And the moment it settles on the lips, it becomes so fixed that it feels like it's my natural lip color, making the color last a really long time. The color itself is a deep red without any brownish or purplish undertones, so just one application gives you a perfect makeup look. While lining the lips with the same bold red looks great, if you lightly smudge it before it sets completely, you can create a nice pink-toned gradient effect. I was considering the Jungle Red from the Nars line, but it was too matte and had more brown tones, so I end up using this Retro Red more often. Also, being a Nars product, the sleek and beautiful packaging makes the lipstick feel even more luxurious.
ConsThe only downside, which is quite obvious, is that as a matte lipstick, you need to make sure to properly exfoliate your lips.
TipI usually mix this with the Coral Pink shade 12 from Laneige, applying it just to the inner part of my lips. This creates a nice gradient effect, and the Laneige formula is so moisturizing that it prevents any dryness or emphasizing of lip flakes, while still lasting a long time.

It's a deep red, not too bright, with a slightly darker undertone, which was perfect for my warm-toned complexion. And (although it does transfer quite a bit) the longevity is also great! It seems the pigmentation is just right, so the color stays put.
ConsThe matte and long-lasting formula is actually a downside, as it transfers way too much. I tend to touch my lips a lot, and the lipstick not only transfers, but also clings to any flaky skin, making it look even worse. I was amazed at how well it stayed on, even when some of it had transferred. And the transferred bits are really stubborn to remove too... Of course, they come off with proper cleansing, but the little bits that get on my fingers from just lightly touching my lips don't disappear the way they normally would - this one just won't budge.
TipYou really need to apply a generous layer of lip balm first. I usually have minimal lip flakiness, but this one seems to accentuate even the barely visible ones, making them stand out. Of course, the color itself is absolutely gorgeous.
