it's my holy grail, honestly. Looking at my final skin photos, you'll see the difference clearly. When I wasn't using a primer (just skincare without any primer), my skin showed serious texture and flaking around my acne scars. My concealer would even separate and look patchy. But the moment I started using this primer, my skin transformed. I highly recommend it, especially if you have dry skin. The only downside is that it can be tricky to control the amount you dispense, but you'll get the hang of it as you use it more. A lot of people say you should apply the primer before sunscreen if it has a white cast, and after sunscreen if it doesn't. But honestly, I think applying the primer first works best regardless of which sunscreen you're using. It seems to provide decent coverage, but it's thinner than expected, so sometimes it doesn't work as well. It's a bit hard to say for sure. Even though there's plenty of time left before the expiration date, the formula started separating before summer really kicked in. When I don't use it for a while and then pump it, a clear, watery liquid comes out first. But when I shake the bottle again, it sloshes around like liquid before mixing back together into a thicker consistency.
