First off, I'm new to face oils. Born with sensitive skin, I rarely change my skincare products and feel satisfied if I don't get any blemishes. I often envy those who can use any cosmetic without issues. As soon as the cold winds start blowing, I can feel my skin getting dry, and my skin condition becomes even more sensitive. While I've been focusing on applying serums and hydrating creams, I've heard that face oils are particularly good for dry seasons. However, due to concerns about blemishes from excess oil on my sensitive skin, I hadn't tried them before. Then I got the chance to try Veremedy's Baobab Oil from Hwahae. I cautiously used this oil by mixing just two drops with my moisturizer morning and evening, as the final step of my skincare routine. Initially, I liked how it added a glow and extra hydration to my skin, but being my first time using an oil, I honestly spent the first week nervously checking my face in the mirror every morning for any reactions. When my skin reacts to cosmetics, my face turns red and swells up. In the past, I had such a severe reaction to a Vitamin C product that my face swelled up so much I couldn't open my eyes, and I had to visit the dermatologist for a month and a half. The stress from that experience was indescribable, and as the doctor said, it made my skin even more sensitive to irritation. Since this is my first face oil, I can't really compare its application or effectiveness to others. However, even after using this product for over ten days, it hasn't caused any blemishes for me. It provides the effects of a face oil without feeling excessively rich. After all, isn't the glow and hydration what we expect from oil products? While I knew about jojoba and argan oils, I first learned about baobab oil through this product. It seems to be an oil that even sensitive skin types like mine can use safely.
ConsDownsides? As a newbie to oils, I can't really make comparisons. The scent? When using skincare products, I prefer a subtle, pleasant fragrance, but this seems almost unscented. However, on the other hand, the lack of artificial fragrance might actually be better for the skin. After all, while fragrances can be pleasant, they can also be irritating.
TipAfter applying your base skincare, there will be products in the next steps that mix well with this oil. If you adjust the amount to suit your needs and mix it with those products, you can get the benefits of using an oil without any stickiness.
