It's suitable for anyone, regardless of whether your skin type is dry or oily. I have dry skin, and I dislike products with a lot of oil because they leave a greasy feeling, but this product has a much lighter texture than oil (it feels like diluted oil in water) while maintaining the moisturizing power of oil. It's a fascinating product. If you mix just one drop of the cream, it creates a moisturizing layer that helps your skincare routine last longer.
ConsAside from the short shelf life after opening, there are no other downsides.

As it has only recently been used in skincare products, there is a lack of accumulated research results. Therefore, the claims made by cosmetic companies (such as high skin affinity) and users' actual experiences are the only available information to refer to. To share my subjective user experience: 1) It is lightweight. This light, comfortable feel is perhaps the biggest appeal of squalane, allowing even an oily-skinned person like myself to use it without burden. The formulation is very fluid and does not feel oily. 2) It has high versatility. It can be used as the last step in skincare, applied to hair, and layered over body lotions and creams. Being unscented and colorless, it is easy to apply anywhere. 3) In addition to hydration, it also serves as an emollient, softening the skin. My skin feels smoother the next day. As for other secondary effects like the antioxidant properties of some plant oils, I'm not certain, as there is no clear evidence. Rather than expecting major effects, I find it useful as a supplementary hydrator that can be applied anywhere without much thought. And given its affordable price, it's a convenient option.
ConsWhile squalane is non-irritating, skin-friendly, and versatile, the lack of a clear standout effect made it feel a bit nondescript to me. I didn't really experience squalane's distinct appeal, so I don't think I'll repurchase it. As an oily-skinned person, I've only tried squalane and jojoba oil. When using oils, I prefer something with a bit more weight that can really seal in hydration, and my experience with jojoba was more positive (though jojoba is not as lightweight as squalane).
TipThe unscented and lightweight nature of squalane makes it great for use on wet hair. In fact, I've been using it more for my hair than for hydration, as I don't find it particularly compelling for that purpose. The Ordinary has even released a product called Hemi-Squalane, which has an even lighter formulation specifically designed for hair use, and that's caught my interest more. When using squalane on my face, I like to dispense a drop or two into my palms, warm it up, and then press my palms flat against my cheeks to create an even coating. I've also found squalane useful for applying over body lotions or on dry hands and skin.

I've had issues in the past with using oils that were blended with multiple ingredients, which caused some problems, but this one is much lighter, so it's easy to mix into a moisturizer without feeling too heavy.
ConsSince it's an oil, it can be tricky to get the right amount. Some days, just a couple of drops isn't enough, but if I increase the amount, it can feel a bit too much.
TipYou can mix it into a cream and apply it, or dispense it onto your palm and gently press it into your face.

It's an oil, but it feels incredibly lightweight. However, I feel like it used to be cheaper - it seems like Deciem has raised prices across the board overall. 😔 It was a budget-friendly brand that I used to buy.
ConsThe prices keep going up... I think it's time to start looking at other brands. It's a shame, but the Squalane itself is still very good.

I've used almost all the products from this brand by ordering from Canada even before The Ordinary came to Korea, but there is no product that can match this squalane. First of all, I have dry skin, sun allergy, and other allergies, so I can't apply oil well even though I have dry skin. However, this is the only product that has been effective for me. As it's plant-based, it's very safe and applies lightly, so I use it extensively in the winter! The price is, as you know, very affordable ☺️
ConsNone. It's hard to fill 20 characters 🥺🥺🥺🥺
TipPersonally, I use this squalane in the winter, and there is a semi-squalane product that I use in the summer. It has a much lighter, watery texture than this, so I use the semi-squalane in the summer.

ConsI used it without any disappointments As long as it doesn't change, that would be great

It's so moisturizing, lightweight, and just wonderful!
ConsThere's really nothing bad to say about it. The price is affordable, but the only thing is that it's only available for purchase online.
TipYou can mix it a little with your existing skincare products and apply it, or you can simply apply the oil on its own.

