As for the texture, scent, and particles - it's a powder type that I use by mixing with water to create a foam. It's definitely gentler than other squeeze-type cleansing foams! It's fragrance-free, and the particles are very fine, almost like flour. I love that it's slightly acidic, which is great for my sensitive skin. I have various skin issues like closed comedones and patches of atopic dermatitis, but since using this product consistently, my blemishes have decreased and I haven't had any other skin troubles. After cleansing, there's no squeaky-clean feeling (which is actually better). Even with my combination dehydrated skin, there's absolutely no feeling of tightness. The effectiveness is clear - after switching to this product, I actually felt the difference in my troublesome closed comedones clearing up. I've strongly recommended it to friends struggling with blemishes too! I'm almost upset it's not more well-known... I really, really love using it. I highly recommend using it consistently.
ConsThe inevitable downside of a slightly acidic powder type is that its cleansing effectiveness is a bit weak. I always wear foundation due to my skin concerns, and when I use an exfoliating toner after cleansing once or twice, I still see some residue. So I tend to cleanse about three times with a small amount. It's a bit of a hassle, but I try to accept it given the powder format. Also, if you don't dissolve the powder thoroughly, it could potentially irritate the skin. But this shouldn't be an issue if you make sure to create a good lather before using. It does foam up quite well.

I've been using it for nearly 10 years. The ingredients have changed slightly over time, but it doesn't seem to have changed for the worse. Can't use other cleansers... This one doesn't cause any deep dryness and effectively removes dead skin cells.
ConsThe packaging is a bit outdated, but I guess that's unavoidable with powder-type products...
TipHere's something I do every 2-3 days: When I shower, I start by cleansing my face but don't rinse off the foam. I finish the rest of my shower routine, and then rinse the foam off my face last, like a mask. It's as if I've done a face mask - my dead skin cells are completely smoothed out and my face feels hydrated. Just a little beauty hack I use myself...
