The powder doesn't fall off and there's absolutely no smudging. I have hooded eyes, so I've tried all the famous mascaras like Kiss Me, but they always smudged or flaked, causing discomfort with particles getting in my eyes. Since using L'Oreal, these issues have completely disappeared! The white part acts as a fixer and makes lashes appear longer, so it's really great value for money. I used to buy it offline at a higher price, but from now on, I'll be getting it cheaper through the Hwahae app. As a trade-off for no powder fall-out, it can clump if not applied carefully. Also, the formula tends to dry out quickly if not closed properly, so you need to be meticulous when using it. Other than that, I'm really satisfied with the product and I'm willing to work around these minor issues. Even if you don't use the white part, you can still get great results. Just curl your lashes with an eyelash curler, set them with Etude House lash fixer, and then apply this mascara - it holds the curl perfectly! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMay 7, 2020
I have short lashes with average volume, and while I dream of camel-like long lashes, I opt for this mascara for my daily look. Back in college, I was a devoted fan of L'Oreal's Voluminous mascara. Anyone remember that one? While it might not have the same jaw-dropping staying power, volume, and smudge-proof qualities, I'm still quite satisfied with this one. Perhaps it's because I'm in my thirties now, and my eye area has naturally changed. By midday, my eye area tends to get oily and shiny. I love that it comes with a white pearlescent base you can apply. It reminds me of the Voluminous mascara. It gives a defined, voluminous look while still appearing natural. The best part? It doesn't clump! In my experience, it's also easy to remove. I miss using Voluminous mascara. I long for it. I wonder if my memory is making it seem better than it actually was. Don't rush when applying the base coat. It's best to wait for it to dry completely before moving on. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinDec 21, 2019
No drooping/Great hold/Long-lasting After curling and applying, lashes stay lifted. Even after 5-6 hours, they only slightly drop but don't completely droop, so it's decent in that aspect. The staying power and hold are also average. No smudging I haven't fully submerged it in water, but I wear contacts and tend to tear up often. Even then, it doesn't smudge much (maybe with 2-3 tears). It does come off easily if rubbed, but if you don't touch your eyes, there's no smudging. Lengthening effect It really lengthens well! The more you apply, the longer your lashes get. The lengthening function is truly excellent. However, there is some clumping (more on this in the 'Cons' section). Includes a primer...? There's a separate white part. Since L'Oreal Paris is a French brand, I can't read what it says (whether it's a primer or what), but anyway, there's a white mascara? on the opposite end of the black mascara. They say applying the white part first and then the black color on top enhances the effect, but I can't really tell the difference... I don't notice much change whether I use it or not. Plus, since I'm not looking for dramatic volume, using both together looks too intense for my taste (I'm someone who doesn't like an overly done look). Easy to remove It comes off quickly just by pulling with your fingers, but to protect my precious lashes, I gently wipe with a damp cloth. It removes very easily. No need for makeup remover (which also means it's at risk of coming off easily if touched during the day...). Clumping It clumps. Usually, eyelashes are thicker at the root compared to the tips, right? So for a natural and pretty look, the mascara should coat the lash tips without clumping. But this one clumps at the ends. While it's great for lengthening, the clumping at the tips makes it look messy. So I'm only using it with an eyelash curler as a setting product (in place of a lash primer). It's disappointing. (When it clumps a lot, I use a spoolie brush to comb through. It loosens everything up overall but doesn't completely eliminate small clumps.) Flaking There's a bit of flaking. Midday, you might notice some powder under your eyes. You can either gently flick it away with your fingernail (don't wipe with your finger, it might smudge) or, better yet, brush it away with the spoolie end of an eyebrow brush. I personally recommend the latter. Curling Without an eyelash curler, lashes simply won't lift... While it does lengthen lashes, they grow straight out rather than upwards, so using this without a curler doesn't make much difference. The curling power is close to zero. Brush/Amount control It has a caterpillar-like brush, but a lot of product comes out on the tip, making it hard to coat each lash individually. You always have to wipe off excess product. Given that it's already prone to clumping, if you fail to control the amount, it becomes a mess. It can also get in your eyes (though this might be due to my lack of skill and my eye shape, which is quite inset). Controlling the amount of product is essential. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAtopy SkinSensitive SkinSep 27, 2019
