Once absorbed, it leaves the skin feeling plump and supple with just the right amount of glow.
ConsFor those with oily skin, it might feel a bit too rich.

ConsWhile there's nothing particularly disappointing, those with oily skin might find it a bit rich

Now I only get two or three blemishes due to hormonal cycles. Since I still get occasional breakouts, I'm left with some redness, so I focus on soothing my skin. Why I bought this product: I was using a calming toner, but it felt dry no matter how many times I applied it. I thought about trying something to use before toner and considered another first essence from Isntree. However, after reading reviews that said it really didn't work for some people, I decided to try this essence with soothing mugwort instead. After using a full bottle: At first, I was worried the mugwort might not agree with my skin (trauma from past cosmetic mistakes). But as I used it for days, weeks, and months, I became more and more satisfied. Of course, I had no blemishes from this product, and I felt it was effective in calming my skin. It looks like water but is much more hydrating than expected. In summer, applying 3-4 layers by patting it into my skin was enough without needing additional products. (Of course, as autumn passed and winter came, this alone wasn't enough for deep hydration.) As I used this, my previous toner was pushed aside, and I continue to use this product as my toner. (The photo shows one empty bottle and one newly opened bottle I'm currently using.)
ConsWhile this product is hydrating, in summer I noticed my face felt quite oily when I woke up in the morning. The heat while sleeping probably contributed to this... I think people with very oily skin might find the oiliness uncomfortable in summer. I'm not too dissatisfied, so I continue to use it regularly.
TipWithout using cotton pads, dispense a small amount onto your hands and gently pat it into your skin for hydration.

It has a water-like texture. While it's great overall, it does have a bit of richness to it. It's not the type you'd want to layer multiple times like some watery toners - less is more here. As someone with oily skin, I found applying it just once worked best for me. I really appreciate that the bottle is glass, not plastic. The scent is pleasant too.
ConsThe richness is a bit disappointing for me, and the dispenser tends to release more product than needed with each pump.

Bought it on sale, so it felt like a better deal than the 30% off Mi* products. Used it as a soothing mask during summer by keeping it in the fridge, which was great for calming my reddened skin. The cooling effect seemed to help with soothing. Really liked the included kit with cotton pads for use as a soothing mask. However, the pads absorb a lot of product, so it runs out quickly. While I liked the packaging and price, I broke out with blemishes and small bumps after the first use. I almost stopped using it, but continued out of not wanting to waste it, and the breakouts eventually subsided. Still, I won't be repurchasing.
ConsNo dramatic effects, and I broke out with blemishes and small bumps when I first used it. Not sure if it was purging or just not suitable for my skin. It feels slightly itchy and makes my skin feel congested. Not recommended for oily skin. Expensive when not on sale, and it feels greasy, like it's not absorbing well. Won't be repurchasing.

The soothing effect isn't that noticeable... I'm just using it without much thought. Maybe its main advantage is that it's affordable among mugwort essences?! Seems like buying COSRX products on 11st Street is the cheapest option.
ConsThe finish isn't fresh. It doesn't feel oily, but it somehow gives an oily sensation... The scent is also a bit off-putting. It leaves behind a smell that's reminiscent of sebum.
TipAs I mentioned above, it's most cost-effective to buy it on 11st Street using discount coupons.

That's why I use it so frequently. I think the First series was my favorite among their products. This product was a real friend to my skin, noticeably calming it for the first week of use. That's why I really fell in love with it. While it does have a scent, it's not overpowering, which is a relief.
ConsThe price is a bit disappointing. The regular price is really quite steep. Never buy it at full price - it's not worth it. This product seems highly concentrated for soothing purposes. So on days when you don't really need it, applying it might actually cause blemishes to appear. That's why I only used it on days when my skin was really stressed. It felt a bit rich for my liking.
TipUse it as a mask. It seems to have a more soothing effect when used as a mask rather than just applying it normally.

But then I won a Hwahae Testers experience for Cynic's mugwort essence, so I gave it a try. Firstly, the scent isn't exactly mugwort, but more like medicinal herbs. The fragrance is subtle and fades quickly, so it wasn't off-putting. Instead of using it as an exfoliating toner, I applied it with my hands. It was more hydrating than I expected. When my skin was red, I compared using just a sheet mask versus applying the mugwort essence before the mask. The latter was more effective in reducing redness and had a better soothing effect. From the day I started using this product, despite having blemishes, oily skin, redness, and being super sensitive, my skin didn't get worse. The fact that it didn't irritate during this time suggests it's gentle and suits my skin well. The 150ml quantity is reasonable, and while it's currently pricey, I have a feeling the price might drop. Plus, if you use coupons on certain websites, you could probably get it at a good deal. Remember, even Cicanoid was expensive at first...
ConsSince I have combination dehydrated skin, and it's summer, I can't layer this more than three times because of the rich feeling. With only mugwort and hexanediol in the ingredients, I wonder if this rich sensation is due to the hexanediol or the mugwort? I think it might have worked better if I'd used it in autumn.
TipFor combination dehydrated skin, apply a maximum of three layers! Any more layering becomes too much. If I were still in my 20s with combination dehydrated skin, even three layers would have been overwhelming, but being in my 30s now...

As a teenager dealing with frequent blemishes and super sensitive skin, I was thrilled that this product didn't cause any breakouts or irritation after use. Absorbs well After cleansing, I applied this product using the 7-skin method, then used it again by putting a bit more on my hands. Being a water-based formula, it absorbed into my skin incredibly well, which I absolutely loved.
ConsTexture The final feel on the skin is quite rich, so I wouldn't recommend this to those who dislike an oily finish like myself. Price With a price tag just over 30,000 won, it's not something you can easily buy on a whim. While the volume isn't particularly small, it's still quite expensive.
TipI'd recommend using this with cotton pad masks rather than the 7-skin method.
