I love how easy it is to apply. I use it before bed, when I wake up briefly in the middle of the night, and first thing in the morning. When I go out bare-faced, I carry it with me and apply it after washing my hands in public restrooms. It's gentle and doesn't cause blemishes, which I really appreciate. I also like that it comes in a tube. I bought this product expecting a strong cooling effect, but I'm disappointed that it's quite mild. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 20, 2023
I bought this because of its great ingredients. Illiyoon lives up to its reputation! It's perfect - not too oily, just right. It would be even better if it had a stronger cooling effect. Everything else about it is great though. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinJun 22, 2022
It's more hydrating than your average aloe soothing gel, which I love! Usually, soothing gels tend to dry out after a while, but this one doesn't, which is great. It's perfect for mixing with various oils and other products! It feels a bit sticky. The cooling effect seems minimal. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAug 9, 2021
Last summer and this year, I was sweating excessively, causing my neck area to become red, swollen, and develop what seemed like heat rash. The itching was driving me crazy. Last year, I tried various moisturizers and soothing gels to alleviate the itching, but found that a simple, oil-free moisturizer worked best. This year, when the same issue persisted, I decided to try the Illiyoon Soothing Gel. Unfortunately, it didn't provide the relief I was hoping for. The only positive I can mention is that I managed to buy it at a discounted price of 9,900 won at Olive Young, which is quite reasonable compared to its regular price. Given that it's an Illiyoon product, the quality ingredients go without saying. I've already mentioned its ineffectiveness for itching, so let me highlight other drawbacks: 1. Slow absorption: As many reviewers have pointed out, it doesn't absorb well and feels sticky until fully absorbed. I even tried applying it on my arms and legs like a body cream, and had to be extra careful not to let my limbs touch any surfaces until it was completely absorbed. 2. Lack of cooling effect and hydration: Last year, I used a soothing gel from Cynic that contained hyaluronic acid. While it didn't absorb quickly, it did provide a noticeable cooling effect. The Illiyoon gel, however, offers neither a cooling sensation nor a feeling of hydration. It feels like an ordinary gel that you might apply after showering to alleviate dryness on your arms and legs. While it does reduce dryness to some extent, it doesn't feel like the moisture is truly penetrating the skin. For someone seeking a soothing effect, this product was ultimately disappointing. I won't be repurchasing it. - Hwahae UserDry SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 2, 2021
1. At first, I thought it was a regular aloe soothing gel, but I was surprised by its slightly opaque appearance. It feels a bit heavier than typical soothing gels. I never liked regular aloe gels because they felt cool and calming at first but dried out quickly. This product, however, retains moisture well and feels like it's creating a protective barrier on my face. 2. I have super sensitive skin and an irregular lifestyle. With a change in sunscreen and the summer heat causing an explosion of sebum and excess oil, I was starting to break out. After applying this before bed, while it didn't completely eliminate my blemishes and acne, it did prevent new ones from forming. It's gentle and has a decent calming effect! 3. I love that it's fragrance-free. When applying, it feels like it's enveloping your skin, which might seem heavy at first, but it absorbs quickly so you don't feel any discomfort. As it's definitely a soothing gel, it might feel a bit lacking when used alone. It doesn't provide as much of a cooling effect as typical aloe soothing gels. Applying a thick layer to your face helps calm the skin quickly! It's also great to mix a bit into a grain mask instead of water for an amazing effect! - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJul 2, 2021
The Hwahae Testers Review #Hygiene The tube packaging makes it hygienic and convenient to use. #Ingredients It's labeled for sensitive/dry skin, and true to that, the ingredients are really gentle. I love that it's fragrance-free! #Texture I thought it would be transparent, but it's actually a semi-transparent white gel. It's slightly thinner than regular aloe soothing gels. #Hydration While I mentioned the cooling effect as a downside, this product really excels in long-lasting hydration! If aloe gel is 90% cooling and 10% hydration, the Illiyoon Soothing Gel is 20% cooling and 80% hydration! (Of course, it's less moisturizing compared to cream products.) Unlike aloe, which evaporates quickly, the Illiyoon product keeps skin moisturized for 1-2 hours, leaving a thin protective layer. It's slightly sticky compared to aloe, but not as refreshing. Interestingly, because it seems to seal in moisture, I noticed a difference when washing my face the next day! I usually get quite oily in my T-zone in the morning, but with this, my skin was less greasy and felt smoother! It made me wonder if I'd been lacking hydration all along - the difference in moisturization is significant! #Cooling Effect I always use aloe/tea tree soothing gels from brands like Aromatica and Sidmool year-round. Especially in summer, I love applying soothing gel as the last step of my skincare routine because it's so cooling and I prefer lightweight textures for a fresh finish. In this aspect, the Illiyoon Soothing Gel was a bit disappointing. I stored it in a cool place (not the fridge) and applied it, but the cooling effect was significantly less compared to aloe or tea tree gels. I usually apply my skincare in this order: toner-serum-soothing gel or toner-moisturizer-soothing gel. After trying it with various products I own, I found it pairs best with green tea serum! The lightweight green tea serum complements the hydrating soothing gel really well. As someone with oily skin, I'll probably use this as the final moisturizing step in my evening routine during summer, and in winter, I'll apply it lightly in the morning after my exfoliating toner! - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 28, 2021
