Absorbs well: It spreads easily without feeling sticky. Absorbs well: It quickly sinks into the skin when patted in. Skin feels: It seems to lack both hydration and richness when used alone. Additional moisturizing is essential, especially in winter. Blemish improvement: Given the cica ingredient, I bought it expecting skin soothing and blemish improvement. However, I was disappointed not to see significant effects in this area. While using the entire bottle didn't worsen my skin, I don't think it improved either. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinMar 29, 2023
Watery texture Smooth and silky feel Fragrance-free Light enough for daily use as a basic skincare item! I don't really feel like it's providing much hydration or moisture. It's supposed to be a cica product, but I'd rather recommend using a cica-tenol ampoule. Not that it's bad, but it's just a bit underwhelming. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJul 13, 2022
The cica ampoule helps replenish moisture and is great for use without causing any blemishes While there's nothing particularly disappointing, compared to the Dive In serum I used before, it feels slightly less hydrating and a bit richer in texture - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinMay 12, 2022
The amount is more generous than expected, and it seems to absorb well with a nice application It feels like it lacks hydration and is quite rich in texture. I didn't notice any particular effects - Hwahae UserOily SkinSensitive SkinApr 10, 2022
I loved how refreshing and cool it felt. It really helped calm my redness after application. It seems a bit rich for my liking. Even after some time, it still feels somewhat oily on my skin, which is disappointing. - Hwahae UserDry SkinFeb 18, 2022
Incredibly lightweight formula, absorbs quickly! - Compared to other serums, it's lighter and absorbs faster. You can even layer it twice without feeling heavy at all. - This might be just my personal impression, but like their mung bean cleanser, Be Plain products leave such a wonderfully soft feeling after application. It's one of the reasons I've grown to love this brand. Hydration is better for oily skin than dry, and summer rather than winter - As someone with dry skin, I find it slightly lacking for winter use. While it's moisturizing and gentle, it doesn't quite give that fully hydrated feeling with just one layer of serum. However, it works well if you apply two layers and follow up with a moisturizing cream! The fast absorption makes it perfect for those who dislike stickiness It feels more hydrating than nourishing, with a light texture that might be slightly insufficient for dry skin in winter - When I go to work wearing just sunscreen and brightening moisturizer, my skin gets very dry due to the heater. I first wipe my face with another brand's serum pad, then apply this serum! It's so lightweight, there's no discomfort at all - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinNov 25, 2021
I recently bought this because I was experiencing some blemishes, and I was impressed by how well it calmed redness. I also love that it's fragrance-free. It was incredibly gentle on my troubled skin with zero irritation. The texture absorbs well without any stickiness, and it's quick to sink in. I love how it leaves my skin feeling smooth. The completely transparent packaging is so sleek! It's great for checking how much product is left, which I really appreciate. This product doesn't have exceptional hydration, and it lacks richness, so it wasn't suitable for addressing deep dryness. Of course, I'm not just applying the ampoule alone - I use a full routine with toner, emulsion, and cream. But compared to other ampoules I've used before, I definitely felt my skin getting dry faster. Even though I don't have dry skin, I still experienced this, which is disappointing. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinOct 15, 2021
Well... there weren't many positives to speak of. If I had to mention something, I guess the bottle design is clean and pretty, so it's nice to look at? First off, what I dislike most is the lack of hydration. This doesn't feel hydrating at all, just oily. After applying, my skin feels slippery, and there's an oily sheen rather than a healthy glow, which I really didn't like. Also, after using it, I noticed some small blemishes appearing on my cheeks, which was quite disappointing. - Hwahae UserDehydrated SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 9, 2021
Skin Type ✅ Combination Dehydrated Skin Sebum and oil galore, but dry underneath. Always dealing with small inflammatory bumps, which can turn into pus-filled blemishes if neglected. ✅ Easily Clogged Pores Even slight pore blockage leads to bumps within hours, quickly turning inflammatory if not addressed. ✅ Heat-Sensitive Zones Not necessarily thin or weak skin. Just prone to redness from heat. Rising skin temperature accelerates acne flare-ups. ✅ Highly Reactive to Hormones & Environmental Factors Skin condition varies drastically with menstrual cycle. Sensitive to internal factors like fatigue and external changes like temperature fluctuations. ✅ Slow Wound Healing Blemishes leave scars easily. Once formed, scars take ages to fade. Product Review - Positives While not dramatically soothing, this product was my go-to when blemishes appeared. It doesn't clog pores and is gentle. Seems effective for managing both compromised skin barrier and acne simultaneously. Product Review - Areas for Improvement The Oily Feel While it's quite