Since Fleur de Peau by Diptyque was my first fragrance from the brand and I absolutely loved it, I decided to explore another rose-centered scent that felt more unique. Both Korean and international reviews compared it to Frédéric Malle's Portrait of a Lady, which sealed the deal for me. Right away, I noticed this isn't a fresh rose at all—there's barely any citrus to speak of. Instead, on my skin, it's this jammy Turkish rose draped in cedarwood. It's not quite incense-like since it's not smoky, but rather incredibly creamy cedarwood that dominates the composition. The overall vibe is exotic and sophisticated, and honestly, it's a rose fragrance that even men can pull off beautifully. I've seen tons of YouTube reviews calling it sensual, but I'd describe it more as a high-quality, luxurious fragrance. As it settles, the base reveals a deeper, more honeyed dark rose note that's absolutely gorgeous. Compared to Fleur de Peau, the longevity is disappointing, so I had to deduct a star. Plus, it leans quite heavily into that exotic, Middle Eastern aesthetic, so it's definitely not an easy, everyday kind of fragrance.

From that first spritz, I was completely hooked. Honestly, it's such a smart purchase. The way it captures that feeling of stepping into a rose garden is just perfect - the description really nails it. Compared to other fragrances known for their rose scents, this one is in a completely different league. The longevity is incredible, and the dry down is absolutely beautiful. Honestly, I can't really find any downsides based on my preferences. Everything about it works for me - it's just the price tag that gives me pause. - bl*******Da khôDa mụnĐược đề xuất04/01/2022 (UTC+0)
I found Diptyque to have a straightforward scent, but this fragrance has more complexity to it. The layers are really noticeable, so it gives you different vibes depending on your mood and the day. What I love most is how well-balanced the notes are—it feels so polished and put-together. Honestly, you can find similar scents all over the first floor of any department store. This fragrance leans pretty feminine, which isn't really my thing. It's supposed to be a niche fragrance, but I'm not entirely convinced it lives up to that claim. - 36****Da dầuDa mụnĐược đề xuất15/12/2021 (UTC+0)
The initial spray hits you with this rich, amber-like scent that has a distinctly Middle Eastern vibe. But after just 10-20 minutes, that intensity fades and transforms into this beautifully sharp, spicy rose fragrance with an amazing dry down. It's like someone blended rose petals with exotic spices - truly captivating. I usually gravitate toward softer, more delicate fragrances, so this one feels incredibly sophisticated and alluring by comparison. That's why I save it for special occasions. Even a single spray packs a serious punch - the longevity is impressive, easily lasting 12 hours when applied to clothing. That said, it does feel a bit heavy and intensely spicy, which means it's not for everyone. If you're spending extended time in a confined space with multiple people, I'd skip this one. Honestly, there will definitely be someone in the group who absolutely hates it. The fragrance itself doesn't feel particularly unique either. While wearing it, I noticed several other perfumes that gave me similar vibes. Even though this is technically a rose fragrance, it doesn't immediately scream "rose" when you smell it. It's also quite different from Ombre Dianthe from the same house. Since this is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it type of scent, I'd strongly recommend testing it on your skin or trying a sample before committing to a full bottle.

The scent is pretty neutral, so it doesn't really stick with you. If you're someone who loves bold fragrances like Byredo 1996, this won't have much appeal. I picked it up specifically to wear when I'm meeting with older colleagues. It's on the stronger side, so a light spritz is usually enough. But I tend to go heavier because I really love it. - 72****Da thiếu nướcDa nhạy cảmDa mụnLàm sáng da / Đốm thâmBã nhờn / Mụn đầu đenKhô từ bên trongNếp nhăn / Độ đàn hồiLỗ chân lông toMẩn đỏTế bào da chếtĐược đề xuất09/04/2021 (UTC+0)
Diptyque truly lives up to its legendary reputation with this captivating fragrance that lingers beautifully on the skin. L'Ombre dans l'Eau is undoubtedly a distinct rose scent in its own right. Given that Diptyque achieved massive success with their rose-focused fragrance, it makes perfect sense why they chose to launch Eau Capitale in 2020, also drawing inspiration from rose but taking a completely different approach. The opening is remarkably spicy and bold, yet the dry down becomes surprisingly powdery and soft—it's quite the contrast. The powerful first impression that hits your senses right away will definitely divide opinions, though I believe this fragrance works beautifully for everyone regardless of gender, which is typical of Diptyque's approach. From the start, this was clearly designed as a "fragrance for those who will love it" rather than attempting to appeal to the masses. I'd genuinely caution against blind purchasing this one, as it's quite the adventurous choice. It evokes the image of a polished professional in a sharp suit, confidently moving through the financial district—that's the kind of sophisticated, commanding presence this scent carries. Compared to Diptyque's stellar reputation, this fragrance feels somewhat lacking in distinctive character and unique personality. Despite both fragrances having such strong personalities, they surprisingly complement each other beautifully when layered with Eau de Menthe. - be*****Da dầuDa mụnĐược đề xuất16/07/2020 (UTC+0)
The initial scent is quite strong, but if you love rose fragrance, you'll definitely appreciate how beautifully it lingers on your skin. When I spray it directly on my skin, the fragrance doesn't last as long as when I apply it to my clothes, so I recommend carrying an empty bottle around for touch-ups throughout the day.
