I love that it's gentle and fragrance-free. It seems perfect for those of us with super sensitive skin looking for something that won't cause irritation. The cleansing effectiveness isn't great, and even after washing, I'm left wondering if I've actually cleaned my face. I find myself having to rinse multiple times. - av********Oily SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 18, 2020
- The texture is thicker and stickier than watery toners, so it doesn't irritate at all when massaged in. It has a smooth application. - I usually use it as a second cleanser, but after testing, I think those who wear light makeup could use it as a primary cleanser. It even removes waterproof eyeliner that's difficult to remove with cleansing water. - The finish feels oily, giving a sense of locking in hydration. It feels like it creates a protective layer on the skin (this might be a matter of personal preference). It's a cleanser that feels like it's doing skincare at the same time, which would be great for the cold winter months. - It would have been really nice if it came in a pump bottle. Although it has a sticky consistency and doesn't exactly flow, the product tends to retract if you don't apply pressure. - It's a bit on the pricey side. - The scent is reminiscent of straw, with a somewhat vegan-like fragrance. It's quite strong, which might not appeal to everyone. - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedJun 30, 2020
As a 10-year acne sufferer and skincare nomad, I've finally found my holy grail. After just 3 weeks, not a single blemish remains! That squeaky clean feeling? Hardly any lather? But judging by the acne-free results, it seems to cleanse effectively. Perfect for those who don't wear makeup. Highly recommended as a morning cleanser! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 25, 2020
I received this 250ml bottle as a gift and have almost used it all up. During winter, it significantly reduced my deep dryness. In spring and autumn, I could use it without issues even when my skin became super sensitive. As someone with combination dehydrated skin prone to oiliness, it surprisingly helped control excess sebum production. It can be used as a second cleanser after your initial cleanse. However, it feels slippery and doesn't give a thorough cleansing sensation. While you do get used to it eventually, the initial adjustment period can be quite challenging. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMay 10, 2020
It's super slippery, so as expected, it's less drying. You can use it as a leave-in or wash-off mask for about 15 minutes. The cleansing effectiveness is quite disappointing, so I plan to use it as a second cleanser or in the morning. Hmm... Nevertheless, I'll still finish the whole bottle. - Hwahae UserDry SkinSensitive SkinAtopic SkinRecommendedApr 21, 2020
I was impressed by the ingredients. For a Kiehl's product, it's free from harmful components. It feels sticky, and since it's for sensitive skin, the cleansing effectiveness doesn't seem particularly strong. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedNov 5, 2019
Recommended as a morning cleanser! It's great for use after applying basic skincare. Since it's not too strong, it won't leave your skin feeling overly dry when used in the morning. The Centella Asiatica extract helps strengthen the skin barrier, which is a big plus! It would have been more convenient if it came in a pump bottle. I've repurchased the large size of Kiehl's Calendula Cleanser several times, and I think a pump dispenser would make it easier to use. Highly recommended for those who get small bumps due to dry skin! At first, I knew it wouldn't lather much due to the lack of surfactants. But when rinsing, it forms small droplets on oily areas, making me wonder if it was actually a cleansing cream. I even called the Kiehl's store to double-check! It is indeed a foam cleanser. Although it might feel like it's not removing oil completely, after rinsing thoroughly (10+ times), I found that those little bumps caused by dryness disappeared. I strongly recommend it as a morning cleanser, especially for skin without makeup! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 21, 2019
I have super sensitive skin. My face is prone to blemishes and gets quite oily, but in winter it stings and cracks, with acne popping up in between. Because of this, I always use gentle facial cleansers, and this product suits me perfectly. The price is a bit high, and it doesn't lather up very well. Even with frequent washing, it doesn't irritate my skin. - si*********Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedNov 30, 2018
I received a 30ml sample when I bought a cream from Kiehl's, and it's so good I had to leave a review! As someone in their 30s with sensitive, acne-prone, oily skin and combination dehydrated skin that suffers from deep dryness, this product is amazing! 1. Cleansing effectiveness: I use this after removing makeup with an oil cleanser, and it thoroughly cleans away any remaining impurities. It also gently washes away dead skin cells and blackheads without being too harsh. 2. Texture: It has a clear gel texture that doesn't foam at all. At first, I was confused, but I realized it's because it's so gentle and free from harsh surfactants. It doesn't sting my eyes at all, and it's so mild that it's even safe to use on sensitive areas or blemishes. The fragrance is also really lovely! Since it's not a foaming product, it might feel unfamiliar at first, but you get used to it over time. It's not meant for heavy-duty cleansing. It's great to use on sensitive areas with a gentle massaging motion to minimize irritation. - jy****Combination SkinAcne SkinRecommendedOct 19, 2018
It's a low pH cleanser containing centella, which is great for regenerating skin and protecting the skin barrier while cleansing. It's perfect for those who experience tightness and redness after washing. It feels like cleansing with soft honey. I'm still not used to the fact that it doesn't lather. Even though I know that abundant foam isn't necessarily good, I can't seem to appreciate the lack of lather either. When you massage it onto your skin, it feels like it's creating a thick protective layer. I tried shaving with it, and it works well for that too. It's like shaving with conditioner? Shaving often causes invisible micro-cuts, but using this regenerative cleanser with centella seems to help heal faster, which I think is great.