hydrating, there's also a noticeable oily sensation. This does contribute to a decent moisturizing effect. However, I still felt it wasn't quite enough on its own, so I had to follow up with a cream. It's a bit of a paradox - it feels oily, but doesn't lock in moisture completely. Using it alone doesn't seem to be the best match for my skin. That said, I'm not keen on layering multiple products just to make this one work. Stress-free skin is ideal, but the number of skincare ingredients can be a significant stressor. I recommend watching Director Pi's YouTube video about creating an all-purpose toner. Actually, I suggest watching all of her videos. From experience, a skincare diet seems to be the best for skin health. TMI: When I first started my skincare diet, my skin was extremely tight, dry, and flaky. I persevered, and eventually, my skin learned to balance its oil and moisture levels naturally. It was amazing. Managing Skin Temperature Heat is a major cause of skin aging and deterioration. Higher temperatures increase water evaporation, leading to dryness, and bacteria thrive in warm environments, worsening skin troubles. For those with long hair, tying it up helps tremendously! TMI: I usually wear my hair down, but recently, I've been tying it up due to the heat. I was surprised by how much it lowered my face temperature. Also, I've been sitting without leaning on my office chair's backrest, which helped even more! This shows that the back of the neck and back are crucial for facial temperature. Let's avoid irritating our face with too many products. Exercise Precautions Pay attention to cleansing before and after exercise! Before exercising, clear your pores (water rinse or light cleanse) to allow sweat to exit easily. Don't let sweat linger on your face, as oxidation can lead to bacterial growth, which is more harmful than you might think. Skincare According to Menstrual Cycle Menstruation: Estrogen levels are lowest, and skin regeneration is at its weakest. Avoid peeling and irritation. Focus on soothing and moisturizing. Follicular Phase: Estrogen levels peak, making this the golden period for skin. Almost anything applied works well, and recovery is quick if issues occur. Ovulation: Prepare for "that time." Progesterone increases, leading to more dead skin cells and oil production. The luteinizing hormone released on ovulation day can cause a sudden outbreak of small acne on the forehead, potentially developing into painful, purulent acne. As we enter the luteal phase, oil production skyrockets, so oil and moisture management becomes crucial. I set an alarm for ovulation day, increase my supplements, and carefully use AHA/BHA based on my skin condition. Exfoliation and oil management are key. Luteal Phase: Progesterone peaks, causing a party of excess oil and dead skin cells. I use AHA/BHA almost daily, but this can damage the skin barrier, so I balance exfoliation with barrier care. I typically use AHA/BHA + squalane/ceramides, or just BHA on areas if the outer layer of dead skin has been removed significantly. Depending on acne or inflammation, I use soothing ingredients like tea tree, centella, or madecassoside, but only on specific areas if my skin is in poor condition. Using ingredients with anti-inflammatory and exfoliating properties like Houttuynia Cordata or witch hazel can also be beneficial. Internal Nutrition Management Skincare products aren't a fundamental solution. Health management is key. As I started exercising and paying attention to my health, I became more energetic, menstrual symptoms improved, and my skin got better too. Here's what worked best for me, in order of effectiveness: Minimal makeup Sleep before midnight & 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep Drink cold water on an empty stomach in the morning & frequent small sips throughout the day Daily 30+ minute jog (aerobic exercise = sweat) Eat more rice Eat lots of vegetables & fruits Eat what you want and avoid stress Reducing Oiliness Vitamin A & Zinc: For oily, acne-prone skin, vitamin A supplements can reduce oil production. What people often miss is that zinc helps vitamin A absorption. I was able to stop prescription medications by taking zinc supplements. But be careful not to overdo it. Vitamin E & Linoleic Acid: These two are involved in oil production and can cause sebum imbalance if deficient. Hormone Management Understanding your female hormone status is crucial. I had an estrogen deficiency, so taking lignans and pomegranate helped balance my hormones (I'm also taking gamma-linolenic acid). My menstrual cramps and PMS disappeared, and my skin improved simultaneously. Product Recommendations (as of 09.09.21) I don't have any must-have products yet, but here are some I'm using or have been satisfied with: Cleanser: La Cielleule Grain Powder (💙 almost settled on this) Basics: Mamonde Chamomile Toner + Jojoba Oil (mixed in an empty bottle) (💙 currently settled) Torien Hyaluronic Acid Ampoule (💛 safe) Scinic Simple Skin (💛 safe) Ariul Peeling Pad (occasional use) Centellian Madeca Cream Power Boosting Formula (functional) COSRX Propolis Ampoule (not a favorite, but always on hand) Spot Treatment: Mediheal Tea Tree Biome Cica Spot Serum Sunscreen: None. I wear a sun cap. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinSep 6, 2021
It feels like water and seems gentle without irritation. I think it would be even better for those with oily skin. The hydration and rich feel are a bit lacking. As someone who prefers thick and concentrated formulas, this feels a bit weak to me.
