Though it's called an emulsion, it looks like a toner but feels like applying a serum. It's a toner with high viscosity. The absorption is great, doesn't feel heavy, isn't sticky, and doesn't leave your skin feeling dry like some toners do - it's just right. While the price is on the higher side, you only need a few drops to cover your whole face like a serum, so it's not really expensive. I have seborrheic dermatitis, and before I could even experience the benefits of this product, I noticed my skin condition worsening visibly, forcing me to stop after just three applications. The first night I applied it, I had trouble sleeping due to itching. I rarely experience itching, but this product caused intense irritation. On the second morning, I felt a stinging sensation, and the skin lesions gradually worsened. I still tried it a third time because, oddly, the redness didn't increase as it usually does when my dermatitis flares up. However, after the third application, I had to apply Nadixsa to 30 spots the next morning and immediately discontinued use. The fact that my skin quickly improved after stopping suggests this product was indeed the issue. I've searched all the ingredients, but there's nothing directly linked to seborrheic dermatitis problems. I'm leaving this review for those with fatty acid sensitivities who might be considering this product. Given its price point, it's quite an investment to try out. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedSep 25, 2019
This is a product I really cherish, but when I went to the department store, the staff didn't highlight it from the start. I wonder why... Personally, though, I highly recommend it. Those with dry skin tend to prefer essences with a runny, almost mucus-like texture, and this one has just the right consistency. It's not too runny, but flows a bit slowly. Anyway, it suits me so well that I use it with oil. Even when I apply makeup on top, it feels nice and firm. Why isn't this more popular? You should definitely buy it! It would be nice if it were a bit cheaper, but that's unlikely, right? Since I use a lot, it runs out quickly. Try mixing it with oil when you use it. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedFeb 11, 2019
I absolutely love this product! I've gone through about 5 bottles already. It feels like my skin keeps improving over time. I'm currently using Atomy, but once I finish it, I plan to switch back to this. The price-to-volume ratio is quite good, and it doesn't cause any irritation. I've tried countless toners, but Clinique works best for my skin. It absorbs well into the skin too. Throughout using 5 bottles, I didn't notice any major drawbacks! I think it works even better when used together with the Turnaround Serum! - wh********Oily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 19, 2018
My skin is extremely oily in summer and combination-dry in winter. This product has excellent absorption! It glides on smoothly. I apply it with a cotton pad, and its runny texture allows for gentle application without irritation. In winter, it absorbs quickly, probably due to my dry skin. It's moisturizing enough for me to use as a hydrating product. I think this would work well for all skin types except extremely oily skin. In summer, I have extremely oily skin. No matter what I apply, nothing works and it's just frustrating... So I can't use this in summer either. It's not a product issue, but my skin problem. Apart from this, I have no complaints! I use it with a cotton pad as a hydrating step right after cleansing in spring, fall, and winter. - dk********Combination SkinSensitive SkinMar 14, 2018
This is my current go-to water essence. Among Clinique products, I noticed this one had a lot of good active ingredients, so I thought it might be worth trying. I'm genuinely satisfied with it. It has a runny consistency, similar to the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner, but it absorbs even better. It's a fermented product, and I'm not sure if it's because of that, but my skin texture has improved... and it feels so hydrated. It seems like a great, versatile product for everyday use. However, I haven't seen this on the official website recently... I hope it's not being discontinued. That would be such a bummer! - al********Oily SkinAcne SkinDec 5, 2017
Unlike products with a runny texture, this one transforms into a lightweight, water-like consistency when applied to the skin. It feels refreshing and quickly replenishes hydration! While the '7-skin method' is typically done with watery toners, I use this product about 3 times in a row since it has a similar fluid texture. A potential advantage is that even with repeated application, the product seems to last forever. After it's fully absorbed, my skin feels smooth and deeply moisturized! As we all know, Clinique doesn't use fragrances in their products. I'm not particularly picky about scents and can tolerate most, but this Moisture Surge has a rather peculiar smell compared to other Clinique products. It's a mix of plastic, urban air, and something slightly musty. If you're looking for fragrance-free, this might work for you, but remember - fragrance-free doesn't mean odorless! I've also tried the moisturizer from the same line, but found its hydrating power to be somewhat lacking. While this product is great for replenishing moisture, it doesn't seem to help much with dead skin cells. I use an exfoliating product before applying this in three layers. This routine might suffice in summer, but for winter, I top it off with Skinfood's Hydrating Cream. I find it more hydrating and longer-lasting than the moisturizer from this line - it even stays on overnight! I'd recommend using an exfoliating toner before this product. Personally, I use COSRX's One Step Original Clear Pad! - Hwahae UserDry SkinDec 1, 2017
I used this as a toner before my emulsion, and it's become a holy grail product for my dry skin! It feels like it's deeply hydrating my skin, and it completely solved my deep dryness issues. At first, the container was a bit inconvenient, but once I got used to it, it actually became easier to control the amount of product. Although it's labeled as an emulsion, I used it as a toner before my emulsion. When I do the '3-skin method' with this before my skincare routine, I don't experience any deep dryness throughout the day! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinFeb 12, 2017
I bought an alcohol-based toner, but it didn't suit me well. Then I tried a sample I received and loved it, so I decided to purchase the full size! My complexion has become much smoother, and my skin tone is becoming more balanced. It's not irritating at all, and the texture feels slightly sticky like a toner, which makes the hydration last longer. I really like it! It works fine for me, but... The texture has a sticky feeling, so those who dislike that might not enjoy it.... Oh, and it's a bit more expensive than the 'soju toner' (referring to a popular cheap toner).... - yi**********Combination SkinAcne SkinJan 29, 2017
I used to use the Soju Skin, but since it's winter, I decided to try this one. It's exceeded my expectations! Since using this, the tightness in my face has disappeared. It's truly a hydrating toner. I love the entire Turn Around line. Although this is an emulsion, I think it would be even better if there was an emulsion option in addition to the hydrating toner. - tk********Combination SkinSensitive SkinJan 22, 2017
I received this as a sample when I bought something else at a department store, and I used it every other day! I applied it after my toner, and the store employee said it was good for redness. I used to have severe redness, which made it hard to apply blush beautifully, and I was really upset about it. But after switching to the entire Clinique line, my skin improved so much! The redness has faded, and my makeup applies so well that I bought the full-size product today. If Clinique products generally work well for you, this will probably be a great fit! I have combination-dry skin by the way! It contains PEG and phenoxyethanol, which is a bit disappointing... But it works so well for me! It's called an emulsion, but the hydration level is closer to a regular toner, so you definitely need to layer it with products that provide more moisture or richness.
