I've been consistently wearing Diptyque Philosykos as my winter fragrance, but I received Tam Dao as a gift and decided to try it out for a bit. I say "a bit" because I started using it but the scent wasn't really my style, so my younger brother has been wearing it instead. Honestly, to put it bluntly, it smells like the kind of fragrance you'd encounter at a temple, but that's not necessarily a bad thing—it actually comes across as quite sophisticated. To describe it more diplomatically, the woody notes are really prominent, and the lingering scent has a musky quality to it. So at first, the fragrance is quite spicy and intense, but as it develops, it becomes warmer and more subtle. I actually preferred the dry down more. Since I tend to recommend it more as a men's fragrance, if it matches your taste, it would make a great gift. This fragrance has a beautifully balanced, neutral scent with a lovely lingering finish. It's perfect for fall and winter wear, and I'd definitely recommend it as a great introduction to woody fragrances. The scent has a nice depth and presence to it. I wish the longevity were better - it doesn't last as long as I'd hoped. Plus, the price point is quite steep for what you get. I absolutely love this fragrance! The woody notes are wonderful, and it's exactly the scent I was looking for. The fragrance itself smells great, but something didn't agree with my skin. This is the first time a perfume has caused me trouble. I developed red patches on my skin.

I love using it around my home because it really lifts my mood! It's such a versatile scent that anyone can enjoy, regardless of gender. The longevity is a bit disappointing, to be honest. I spray it on before heading out, but the scent fades pretty quickly once I'm on the go.