I actually bought this with my own money and used it all up to the very end! Someone mentioned it's like a flight attendant's mascara (?) and said it's good value for money, so I decided to give it a try. It wasn't bad at all! My lashes tend to droop, so to prevent smudging, I need to curl them up. I found that if I lightly apply the white part to my lashes, then use an eyelash curler, and finally apply the mascara, it really holds the curl well. The white tube seems to act as a kind of fixer. It's great for daily use... After finishing it, I've switched to Lancôme, which suits me better, so I didn't repurchase this one. While it's good, there's a bit of clumping and excess powder. Also, if you apply the white part carelessly, it can be a bit noticeable... Nevertheless, I used it well for a few years, and considering the price, I think it's pretty decent. It's great for daily use. For best results, apply the white tube first, then the black one. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMar 11, 2019
The staying power is excellent, and it sets well. I'd definitely buy it again! It tends to clump a bit, and the mascara is difficult to remove. It also feels slightly heavy on the lashes. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMar 3, 2019
I've found my holy grail mascara! For those who usually experience smudging with waterproof formulas, give this a try - you might be pleasantly surprised. I certainly was! (While most waterproof mascaras tend to smudge, this one doesn't budge at all and barely flakes. It's a game-changer, regardless of the brand.) I highly, highly recommend it! The best part? It doesn't pull out your lashes when you remove it. I'll share my removal tip below. The staying power is excellent, it gives great length, and even provides decent volume. The ingredients are as listed on the package. One drawback is that the mascara wand is quite large, making it challenging to apply to the lower lashes and inner corners of the eyes. Here's my removal tip: Before your nighttime cleansing routine, skip the cleansing water and go straight for warm tap water. Cup some in your hands and gently pat your lashes a few times. Then, go brush your teeth. After you're done, wet your hands with warm water again and lightly stroke your lashes. The mascara will come off effortlessly, like eraser shavings from art class. It's incredibly easy to remove without any tugging or pulling. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinFeb 17, 2019
It doesn't smudge, and the best part is you don't need a special remover to take it off. You can easily wipe it away with just a cleansing tissue! It's a liquid type that dries quickly and has great staying power. If there's one downside, it's that the brush is a bit thick, so you need to be careful when applying it. It can get on your eyelids. But it's not a big deal since it comes off easily. - Hwahae UserOily SkinOct 4, 2018
1. Clump-free application It hardly clumps at all. I'm not particularly skilled at applying makeup, but this mascara goes on smoother and with less clumping than many famous brands! I didn't actually buy it myself - my boyfriend gifted it to me from abroad, and I tried it by chance. It's the best I've used so far. 2. Curling effect The curling effect is pretty good too. My lashes are short and don't curl easily... not ideal conditions, but this works better than anything else I've tried. 3. Easy removal It comes off incredibly easily. This is actually the main reason I use this mascara every day. However... I'll mention a downside in the 'bad' section. 1. Ingredients, ingredients, ingredients... I'm so disappointed... There are 7 potentially harmful ingredients! I had no idea it was this bad. I came here to write a review because I've been enjoying using it, but I'm shocked now. I was really loving it, so if anyone knows of a good alternative, please recommend one! Maybe it's okay since it washes off easily...? I'm not very knowledgeable about ingredients. 2. Staying power It doesn't last as long as some other famous mascaras. That's the trade-off for how easily it comes off. So I use this for everyday looks, but switch to other brands for more intense makeup. Occasionally, it smudges a lot - maybe due to oily eyelids? - and I end up with panda eyes. I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly, but I apply the white base and then immediately apply the mascara before it dries. I find this method works better and prevents clumping! - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSep 22, 2018
I'm on my 4th tube now! It doesn't smudge much, stays put well, and makes my lashes look longer! It washes off with lukewarm water! Even after washing with lukewarm water and using a foam cleanser, some parts still don't come off completely! You definitely need to cleanse again with a foam cleanser! For maximum mascara effect, try this routine: use an eyelash curler, then apply white mascara, followed by black mascara, and curl again! - Hwahae UserDry SkinJan 27, 2018
I received this as a gift and loved it so much that I repurchased it. After using an eyelash curler, I first apply the Etude mascara fixer to set my lashes, then immediately layer this on top. It stays put all day long, which is fantastic. It also comes off easily with makeup remover. I don't think you even need to use the white side. If I had to pick one drawback, it would be that it flakes off like eraser shavings when you remove it. It's quite fascinating how easily it comes off when you apply makeup remover and gently rub it away with your fingers.
