While it's better than the velvet finish, the initial moisturizing feeling disappears quickly, and it doesn't last very long on the lips.

I was about to repurchase Dolce Vita when I ran out, but this color caught my eye. Since my lips are always painfully dry, the satin finish is definitely softer and better. For me, it's more natural than Dolce Vita and gives that 'my lips but better' (MLBB) effect that brightens up my whole face.

While I'm more into products that give a matte look, this one's still decent. It's just not my first choice for everyday use.

I snagged a couple of these from Sephora. The complexion it gives is pretty versatile - it works well whether you have cool or warm undertones.

Rather than using it alone, I found it looks even more beautiful when used as a base and then blending a lighter shade towards the center of the lips for a gradient effect.

When I was in the States, a store associate recommended this to me, and I have to say, it truly lives up to the 'MLBB' (My Lips But Better) hype. It's like my natural lip color, but slightly prettier and enhanced. I really love how natural the shade looks.

Honestly, I prefer the texture of NARS Velvet Lip Pencils to the Satin ones. The Velvet formula glides on smoothly without shine - I was amazed when I first tried Dolce Vita. The Satin Lip Pencils are a bit more glossy and shimmery. While not as shiny as a lip gloss (typical of NARS), I do miss the Velvet Lip Pencil's matte finish.

Now that Shiseido has acquired NARS, making it officially a Japanese company, it's interesting to note how many French cosmetic products have Japanese-inspired names. Conversely, many Japanese products use French names too. Rikugien, named after a Japanese garden, is an example of this trend. NARS' naming choices are often intriguingly enigmatic.

For me, this is the ideal MLBB (My Lip But Better) shade. While many people consider Dolce Vita their go-to MLBB, it turns too brown on my lips, making it more suitable for autumn. When I first encountered Rikugien or saw swatches online, I wondered why anyone would apply such a pale color to their lips. Surprisingly, my natural lip color is even lighter! Rikugien adds just a hint of color, making it perfect for everyday wear.

I first tried Rikugien in a 2015 Sephora birthday gift set that included Cruella. I loved it so much that I purchased the full-size product. As someone who prefers subtle makeup, I initially thought Cruella might be too bold. However, I discovered a great technique: apply a bit of lip balm or oil, then Rikugien, and finally dab Cruella just on the inner part of the lips for a slightly more vibrant look.
