Since I have sensitive skin, I can't just use any cosmetics or I'll get acne. But I tried Avene's other products and they seem to suit me well - no acne and they're gentle, so I think they're great. The white cast is way too strong, so if you don't control the application well, it can make you look too pale and shiny. Also, if you apply makeup on top of this, it seems to interfere a lot. At first it's fine, but later you'll see the oil coming through and the powder doesn't seem to absorb well. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinSensitive SkinApr 30, 2017
The product before the renewal was really to my liking, but this one has been renewed with much more whitening, which is a bit disappointing. The previous product was a much more natural beige, and it was truly a lifesaver for me. It seems they reformulated it to improve the ingredients. Since I can't use chemical sunscreens due to breakouts, this sunscreen is the only physical sunscreen alternative for me. My skin feels comfortable all day long, and I don't experience any breakouts at all. As long as I control the application amount, I can use it without looking chalky. The downside would be the whitening. If you apply too much, your face can turn a pale violet, looking almost like a cyborg. But since it's comfortable on the skin, there's not much that can be done about it. If you're not using it for all-day outdoor activities with high UV exposure, you can mix it with foundation and apply it. To avoid reducing the protection, you can just cover it with powder foundation or compact powder, which will make the whitish cast look more natural. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 14, 2017
My skin is quite dry and sensitive, but I've been struggling with adult acne. Even the slightest change would cause breakouts, so I couldn't use sunscreen before. But this product didn't irritate my skin and didn't cause any breakouts, which was great. At first, I applied it like other products without knowing, and it felt like I was slathering on a huge amount. For women, it might be different, but as a man, I had to use an extremely small amount just to be able to go about my daily life. (I'm not sure if such a small amount would actually provide adequate sun protection.) I gave up using it and passed it on to my mother. - Hwahae UserDry SkinJan 3, 2017
I have not had a single skin issue. It has a moderate oily feel, so it's also good to apply like bare skin. I've been repurchasing it for 4 years. Since it's a physical sunscreen, there is a white cast. The opening is recessed inward, so the lid gets dirty. I use it as a base before applying foundation. I had severe closed comedones on my forehead, so I only apply the sunscreen on my forehead without foundation, and the white cast makes it look like I'm not wearing any makeup. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 23, 2016
The product was effective in improving skin tone and did not cause any skin troubles. While effective in improving skin tone, when applied in the same amount as conventional sunscreens, it leaves the face looking cakey and unable to properly block UV rays. It is impossible to apply enough to the face to provide adequate sun protection. I plan to use it generously on my arms and legs for my upcoming summer trip.
