The variety of shades allows for versatile use. It adheres better and lasts longer when applied over a no-sebum powder. It goes on too red. I switch between shades 21 and 23 depending on the season, but regardless of my skin tone, it always looks reddish. I didn't notice at first, but my friends often ask why my contour has such a strong red undertone. Even my mom noticed! On particularly hot days when I'm wearing makeup, my friends tell me to change my contour because it looks like I'm sweating red. I actually bought this a few years ago because a beauty YouTuber recommended it. While it's good in some ways, the color just isn't right for me. And although the attached photo looks yellow, it's actually quite red in person. It applies well with a soft kabuki brush (like the handleless one from The Body Shop). It seems to help control excess powder. - eh******Combination SkinJun 21, 2018
The amount is truly incredible... It'll be a challenge to use it all up! The weight, including the case, is also massive. It's way too red! For someone with darker skin like me... it shows up too reddish, so I've only been using 2 out of the 4. No wonder it felt heavy... The ingredients aren't great! It's such a shame to waste since there's so much. - da******Oily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinFeb 6, 2018
- Suitable for darker complexions (shade 23 and above). A few years ago, there weren't many good contouring products in drugstores, and even when available, they were too light for darker skin tones like mine. However, this product, recommended by Ssine, makes contouring possible even for those with deeper skin tones. - The color payoff is intense. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage - since it's highly pigmented, you only need to use a small amount, making the product last longer. - It has a strong red undertone. When applied to the face, it appears almost like a red-brown. As someone with a warm undertone (specifically a deep undertone bright), this product makes contouring look too obvious and unnatural on me. While careful application can work, even slightly overdoing it can make the outer parts of the face look reddish. - Due to its high pigmentation, poor application can result in an unnatural look with harsh lines and overly darkened areas. It's crucial to tap off excess product from the brush and not use too much. Opt for a fluffy, less dense brush rather than a tightly packed one. - The value for money isn't exceptional. While the case is sturdy, you can now find better products at even lower prices. - A few years ago, I would have highly recommended this product. However, contouring options in drugstores have greatly improved, with a wide variety of formulas and shades for different skin tones. There are now many contouring products superior to this one. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinDec 31, 2017
I use the third color from the left rarely, the far right for jaw contouring, and the far left for nose contouring. Originally, I bought it thinking I'd use the dark shades on both ends for jaw contouring and the middle two for nose contouring, but I find myself using just the end colors frequently. The amount is generous, so it should last a while. As you can see in the photo, the overall color palette has a strong reddish tint. After contouring, my face looks flushed... especially the two middle shades have an intense red undertone. These days, there are many better contouring products available, so I won't be repurchasing. Though I wonder if they still sell this? This might be a bit of an unconventional tip, but using a wide, firm toothbrush with the far right shade for jaw contouring can create a deep, sharp shadow. Those of us with fuller cheeks might want to give it a try. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSep 24, 2017
I love the color! It looks natural and works well for my slightly darker complexion. The packaging is a bit... creepy? And it's not exactly cheap either. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinAug 3, 2017
I've been using this product for two years now. Initially, my mom bought the entire Banila Co. set for me, so I tried it by chance. As I continued using it, I noticed that YouTuber Sseen also frequently uses and praises this product for its natural color and lack of redness. It really does have a nice, natural color payoff without any red undertones. One purchase seems to last me over 10 months. The price isn't exactly budget-friendly. But aside from that, everything else about it is great. Every day when I do my makeup, I lightly apply the lightest brown shade on my eyebrows and eyelids for a natural look. This helps control oil and creates a nice base for the rest of my makeup. For contouring, I use it to define my nose, hairline, and facial contours. - ja*********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDead Skin CellsJan 31, 2017
Looks natural and beautiful. The four-color palette includes light shades that can be applied to the nose as well. When all colors are mixed, it seems a bit dark, so I only use a blend of the first three shades. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinAtopic SkinDec 24, 2016
I loved the natural color payoff and the practical color combinations. The case was a bit wobbly. If it had been a cheaper product, I might have overlooked it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinNov 10, 2016
Wide range of colors available. (Though you end up mixing them anyway.) The quantity seems like it would last a lifetime. I always had small blemishes on my chin but didn't realize this product was the cause. After not using it for a while and then trying it again, I got the blemishes back and finally understood why. I have oily/combination skin that's not particularly sensitive, but this product gave me small bumps. They disappear when I stop using it. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with a built-in brush, so you need to buy one separately. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinOct 18, 2016
I bought this based on a review from a Hwahae Tester. The price is reasonable and the color seems nice. Even after using it just once, I woke up the next day with a breakout of blemishes. For those with oily skin, acne is the biggest concern, so this product is an immediate no-go.