Due to skin barrier damage, it becomes oily in summer and dry in winter, causing seasonal troubles for various reasons. I have been on a cosmetic diet for about a year, eliminating creams and using only natural oils for the final moisturization. I was looking for a less burdensome oil to use during the day and ended up here. I initially used olive extract oil, but personally I liked the feeling of the slightly lighter sugarcane squalane extract more. 1. Appropriate cost-effectiveness: Suitable amount and price for individual users. 2. Maintaining the right amount provides proper absorption effect: Just a drop or two leaves a light cream-like feeling on the surface, not too much. It doesn't feel burdensome under makeup. 3. Significantly reduced inner dryness. 4. Troubles have not worsened. - By first reducing the over-nourishing cosmetics and maintaining hydration, the troubles have not worsened. The calming effect seems greater with natural oils containing other active ingredients, but I like how it stays true to the basics. 5. Maintaining natural sebum secretion on bare skin - It is said the natural face should have a light sebum layer, and as someone who could smell my own excessive sebum around the nose area in the afternoon, I'm quite satisfied with the result. The thin oily feeling left after skincare remained until I got home, without excessive sebum production or the need for oil blotting papers. I could feel the natural sebum film on my bare face.
ConsOne downside is that there is only one offline store. For those who prefer a richer feel, the olive extract products like Indiry or Lifeflow may also be worth trying compared to this product.
TipFor those who develop pimples from natural oils or squalane extracts, even if you don't have allergies, it's essential to check the cosmetic diet or usage amount. Continuing to use the same products as before may unnecessarily worsen troubles due to over-nourishment. Choosing to not use creams was difficult to adapt to, but I opted for a toner solely for hydration and soothing, and applied it generously. I would use essences only when necessary for their functionality, and quickly apply the oil or squalane on top. Since the hydrating and moisturizing effect was good, enduring this initial step helped with inner dryness and the cosmetic diet was successful. I think it's worth trying for oily-combination skin types. I also recommend that dry skin types avoid overly high-performance, over-nourishing products for a while, and stick to basic hydrating products, using them in small amounts.

It's lighter than the regular squalane, absorbs faster, and is said to have good value for money (refer to the 29cm description) 1. Can be used for both hair and skin 2. Squalane helps prevent moisture loss!! 3. Good value for money (3,900 won) 4. Light texture! (watery texture, fast absorption, no burden) * Hair - Hair condition: My hair is slightly curly and what they call 'pig hair' (?) It's always frizzy. I haven't done any perms, dyes, or heat styling, but when I go to the salon, they ask if I've done a lot of heat styling (...) They say my hair seems very damaged. I suspect it's from drying my hair with hot air. - After shampooing, I used 6 drops of squalane on my slightly damp hair (chest-length, thick hair). I also dried it with cool air. Before use: <<Dried with hot air -> Moisture damage -> Frizzy 'pig hair'>> After use: <<Used squalane on damp hair -> Prevented moisture damage -> Dried with cool air -> Soft, calm hair>> The calmness of my hair is visibly noticeable!! The frizzy, kinky strands are now calm, just like after using a curling iron. The texture is also good. I'll exaggerate a bit and say it feels like silk 🥺🥺 * Skin - Routine: 1) Hyaluronic essence + squalane (moisture replenishment + moisture barrier) 2) The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 3) The Ordinary Magnesium Ascorbyl 4) Huxley - All-in-one cream - Using squalane alone doesn't seem to significantly improve skin hydration or make the skin noticeably better. Since it's a component that helps prevent moisture loss, it would be good to use it together with other moisturizing creams!
ConsThat's impossible! I'll let you know if it happens later.
Tip* Hair - Use on damp hair and dry with cool air!

I used it in the winter, and it felt light and transparent. I used about two to three drops in the basic skincare step, and it felt moisturizing and gentle. When I woke up the next day, my skin felt a bit better. However, I think it might be too much for summer, so I'm not using it right now.
ConsLike others have mentioned, the expiration date and management seem a bit concerning. But other than that, I didn't have any other downsides.
TipYou can mix a drop into your base makeup or use it in the basic skincare step for better makeup application.
