I used to think that squeaky-clean washing was refreshing, but after seeing concerns on YouTube and in skincare communities about how it can damage the skin barrier, I felt uneasy. This product, however, doesn't leave that squeaky feeling, which gave me a sense of reassurance. For me, the real advantage is that it's a gentle cleanser that doesn't compromise my skin barrier - nothing more, nothing less! My skin reacted badly to this... I'm so disappointed. I trusted the Calendula line because of all the good reviews, and while other products from the line were fine, this one specifically caused tiny blemishes or what looked like small fluid-filled bumps to appear. I guess it's just not compatible with my skin... - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 9, 2020
The fragrance is subtle and pleasant. I like a squeaky clean feeling, and this cleanser delivers that quite well. I initially bought the sample size and used about half of it. It wasn't bad, so I was considering purchasing the full-size product. However, during the seasonal change, I was worried about blemishes, and to my dismay, my face gradually broke out completely. I thought maybe my toner was the issue, so I switched to a gentler one, but it made no difference. What started as a few blemishes turned into my face being covered in what looks like hives. I checked the ingredients list and found two potential allergens. I had also tried Kiehl's Calendula mini kit, but the toner didn't suit me either. I continued using this foam cleanser (in its mini size) because I didn't want to waste it, but my face has broken out worse than ever before. So, I'm discontinuing use from today. (I wonder if this is why my face was fine when I woke up but gradually broke out after washing - I was using it for morning cleansing, then at night, sleeping, and using it again in the morning.) While the product itself isn't bad, as someone prone to allergies, I'm saddened by the severe allergic reaction and blemishes it caused. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJul 26, 2019
It felt cleaner than the cleanser I used before. For some reason, my skin had a bad reaction. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinJan 17, 2019
I honestly can't think of anything positive to say about this product. It just didn't work for me at all... While skin types vary from person to person, this product was a complete mismatch for me. I initially had some cystic acne and acne scars on my cheeks, but after using this for just three days, I developed small bumps on my previously clear forehead, and cystic acne spread all over my cheeks. My skin became so bad I couldn't even bear to look in the mirror. If you have super sensitive skin or are prone to cystic acne like me, I'd strongly advise against using this product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJun 5, 2018
I bought this after a friend highly recommended it. When I first used it, I loved how gentle and mild it felt on my skin. Perhaps because I have sensitive skin, after using it a few times, I noticed small blemishes appearing on my face and my skin started to react negatively. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 18, 2018
I switched to this cleanser because my usual one suddenly started causing breakouts, and I wondered if it was the cleanser's fault. The fragrance is pleasant and lovely. I use about one pump with a bubble maker, and it produces rich foam that doesn't dissipate quickly, which I like. While it doesn't seem to have the intense cleansing power its name might suggest, it's sufficient for me since I don't wear makeup. Although it hasn't necessarily cleared up my acne-prone skin, it hasn't caused more breakouts either. I feel like it's reduced my sebum production, so I've repurchased it and continue to use it. I repurchased this at duty-free, but when I checked, the ingredients were different. I used it nervously, and my skin reacted badly. Wondering what went wrong, I searched the Hwahae ingredient dictionary and found that the duty-free version contained more problematic ingredients. Specifically, it includes citral, a red-flag ingredient. I thought it might be a pre-reformulation version, but when I checked those ingredients, they were different too. It seems duty-free shops sell a different product...? When I first saw this product's ingredients on Hwahae, I didn't think they were great, but the duty-free version is even worse. Trying to save a little money might end up costing me more. My skin has improved in terms of acne and isn't particularly sensitive, but if the duty-free product caused such a reaction, it must be pretty bad. The regular version was good, just not the duty-free one. If you're planning to buy from duty-free, please check the ingredients first. The ingredients in the Korean version and the duty-free version are different. I'm worried about how bad citral might be for the skin. I'll upload a photo of the ingredients from the duty-free product. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 23, 2017
The good thing about it is that it doesn't have a very strong scent. It tasted bitter and my skin turned inside out. I purposely bought the entire mild Calendula line because I was having skin issues, but after using it, my condition got even worse. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 19, 2017
It was moisturizing and not drying. The fragrance was subtle and nice. But it really didn't work for my oily skin. I used it and my face immediately turned upside down. After washing my face and a little while later, I looked in the mirror and saw a bunch of pimples had popped up. And I hadn't even put on any makeup! I was so upset I thought I was going to die. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMay 23, 2016
I don't have any positive points, but how do I write more than 20 characters? My skin is combination and prone to acne. I bought it because it was said to be good, but it actually got worse. After using this, my previously great skin completely deteriorated. I will never use this product again. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 2, 2016
The foam lathers up well I'm using a vibrating cleanser and the foam is rich and abundant ...Could this be the reason it's flared up? I thought it was because of my menstrual cycle..this is supposed to calm it down, so I washed more, but my skin keeps breaking out and it's itchy and red like mosquito bites. There are more than 5 inflamed spots now...when I look closely, it seems like hives. It's my menstrual cycle and...I thought it was because of the pollen in the air right now...but I've never had my skin flare up this badly in a single day before. I've just been at home and washed properly...please don't let this be because of the product. I'll write a review again after not using this for a week..the ingredients have 4 allergens in them, oh no
