Hydrocolloid is for after popping pimples (the white spot patches you usually think of).
Salicylic acid and tea tree oil are for before popping pimples.

I got this information from a pharmacist's YouTube video. They didn't recommend any specific products, but I thought it might be helpful to share, even though it's not directly related to this patch.

Even though they're thin and transparent, they don't effectively conceal blemishes.
Based on my experience, the acne that doesn't subside with these spot patches doesn't go away even after using them for days to calm it down. For that kind of acne, I recommend getting it extracted by a dermatologist instead of trying to pop it yourself, as that can lead to further irritation or scarring.
I think people with a lot of or severe acne who haven't seen results from other skincare products probably won't see much effect from these spot patches either. They'll need a medical treatment.

Reason for use:
I saw on YouTube that the ingredients in acne patches are different before and after popping pimples.
You're supposed to use them separately, but I didn't know that and always used the spot patches before and after popping pimples. They said that can cause irritation, so I decided to try these.

Calming effect:
When you put the patches on, you don't touch the pimples as often, so there's no further irritation from picking. They protect the area from dust and external irritants.
After using them for two months, I found they have a calming effect. Most of my acne has subsided.

Cost-effectiveness:
The cost-effectiveness is really good.
The price is affordable, and there are a lot in the package, so one purchase lasts for months.

Adhesiveness:
You have to use them on dry skin. If your skin has toner or lotion on it, they don't stick as well. If you use them right after washing your face when your skin is completely dry, they last a really long time. They're transparent, so I even forgot I had one on and washed my face at night, but it didn't come off.

The same product also comes in a peach color variant, which seems to have stronger effects. I sometimes use that one when I have a more severe breakout. And applying it more broadly around the area also seems to improve the results.

The size can be an advantage at times, but when it's too large, it's difficult to wear during the day.

Well, I guess you could say it's visible... The upcoming acne has black heads stuck in the middle, and when those get pressed, they show up clearly as distinct spots.
(Maybe it's just me) but the blackheads don't come out.

When acne comes up, it's great to put on something that allows you to just squeeze it out nicely, or if you leave it on, the sebum comes out on its own and falls off when you wipe it off, or you can gently dab it with a cotton swab and the acne will come out!
