When I first used it, I noticed a significant reduction in sebum production and felt it was definitely effective. However, as I continued using it, it seemed like my skin developed a tolerance, and I couldn't feel much of an effect anymore. - bl*********Combination SkinAtopic SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRecommendedJan 31, 2025
I regularly use this as a nose pack to remove sebum, especially after getting a facial at the skincare clinic. With consistent use, it seems to catch even the stubborn blackheads. It's essential to moisturize thoroughly after use! This seems to be a fundamental step in sebum management. - sn********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesWrinkles/ElasticityEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMar 18, 2024
It really does an amazing job of softening sebum! I use it by soaking a cotton pad, placing it on my nose, then gently scraping with a cotton swab. I folded the pad slightly so it didn't cover my entire nose, just the upper part. As you can see in the photo, the lower part still has blackheads, but the upper part is completely clear!! It's so incredible! The photo might not show it clearly, but when I look in the mirror, it's truly amazing! It stings a bit! Right after applying, there's a slight burning sensation, as if it's melting your skin? But even though I have super sensitive skin, it's just that initial feeling - it doesn't actually cause prolonged redness or breakouts, so it was okay for me. Since it can be irritating, first slightly dampen the cotton pad with water! Squeeze out the excess, then soak it with the product before using. Even when used with water, the effects are still fantastic!! The photo proves it! - fc********Dry SkinAcne SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsEnlarged PoresDead Skin CellsRecommendedSep 4, 2023
I've tried extraction and cleansing oils to get rid of my blackheads, but nothing really worked... So I decided to give this famous blackhead-removing product a shot as a last resort. For about 4 days, it was great at removing blackheads and didn't cause any blemishes. But on the 5th day, I suddenly broke out with tons of pimples... I wonder if it's because of the harsh ingredients. I'm still struggling to get rid of those blemishes. While it's truly effective for blackhead removal, it caused way too many pimples... Maybe using it occasionally could be okay? But personally, I'm too scared to use it again for fear of another breakout. First off, it's way overpriced, and the ingredients are so harsh that it completely irritated my skin... I definitely don't recommend it. - 26******Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsInner DrynessRecommendedJul 7, 2023
Since it's an esthetic brand, the price is higher, but it's definitely better than products sold at Olive Young! If you're looking for a sebum softener for self-care, I recommend using an esthetic product instead of buying just anything from Olive Young. I tried this product while searching for a replacement for the discontinued Christine Valmy X-Emulsion I used to use. The original Christine Valmy product was really great, and it's disappointing that other brands can't replicate that clean, refreshing feeling of thoroughly cleansed pores. This product also doesn't quite achieve that perfect user experience. - gy****Dehydrated SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesEnlarged PoresRednessRecommendedMay 29, 2023
It's incredibly effective at breaking down sebum. Nothing else compares when it comes to this. However, it might be too harsh for my skin. A few days after using it, I notice the treated areas seem to peel, almost as if the outer layer of skin is coming off. This makes it difficult to apply makeup for several days. - yu*****Dehydrated SkinSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedAug 1, 2022
I've been really stressed about blackheads and tried various products since middle school like Mi Factory's Pig Nose Pack, volcanic scoria, and Witch Factory's cleansing oil, but none of them removed blackheads as satisfyingly as I wanted. But wow, this Super Extractor showed me a whole new world! It works well even without using a steam towel, and I found it even more effective when used after showering. Some people use aqua peeling devices, but with this, you can just lightly swipe with a cotton swab and the sebum comes right off! I also loved the refreshing tea tree scent. As someone with an oily T-zone that caused me a lot of stress, this product has given me a new lease on life. I'm extremely satisfied and highly recommend it! I wish I had known about this earlier, I could have managed my pores so much better! That's one regret I have. Also, the price is a bit steep... My sister, who has blemish-prone skin, said it stung quite a bit. If you have sensitive skin, it might be good to dilute it with water when using. I heard that keeping the skin consistently hydrated is key for proper sebum softening. Some people use plastic wrap, but I found using Silcot cotton pads kept everything moist even better than regular cotton pads wrapped in plastic. After removing sebum, make sure to fill your pores with hydration. I always follow up with a DIY modeling mask! - jj****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJun 16, 2022
This is the first time I've tried a standalone sebum softener, and it definitely brings up white sebum. Although it's pricey, the volume is huge - I doubt I'll be able to use it all within a year of opening. The irritation is quite intense. I expected some, but my skin really burns and turns red. The redness also lasts for a long time. My skin has become super sensitive, so I definitely can't use it frequently. Also, it feels like it's only bringing up surface-level sebum. - tj**********Dry SkinBrightening/Dark SpotsSebum/BlackheadsInner DrynessEnlarged PoresRecommendedJun 5, 2022
It has a slightly tingly or cooling sensation, and it seems to help with sebum production. However, since it's quite strong, I can't use it too often - maybe once a week would be good! The price is on the higher side, and there are some potentially harmful ingredients, which is disappointing. - ar*********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedMay 31, 2022
It really cleans out the sebum effectively. I've never done a deep pore cleanse before, only gently wiping with cotton swabs. After using it twice, I noticed my nose and between my eyebrows became much cleaner. Even though I have sensitive skin, it wasn't too harsh on those areas. I used it on my chin and around my mouth where I had blemishes... Oh no! I only thought about my nose and between my eyebrows, assuming it would be fine on my chin too. I applied it with cotton and rubbed gently, but it felt like I got a burn! It stung so badly. I've learned my lesson never to use it on areas with active breakouts again. After using this product, I applied a pore-refining ampoule and noticed my pores seemed even tighter compared to when I use the ampoule alone.
