First off, the texture is just as the name "honey serum" suggests - rich and glossy. I only applied it at night, so I didn't mind if it felt a bit oily. It reminds me of using a hair essence like 'Sil* Therapy' on my face. Usually, I apply retinol, squalane, and vitamin serums separately, but Paula's Choice contains all my favorite ingredients in one product. So now my evening routine is simply toner, Paula's Choice, then moisturizer. Even with this simplified routine, my skin doesn't feel tight at all, which I'm very pleased about. What's especially satisfying is waking up to find my face has a natural glow rather than looking greasy, and there's no deep dryness after cleansing. You may not notice while using it, but the difference is clear afterwards. My skin looked more supple after using the retinol. After only using prescription retinoids, trying this well-formulated retinol from Paula's Choice was a revelation for my skin. Considering the texture, I highly recommend it for winter use. If you're interested in retinol, want to do at-home skincare, or are concerned about pores and wrinkles, I absolutely recommend Paula's Choice Resist Intensive Retinol Serum!!!! ✅Full ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane (moisturizing), Dimethiconol (moisturizing/texture enhancer), Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate (emollient), Dicaprylyl Carbonate (emollient), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (moisturizing/skin-replenishing), Phenyl Trimethicone (moisturizing), Squalane (emollient), Bisabolol (soothing), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (vitamin C/antioxidant), Retinol (0.112%) (antioxidant), Tocotrienols (vitamin E-based antioxidant), Tocopherol (vitamin E/antioxidant), Lecithin, Laminaria Ochroleuca Extract (kelp extract/soothing), Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Oil (soothing), Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil (skin-replenishing), Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate (soothing), Hexylene Glycol (moisturizing), Caprylyl Glycol (preservative), Ethylhexylglycerin (skin-conditioning agent), Phenoxyethanol (preservative). The oil content might be a drawback for those with oily skin. For first-time users, I strongly recommend doing a patch test before fully incorporating this product into your routine. - mi******Normal SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 4, 2025
For dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin Using my second bottle 100% will repurchase I'm going to buy it again right now... - Seems more effective than other retinol serums, even at the same concentration - Great for improving skin texture, especially during seasonal changes and winter - I thought my skin was super sensitive last year, so I stopped using it for a while I really regret not using it ㅠㅠ - After just 1-2 uses Blackheads and whiteheads visibly reduced - on the surface Pores appear smaller, and it doesn't irritate blemishes, actually seems to prevent them - Considering sensitive skin, use every 2-3 days Those with oily skin might find it rich, but my T-zone leans towards oily, and it actually works well there However, it might feel a bit heavy in summer After cleansing, apply toner Layer on the serum and wait 10-20 minutes (it absorbs slowly) I find using a generous amount rather than a small quantity seems to be more effective! Then finish with a hydrating ampoule followed by cream - n0****Oily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedDec 4, 2024
Paula's Choice's stable formulation and ingredients make me feel confident about using it The price is quite high, so I'll probably only buy it when it's on sale. It feels a bit heavy on the skin I recommend doing a patch test before using it - sm*******Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityNov 27, 2024
After trying retinol creams from other brands and liking them, I came across this as a recommended product while searching. I'm pleased to say it didn't cause any irritation and worked well for me. At first, I was skeptical about its serum-like quality due to its yellow, rich texture. However, once it absorbed, it didn't leave much residue and seemed to smooth out my skin texture nicely. I also appreciated the pump bottle, which made it easy to use, and the numbered instructions on the case indicating the order of application. The rich texture made the application experience a bit less than ideal, and I felt a slight warming sensation when massaging it in. Although retinol products tend to be pricey, I bought this on sale for around $50. Compared to my usual cream, it's still on the expensive side, so I'm not sure I'll continue using it long-term. - tl********Dry SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedSep 7, 2024
For a serum, it's on the thicker and oilier side. That's why it worked best when applied during winter or after sleeping with the air conditioner on, when skin tends to be dry. The next day, there was no greasy residue and my skin didn't feel tight. Since retinol is recommended for evening use, I used it as part of my night care routine. The quantity seems generous, as I've been using it longer than expected. The packaging makes it difficult to see how much product is left, and the serum leaks through the gap under the pump, which is a bit inconvenient. Also, it feels like applying a viscous oil, so it might not suit those with oily skin. It doesn't absorb particularly well, so I found it's best to apply it when the skin is slightly damp after using a mist, or before an emulsion is fully absorbed. This helps it spread more evenly. - dl*********Combination SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJul 23, 2024
My holy grail product... I first tried this retinol product when I heard about its benefits while living abroad. Honestly, I still haven't found anything that gives such immediate results as the Paula's Choice retinol. ♥️Improved skin texture Personally, I noticed my skin texture getting better. I used it together with niacinamide as I heard they work well in combination, and I felt the improvement in texture quite quickly. When applying makeup or washing my face, the feel of my skin seemed enhanced. While I can't say my pores completely disappeared, I definitely felt like my skin was less saggy. ♥️Blemish improvement I don't usually have many blemishes or cystic acne. However, I used to get the occasional pimple or two. After using this retinol serum, they've noticeably decreased. 🖤It's quite rich Even though I only applied it at night as recommended for retinol products, it still felt oily. I have combination dehydrated skin that leans towards extremely oily. In summer, my face and hair get so greasy and sticky, I look like I haven't washed in days. This product has a honey-like texture, which makes it feel very rich. 🖤Don't expect dramatic brightening With any skincare product, it's best not to expect dramatic brightening effects. It may improve your complexion, but it won't make your skin noticeably lighter. 🖤Deep wrinkles need more time I'll need to use it longer to see effects on my nasolabial folds! With retinol, you should gradually increase the amount you use. Once your skin adapts well, you can use the full recommended amount to avoid irritation! - wi*****Dry SkinRecommendedJun 4, 2024
Out of all the retinol products I've tried, this one is my favorite and I've been using it consistently. It's gentle enough for daily use without irritation, and the convenient packaging makes storage easy. I'm really satisfied with it. There's nothing particularly bad to mention. While you can't see the contents, if the opaque packaging is for product stability, it doesn't really bother me. - yj*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedMay 17, 2024
I love it! Those tiny blemishes that pop up occasionally? They vanish after applying this and getting a good night's sleep. It's such a perfect match for my skin that I always keep it on hand like a go-to remedy. It does have a slightly rich feel to it. Those with oily skin might find it a bit heavy. I sometimes mix it with other products during the serum step, and in summer, I occasionally use it as the final step in my skincare routine. - Hwahae UserDry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedApr 22, 2024
This review is based on using up an entire bottle. While the rich texture might be uncomfortable for some, it doesn't linger long. I've never found anything better for evening out my skin texture. I end up only applying it at night. If your skin doesn't agree with rich products, this might not work for you. Using too much can irritate the skin, so I only use a small amount. It's on the pricier side. When used with niacinamide, its effectiveness is unmatched, even compared to high-end brands. - ag*******Dry SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedApr 6, 2024
This is my first retinol serum, and I've noticed my pores getting smaller. I'm using it without any blemishes, and I plan to repurchase. The price... I'll use one more bottle and then upgrade to one with bakuchiol.
