Since this is an oil-based product, makeup removes easily. There's just a slight slick feeling on the skin. Starting around day 3, I noticed my face gets really oily in the morning when I apply makeup. My makeup just slides right off and won't stay put. I've been doing the oil-foam cleanser routine for over 10 years, but I've never experienced anything like this before. It seems like the oil is just sitting on my skin and not absorbing. Even though I have combination skin, this greasy residue left on my face is frustrating. I've only been using it for about two weeks and I've had to put it aside. I've gone through five bottles of Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, and I've only used the largest size from four of them—honestly, it's the best. - I was worried the brightening effect might cause breakouts, but that never happened - It removes makeup so easily - Leaves skin feeling fresh and hydrated - The scent is lovely - The bottle design is beautiful - The brand has pulled out of Korea, so you have to buy it at duty-free or overseas - The product quality is solid, but I can't really tell if there's a brightening effect since my skin is naturally fair to begin with

Compared to the Green and Revital formulas, the texture wasn't drastically different, but when mixed with water, it emulsified more smoothly like a cream cleanser and dissolved beautifully. I think this would be perfect for spring and summer when you need a little brightening and skin-tone evening out due to sun exposure. I have combination skin with a slightly oily T-zone and drier cheeks, but I didn't experience any breakouts, excess oil, or that uncomfortable greasy feeling. I wish it had added benefits to tackle blackheads and small blemishes—that would have made it even better for spring and summer use. I'll be honest—I bought this mainly because the purple packaging is absolutely gorgeous, but the product inside is amazing! My skin doesn't feel dry whether I use it before or after cleansing, and my complexion feels so much smoother and more refined. The cleansing power is solid and it does a great job removing dead skin cells. Among Shu Uemura's cleansing oils, this one felt like it was the most effective at sloughing away buildup during the emulsification process. I can't believe I paid this much for these ingredients... I'm feeling pretty frustrated and disappointed with myself.

When I first got this as a sample from Shu Uemura, I had such high hopes for the brand. But honestly, it just didn't work for me. My skin is pretty normal, so I was really disappointed. This product completely broke me out. At first, I thought it was just from wearing a mask all day, but the more I used it, the worse it got. Even the areas on my forehead that the mask didn't touch started acting up. I looked up the ingredients and saw mineral oil in there, which was a red flag for me. I stopped using it immediately and switched to a different oil, and my skin finally calmed down. But then I decided to give this one another shot to be sure, and wouldn't you know it—the breakouts came right back, one after another. I'm not sure what tips I could even give you here. It was decent, but honestly felt pretty standard... I'm not sure it's worth this price point for what you're getting in terms of ingredients. A review expressing disappointment about the ingredient list and pricing. I've tried all of Shu Uemura's cleansing products, and the pink one and this one are my favorites. I'm on my second or third bottle now, and I have to admit I was skeptical about oils since my skin tends to be oily. But this product completely changed my mind, and I've switched to using oil as my cleanser. It takes care of heavy makeup and waterproof products in one go, and I've noticed my pores look noticeably cleaner. What's really impressive is that my skin feels more balanced now, not greasy at all. My complexion even looks brighter, though that might be a bonus effect. I've tried other oils in between and even other Shu Uemura oils, but honestly, this one works the best for my skin. First: This makeup remover really does clean everything off completely. Second: Even after using it all up, there's no tightness or dryness left on my skin. Everything about it is great, but the price is a bit steep, you know? That said, it's honestly worth every penny.
