The texture is perfectly balanced for my skin type. It feels lightweight and non-sticky while delivering a hydrating finish. I noticed more improvement in my skin texture and oil control rather than wrinkle reduction. The breakouts and congestion I usually get in summer from excess oil have really cleared up. I didn't experience any irritation or adverse reactions, but I do feel some sensitivity from the retinol itself. I use it once every two days and skip it when my skin isn't in great condition. This product works so much better when paired with the matching essence and cream from the same line, but I've already finished the cream and only have the essence left. I wish they'd release them in coordinated sizes. If you layer a lightweight hydrating essence with a slightly acidic pH underneath before applying the retinol essence, you'll feel much less irritation. Confirmed: My skin type is dry with combination areas, plus trouble-prone with texture and scarring. I've tried every retinol product out there (Innisfree Retinol Cica, CosRX Retinol 0.1, Innisfree Retinol P.D.R) and none of them worked for me. They seemed fine at first, but then my skin became sensitive, turned red, and started flaking. I saw zero positive changes. This is literally the only retinal product my skin can actually tolerate! I had basically given up on retinol, thinking it just wasn't for me, and decided to avoid it altogether. But then retinol became trendy last year or the year before, and I kept getting tempted by other products. That's when I heard that retinal is gentler than retinol, so I figured, why not give it a shot and picked up this one. I was using whatever I grabbed randomly every day, but this one requires a bit more discipline with how you use it (every other night only). Life gets crazy busy, and honestly, I can barely remember what I did yesterday, let alone whether I used this two days ago. After using it sporadically for a while, it eventually became a habit, and now I'm consistently using it every other night. I've already finished one bottle and I'm halfway through my second one. Texture: The formula is completely liquid-like and flows so smoothly. It's an opaque milky color. Scent: Fragrance-free. Feel: Even though the texture is so watery, I was worried about it being too heavy or sticky since it's white. But not at all! It's a pump dispenser, so I use 1.5 to 2 pumps in my palm to avoid it spraying everywhere. It glides on like water, spreads beautifully with just a small amount, and leaves zero stickiness or greasiness. Results: I'm not experiencing any of the side effects I had with retinol products before (flaking, redness, breakouts, sensitivity). I'm getting real results without irritation. Breaking down the overall effectiveness out of 100: texture and scar improvement 25 points, trouble calming 25 points, texture refinement 30 points, skin barrier improvement 20 points. The opaque container makes it hard to see how much product is left. The price is steep, so I really have to wait for sales to justify buying it.
