I love how it finishes with a soft, matte feel. I've avoided other sunscreens due to their residual feeling, but this Shiseido ChaCha is moisturizing yet leaves a pleasant matte finish. It works great under foundation without any pilling.
ConsWhile I appreciate the non-sticky, matte finish, it stings quite a bit when applied around the eyes. Those with sensitive eye areas should probably avoid this product.

As a sunscreen, it's lightweight and you get a generous amount.
ConsIt might not be ideal for oily skin types. It worked well for me since I have dry skin, but there's a slight oiliness. For those with oily skin, I recommend the blue Centella version as a basic option.

It pairs perfectly with Lancôme's Teint Idole foundation... I'm in awe! It gives a semi-matte finish on the outside while keeping the skin hydrated underneath. Even when I apply a lot of sunscreen, the foundation adheres beautifully... The staying power is impressive too... What should I do? It's a Japanese product, and finding a substitute is so challenging!
ConsIt's Japanese... Though I'm participating in the boycott, I just can't find a replacement for this. And the price...?

I can't find another sunscreen that sets such a solid base. Matte foundations apply beautifully over it. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I really need to focus on skincare before applying foundation. This Shiseido sunscreen is my only base product. Except for extremely dry winter days, I don't need a separate moisturizing base in spring and fall. I can apply foundation directly, resulting in a moisturized interior and a pretty semi-matte exterior. The sun protection is incredibly strong - perhaps due to its waterproof nature, it's long-lasting and doesn't easily come off! I used to use the light blue Shiseido sunscreen, but it was too white and didn't blend well. I was torn between the yellow version and this one, but I'm so glad I chose this. Unlike the yellow version, which smelled like chemicals on my face, this one has no such issue. It provides a cooling effect and is super hydrating. Instead of that typical greasy shine from mineral sunscreens, it gives a beautiful, dewy hydration! The texture is great too, applying smoothly without any pilling. I have sensitive skin, and even after finishing a whole bottle, I'm not sure if it's caused any blemishes.
ConsThe ingredients aren't the best... and the price is quite steep! I had to really commit when I bought it at the duty-free shop. But it's so good that when I looked into repurchasing, I was shocked by the price. I bought it again because it creates the best base, but given that sunscreen needs to be applied generously, the cost is a burden... Some people might experience skin irritation due to the ingredients. Still, I think this has the best formulation among Shiseido sunscreens. It's so long-lasting that cleansing water won't remove it - you need to cleanse thoroughly to avoid blemishes.
TipWhen I'm only wearing sunscreen, I use a cheaper one. I save this for when I need a good base. Otherwise, the price is just too much to handle! Make sure to apply it in thin layers or blend it well! It's not extreme, but it can leave a slight white cast if not applied properly. Always use cleansing oil to remove it!

When I used it, it felt quite moisturizing and pleasant.
ConsI can't really think of any drawbacks - in my opinion, it seems pretty decent to use.

ConsWhen cleansing with water alone, it doesn't feel like it's thoroughly removing everything
TipA great sunscreen to use before applying makeup

It's much better than the blue Innisfree sunscreen I switched from, which caused severe wrinkles. Plus, there's no stinging sensation around the eyes!
ConsApart from the initial burning sensation right after application, it's quite good. The burning subsides after about 5 minutes. As time passes, it might look a bit shiny, but I actually prefer it as it gives me that coveted 'Inner Glow' effect.
TipWith sunscreen, the more you apply, the better the protection. I tend to apply it quite generously, paying the most attention to this step in my skincare routine. There's no special trick - just apply thin layers repeatedly for the best coverage.

Although it's described as hydrating, it's hardly sticky at all. It melts into the skin more smoothly than the original blue version, with better absorption and less eye irritation. With the original product, I sometimes experienced eye discomfort by evening after wearing it all day, but this one seems to cause no issues at all. And the price? This year's promotion offering a large sample with purchase, like a 1+1 deal, makes it half as burdensome! As someone who practically collects sunscreens, I'm declaring this my new holy grail product.
ConsFor about 30 minutes after application, it doesn't feel great on the skin. Sensitive areas like around the mouth become red. I suspect it's due to the ethanol content...
