Skin Type - Combination skin leaning towards normal (T-zone: oily | Rest: normal) - Deep undertone, estimated to be Bright #19 - One large pore on the nose - Scar between eyebrows + blemishes suspected to be milia - Dark brown undereye circles (difficult to conceal even with concealer) - Acne scars and slight melasma on cheeks - Small bumps on forehead Preferred Concealer Type - Shade #22~#23 - Moisturizing to semi-matte - High coverage is important - Long-lasting power that maintains initial appearance is crucial - Waterproof feature not necessary - Matte finish acceptable if not for undereye circles Essential points when reviewing concealer products include product description, design, texture, color, hydration, oil content, coverage, adherence, and lasting power. Any particularly notable pros or cons are also addressed. Product Description Brand: Hanskin Name: Blemish Cover Pink Shade: #2 Apricot Volume: 12g Price: 12,000 KRW Website description: Covers dark circles, brightens eye area, smooth application, moisturizing without emphasizing dead skin cells, soothes skin, lightweight formula Color description: Recommended for natural skin tones #21~#23, covers bluish dark undereye circles Design The tube color matches the product color, making it easy to distinguish between multiple products. The cap twists open, and the small opening allows for easy control of product amount. However, it's difficult to accurately gauge the remaining product amount. Texture Has a rich texture that combines hydration and oil. The thick consistency tends to apply heavily when using fingers. Using a brush for thin application results in a less burdensome semi-matte finish. Color An honest apricot shade with a hint of white. More simply put, it's like an ivory concealer mixed with an orange tint. Despite initial doubts about its effectiveness for dark circles due to the lack of apricot tone, it definitely shows an apricot hue when applied to the skin. The apricot tone makes it less suitable as a multi-purpose concealer. Hydration Ranks in the top 3 for moisturizing among concealers I've used. Compared to the previously used Canmake Color Mixing Concealer, it feels richer and heavier. This level of hydration seems suitable for the delicate eye area. However, it feels a bit heavy when used on larger areas of the face. Oil Content Appears oily when applied thickly, but finishes semi-matte when applied thinly. It gradually dries to a semi-matte finish, with thicker applications taking longer to dry and retaining more oil. For best results, I recommend applying thinly with a brush to maintain a balance of hydration and oil. Coverage For dark circles, it provides medium coverage. It doesn't completely conceal but noticeably improves appearance. When layered with another concealer, dark circles become barely noticeable. As I prioritize non-irritation over full coverage for undereye concealing, I wasn't too disappointed. Adherence It adheres to the skin as it dries over time. Initial application feels like applying a cream, providing good adherence. The finish isn't completely undetectable, which may be a matter of personal preference. Volume The 12g volume feels generous for a dark circle concealer, as it's not typically used in large amounts. The product dispenses well with minimal squeezing, further extending its use. After about two months of daily use, there's still plenty left, making it good value for money. Waterproof Despite its moisturizing and oily nature, it surprisingly has good waterproof properties. It resisted water and regular soap when tested on the hand, with only the unfixed surface layer coming off. While it can be removed with cleansing foam, residue may remain in fine lines. For thorough removal, an oil-based cleanser is recommended to avoid any lingering product. Lasting Power Given its moisturizing and oily nature, the lasting power isn't particularly long. Applying it thinly for a semi-matte finish provided the best longevity, but this reduced coverage. Prioritizing coverage compromised longevity, creating a dilemma. Achieving both decent coverage and lasting power required constant layering, which was time-consuming and bothersome. White Cast As mentioned earlier, this product has a white undertone mixed with apricot, or an ivory concealer with an orange tint. The lack of a pure apricot tone might result in a floating white cast on darker skin tones, without any correcting effect. Fortunately, it didn't appear too white on my skin, but considering I'm slightly lighter than shade #21, even those with #23 skin tone might experience a white cast. Personally, I wish the apricot tone was more prominent. Limited Multi-purpose Use Apart from covering dark circles and evening out skin tone, it falls short in concealing melasma or blemishes, which is disappointing for multi-purpose use. It feels more like a corrector than a concealer. For those seeking to cover everything from dark circles to blemishes, melasma, and spots, I'd recommend other products. While it might suit those who frequently use apricot-toned correctors due to its generous amount, for those like me who only use it for dark circles, a smaller, less expensive product might be more appropriate. Brush Application Necessary The thick consistency and lack of an applicator tip mean that simply dabbing with a puff will result in heavy application. Using a brush is necessary, but carrying one around can be inconvenient. Moreover, storing a concealer-coated brush in a makeup bag can lead to mess and contamination of other products. While the hygienic tube packaging is good, the need for a separate brush was a major drawback for someone like me who prefers convenient products. Brush Recommendation For dark circle coverage, I don't recommend the wide concealer brushes commonly found in drugstores. These tend to apply the product over too large an area, potentially interfering with eyeshadow application and causing clumping or patchiness. As I'm still experimenting with different brushes myself, I can't recommend a specific product. However, watching YouTube videos on recommended dark circle brushes might help you find the most suitable option for your needs.