I've tried various body products from Illiyoon, including body emulsions, body creams, hand creams, and feminine washes, and they've all been great for me. So when I was selected to test their soothing gel, I was really excited to see how it would perform. First off, true to Illiyoon's reputation for gentleness, the ingredients are skin-friendly. I used it on both my face and body without any irritation or blemishes. The biggest advantage is that despite being a soothing gel, the hydration doesn't evaporate quickly and lasts for quite a long time. Usually, soothing gels feel very hydrating at first, but after absorption, the moisture quickly disappears, leaving your face dry. However, this product kept my skin moisturized for a long time, and even after absorption, it didn't feel dry, providing excellent hydration. I appreciated that it comes in a tube, which is more hygienic. Some other soothing gels come in jars, which can be a bit unsanitary when applying to both body and face, but this tube format allows for more hygienic use. It was also effective in calming my skin. In this weather where the sun is getting hotter, it helped soothe my arms exposed to the strong sunlight and my face irritated from wearing masks. This is definitely a must-have product for the increasingly hot summer! It does feel a bit sticky when applying due to its high moisture content. Because it's so hydrating and moisturizing, it takes a bit longer to absorb compared to other soothing gels. If you're expecting a soothing gel with a strong cooling effect, you might be disappointed as this doesn't have much of a cooling sensation. If you want to experience a cooling effect along with the soothing properties, try storing it in the refrigerator for a refreshing feel! For those who want to use it as part of their facial skincare routine, I recommend using it together with an essence or ampoule for even better results. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJun 7, 2021
I highly recommend this as a summer moisturizer for dry and combination skin types! I often get contact dermatitis, usually from dead skin cell removal. When my skin starts to flare up and turn red, applying this helps calm it down nicely. Although it's called a soothing gel, it's surprisingly hydrating. It feels more like a calming emulsion? During fall, winter, and spring, it works well on my slightly oily T-zone. Great value for money! I'll definitely keep repurchasing it. I used to like Illiyoon Ato Emulsion for my face, but recently I wanted something lighter, and this is perfect! Depending on your skin condition, it can occasionally feel a bit greasy. Don't expect a cooling effect like aloe vera gel - it's more of a calming, hydrating sensation! You could use this in place of a hydrating cream! It's gentle enough that you can mix it with separate extracts if you'd like. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSep 6, 2020
It's not irritating at all! Not impressed. Aren't soothing gels usually just hydrating? This one is really oily. I normally layer soothing gel with other skincare products, but when I replaced my usual gel with this, it made my skin feel super greasy. No cooling effect either. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinAug 1, 2020
[Ingredients] As someone struggling with contact dermatitis and super sensitive skin, I decided to try this soothing gel as part of my skincare minimalism journey. It's free from harmful ingredients and doesn't contain any pore-clogging components, which is perfect for my combination dehydrated skin. I'm using it with peace of mind. [Application] The texture falls between a typical soothing gel and a cream. While it doesn't glide on like water, it spreads easily without feeling thick. [Hydration] Other soothing gels I've used felt cool initially but left my face feeling dry and tight over time. This product, however, addresses that shortcoming with incredible hydration. Applying just this after cleansing keeps my skin from feeling dry at all - it's perfect for my skincare minimalism goals! I'm satisfied with how it provides both soothing and hydrating effects. [Fragrance-Free] I use many Illiyoon products, and while they're fragrance-free, some have an unpleasant scent. This product, however, is truly fragrance-free, making it suitable even for those with scent sensitivities. [Calming] Recently, my contact dermatitis caused redness, swelling, intense itching, and a burning sensation all over my face. This product quickly calmed my skin. After washing my face, applying just this helped reduce the contact dermatitis symptoms and prevented dryness-induced itching. It also aids in strengthening the skin barrier, which I really appreciate. I highly recommend this for those with super sensitive skin, those struggling with contact dermatitis, and combination dehydrated skin types looking to minimize their skincare routine! While the cooling effect isn't as strong as I expected, I understand that since it's designed to be gentle enough for babies, it shouldn't feel too cold. Apart from this, I love everything from the ingredients to how it absorbs! I think this could be enough on its own for most people, except those with extremely dry skin. However, those with very oily skin might find it a bit heavy for summer use. As I'm minimizing my skincare routine due to contact dermatitis, focusing on non-irritating products, this is perfect for skincare minimalism. It provides hydration, soothes the skin, and even strengthens the skin barrier.
