(I'm currently in the process of finding the right skincare routine for me. I've never paid much attention before, but this season change has left me with deep dryness and more noticeable smile lines, so I've started trying different products. I'm a total skincare newbie!) I have fairly normal skin with no major blemishes. I have combination skin with blackheads on my nose, but the rest tends to get dry in cooler weather. I have mild eczema, so I get nervous when my skin feels dry... 🌼Combination skin that leans dry in winter 🌼Deep dryness (around the mouth) 🌼Original skincare routine: Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin (Innisfree) 5 times Aquasource Water Gel (Biotherm) Naturally Fermented Energy Oil (Innisfree) ↓ 🌼New routine after receiving the product: Ginger Honey Ampoule Skin 2 times Miracle Barrier Serum 2 times Aquasource Water Gel -> Flowed Waterful Cream (Rohacell) (+ Naturally Fermented Energy Oil) *This review is based on about a week of use (12/28~1/4). 🌷Scent, texture, etc. First, the scent! It's that typical fragrance you get with most skincare samples. I found it tolerable. The texture isn't too thick, but feels light when applied. It absorbs quickly and leaves a barely-there finish. After application, it feels like there's a thin, soft film on the skin that smooths out the texture. (This might be why the next step, the cream, feels like it's layering on top.) 🌷Deep dryness gone! The troublesome deep dryness has disappeared! Even after a full day under the heater, my skin doesn't feel tight! 🌸Overall impression The finish is more matte than dewy. True to its 'barrier' name, it seems effective in strengthening the skin barrier (in terms of preventing moisture loss). At the very least, it improved the dullness caused by dryness. It feels like it's reinforcing the skin's basic functions, so rather than seeing dramatic results from this product alone, I think it's important to choose the right products for other steps in your routine. (+After two weeks, one application was enough to keep deep dryness at bay. They say wrinkles' worst enemy is dryness, so with the deep dryness gone, my skin feels relatively firmer and I'm less worried about smile lines!)
Cons👉Application The application was a bit disappointing. As someone who likes to massage products into my face, I found it became a bit tacky when I tried to work it in more, making my hands busy. (It's not a big issue if you apply a larger amount at once.) 👉Moisturizing feel, hydration As you can see in my changed routine, I switched my moisturizer. When I finished with Biotherm's Aquasource Water Gel (very little oil), it felt like it only addressed the deep dryness. While my skin didn't feel tight inside, the surface still felt dry, so I switched to a product with more oil. In other words, the product itself didn't give a super hydrating feel. (This was actually my biggest disappointment. Even after applying cream, there wasn't much glow, just a matte finish. So I ended up finishing with the oil I was using before.) 👉The day after first use, I got a small pimple on my cheek. It went away without any issues, though.
TipApply it twice, everyone! It solved my deep dryness issue. For the rest, I think you can achieve both deep and surface hydration by finishing with a cream or oil that suits you and the season! And when applying, don't put it on your hands first. Instead, dot it directly on your face in sections for better application.
