I usually love a dewy, luminous foundation or cushion, but this one feels like it settles into my pores and transfers even with the lightest touch. When I layer powder, it looks patchy and lifts in spots. I was really hoping for that glowy finish since it's marketed as a glow foundation, but honestly, it's not as luminous as I expected. It feels more like it's somewhere between matte and dewy, and I don't think I'll be reaching for this one very often. It's just not as glowy as I was hoping for, and I'm really disappointed. First things first, make sure your skincare base is solid! My foundation might have lifted because my base wasn't prepped well enough. This is seriously my go-to foundation for summer! The coverage is incredibly long-lasting and the staying power is amazing - I absolutely love it. There's zero darkening throughout the day, and it works beautifully with my favorite brush. It can feel a bit slippery during winter months, and I don't think it would work well for those with oily skin. I thought I was buying the previous Velvet version called 'Vegan Velvet Matte,' but it turned out to be discontinued. Comparing it to the old Velvet formula, the Vegan Velvet was honestly the most reliable and easy-to-use foundation option at Olive Young - something I could just grab and apply without thinking. This new formula leans more toward the matte side. I picked this up during a Naver Store sale and received it the same day. Since only shade 23 was left in stock and they were running a buy-one-get-one deal, I just went with a single purchase instead. For everyday wear, my skin condition tends to be unpredictable. If I'm dealing with flakiness and dryness, this is definitely a foundation that requires solid skincare prep beforehand. The coverage feels light to medium, and the wear time is average. It's noticeably more luminous than the classic shade 23, and shade 22 would also work for my skin tone. I'm usually around a 22.5, and this shade brightened my complexion all the way down to my neck. Overall, it's decent, but if you have dry skin, you really need to nail your skincare routine. If you're prone to flakiness, it can look chalky and patchy. Honestly, I found the previous Vegan Velvet formula so much more comfortable and forgiving to use. Here's the downside I need to add: For some reason, on days I wear this, my skin looks noticeably worse overall. The damage is immediately visible once I remove it. I experience irritation and inflammation, and I've noticed small bumps and inflamed breakouts appearing. I use other cushion foundations regularly, and while I'm not sure what specific ingredients are different, something about this formula just doesn't work for my skin. It's brighter than I expected! The product amount is generous and the staying power is really impressive. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone with dry to combination skin. There's a bit of creasing along the sides of my nose, and since it has a slightly matte finish, it looks a bit heavy on me. Skin Type: Very dry, sensitive, cool undertone, Deep 23 Review: This semi-matte foundation feels absolutely comfortable on my skin and keeps it hydrated. The coverage is amazing - it smooths out pores and texture beautifully, and I love how natural my skin looks with it. I actually use this foundation every single day sometimes because it's so reliable and doesn't cause any breakouts. I'm really impressed with how well it performs! The shade is a bit disappointing for me. It has quite a bit of yellow undertone that doesn't quite match my skin, and it does darken slightly throughout the day. If you have cool undertones, I'd suggest applying a pink-based or ivory-toned sunscreen that's about half a shade lighter first, then mix it with a pink-based foundation for the perfect match. The color turns out beautifully and stays fresh-looking all day long. There's barely any oxidation and you get so much product!! If you're like me and wear shades 22-23, this shade is absolutely perfect for you hehe The coverage is a bit light, so you'll need to apply an extra layer to the areas that need more coverage!! I love this so much that I'm keeping it stocked! Honestly, I first tried it as a sample that came with another foundation purchase, and I was so impressed with how beautifully it makes my skin look that I decided to buy the full size. It's seriously the best foundation I've ever used. I normally wear shade 21, but shade 23 is actually too light for me, which gives this gorgeous brightening effect. Please don't discontinue this product - I'm begging you! Way too bright?! I get that they might have been going for an ivory tone, but it would have been so much better if they'd released it in shades that actually matched the numbers on the bottle. The brush that comes with it is nice, but I found that applying it with a spatula and then blending with a beauty sponge works great too. The powder held up really well without crumbling, and it worked beautifully with the spatula brush that came as a gift when I bought it from Olive Young! The setting happens so quickly that you need to blend it fast. Plus, while the formula itself is great, it just didn't work for my skin type—my face would feel irritated every time I used it, so I had to stop.
