It brightens your complexion naturally, perfect for those who don't have very dark skin tones. The finish is pleasantly matte, making it ideal for these mask-wearing times. When first applied, it feels a bit heavy, like there's a layer sitting on your face. However, you quickly get used to it or it absorbs - I'm not sure which - but it becomes more comfortable. Works great as a foundation-free sunscreen. - rm******Combination SkinSensitive SkinSebum/BlackheadsDark CirclesInner DrynessWrinkles/ElasticityRecommendedNov 20, 2021
This sunscreen applies smoothly with a light, refreshing feel that doesn't weigh down your skin. I have normal to dry skin, and I used it comfortably throughout the entire summer without any issues. There's a slight white cast, so it's essential to control the amount you use. The ingredient list for Papa Recipe products is a bit disappointing for those with sensitive skin. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinRecommendedApr 7, 2021
Since my face tends to get oily over time, I usually don't like moisturizing formulas. However, this product sets to a matte finish, so I don't need to apply a separate oil control product. The brightening effect is strong, and it lasts better than I expected. The Papa Recipe brand sometimes causes my sensitive skin to react. Although there's a decent amount of product, it's quite thick when squeezing it out, so I always end up with an awkward amount left over. It's matte, so you need to apply it quickly. Otherwise, it sets before you can blend it properly, leaving visible patches. I didn't use any additional powder after applying this product since I have combination dehydrated skin. If you have dry skin, you'll probably need to apply a generous amount of moisturizer beforehand. - qu*******Oily SkinAcne SkinMar 27, 2021
It leaves my skin feeling soft and powdery. Even though I have oily skin that often gets greasy, when I use this, there's no excess oil by the end of the workday. The white cast is extremely noticeable. This is something that really needs to be improved. It also seems to clog my pores. - wi******Combination SkinSensitive SkinRecommendedMar 10, 2021
As someone with winter cool-toned, sensitive, combination dehydrated skin, this has been the best sunscreen for me. I've tried various sunscreens from overseas and domestic brands, but I'm currently using this one for the third time. * Absorbs well (though amount control is necessary) * Natural brightening effect * No eye irritation or blemishes at all * Sufficient on its own for quick outings For reference, I've tried sunscreens from the Hwahae rankings but had to give up due to eye irritation. I rarely wear makeup and have quite a few dark spots, but I prefer a natural look. This product was perfect for that. Amount control is necessary. It tends to leave a slight white cast, so you need to apply about two pea-sized amounts evenly over your face. Depending on your skin condition, dry areas may become more noticeable, but that's just my skin situation... After some time, my makeup tends to pill due to my oily skin. That's why I think it's a sunscreen that requires careful amount control. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 22, 2021
✔Skin type: Combination dehydrated skin, blemishes on T-zone, prone to breakouts around the nose. Large nose pores causing severe congestion. ✔Complexion: Very dark skin. Prefer Espoir foundation range (covers a wide range of shades up to deep skin tones). ✔Basic skincare routine: Splash watery toner on face (like Dokdo Toner or Swanycoco Vitamin Toner), followed by a light, refreshing serum. Occasionally use a light cream (often skip this step). ✔Preferred makeup style: Natural brightening look. Dislike overly white cast. Prefer sheer coverage that applies thinly (don't like heavy feel). Avoid thick layers or cakey finish, rarely touch up. Just remove excess oil. Love matte finish. No to slippery or sticky textures, must be powdery and fresh. ✔What I liked: Amazingly, even a tiny pea-sized amount can brighten the entire face. As someone with very dark skin, I'm simply amazed. Similar sunscreen: I*ly Oat Mild Moisture Sun Cream (check early 2017 reviews. Good ingredients but chalky, drying, white cast, hard to cleanse). Not sure if it's been reformulated. At least that one's cheaper and has more product. ✔All-day discomfort: Surface feels like plaster, but underneath my skin feels sticky. All day long, touching my face leaves a clear fingerprint of chalky powder on my hands. Irritation level rising. How can it transfer so much yet still stay on my face?! ✔Clogged nose pores: Scraping it off reveals a sticky, gooey mess. Feels like peeling off wet plaster gauze used for hand molds. ✔Scary brightening for dark skin: No natural look here. Even a tiny pea-sized amount makes my face noticeably whiter. Had to carefully apply to neck too due to stark contrast (my neck is actually lighter, lol). Once applied all over face and neck, it looks a bit more natural. But face still looks obviously 'brightened'. ✔So matte it's drying: Looks dry even to others. Not just matte, but my friend teased me about having 'true porcelain skin' and looking parched. I feel a strange tightness. ✔Impossible to cleanse: Even oil cleansers don't dissolve it well... Have to scrub it off like dead skin cells. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinJan 6, 2021
I really dislike the typical slippery texture of sunscreens, but this one feels incredibly soft and powdery. Plus, the scent isn't offensive at all. It's extremely drying and leaves a severe white cast. After applying it in my room, I noticed in the elevator mirror that my face looked ghostly white. This is my second bottle, and while it was fine before, this time it's particularly bad. I think it's making my blemishes worse. If you have dry skin, absolutely avoid this. However, when you're too lazy to do a full makeup routine, applying a small amount carefully can give you a decent look. - gk********Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinJan 4, 2021
Despite the terrible reviews, I couldn't resist my curiosity and bought it anyway - big mistake. I usually love that white cast effect, so I had high hopes. But this one created an ashy cast that didn't apply evenly or beautifully. While it's not sticky, it feels heavy and drying, dramatically emphasizing dead skin cells. It even settles into pores, practically screaming 'Look at me!' The packaging is fresh and pretty, and the click-open lid is convenient. It's a sunscreen, but the brightening effect is hard to control. You might get decent results if your skin is in perfect condition and you apply it very thinly. I regret buying this even after reading the reviews. It might work for those with baby-soft, smooth, flawless complexions - if you're blessed with perfect skin, you might be able to pull it off. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 13, 2020
Unfortunately, this product didn't suit me at all, so I can't find any positives to mention... It has a matte finish, but the ingredients didn't agree with my skin. After just one day of use, I developed a lot of small blemishes. - 04*****Combination SkinSensitive SkinAcne SkinSep 1, 2020
It definitely brightens and evens skin tone while providing a matte finish without any stickiness. It's lightweight and easy to carry around. Sensitive skin reacts immediately. After using it for two days, I experienced side effects like blemishes. Also, the matte finish, which could be a plus for some, might feel drying, so keep that in mind. For those with healthy skin, this is a product you can use directly without applying makeup.
