I've been using this concealer for years now. It applies smoothly, blends well, and provides great coverage. Usually, concealers tend to cause some blemishes, but this one hardly causes any issues. The color range is a bit off. Even the 'Bright' shade seems somewhat dark. There's definitely a noticeable darkening effect. After finishing your skincare routine and before applying foundation, use this concealer to cover any problem areas. This method significantly improves both adherence and coverage. However, be aware that if you apply it over foundation, it tends to pill. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinSep 20, 2024
I found the tube-type concealer more convenient to use than the liquid wand type, and it seemed to offer better coverage too. The thick consistency was great - I'd apply a small amount to the back of my hand, then use a brush to spread it thinly. It did an excellent job of hiding red blemishes and dark spots. As time passed, it seemed to meld with my skin, enhancing its coverage even more. After about 8 hours, when I checked in the mirror, the covered areas looked slightly thicker, as if I'd applied more makeup there. While it appeared to lift a tiny bit, it wasn't noticeable unless you looked very closely, so the staying power was impressive. Even though I bought the lightest shade, the color was still quite dark. While the darker shade provided better coverage, it also caused some darkening. When I touched up my makeup, I could see a noticeable difference in color between areas with just foundation and those with the concealer. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinMar 1, 2024
It really covers dark circles well and I've never experienced any blemishes from it. While it wasn't easy to control the amount, even when I applied a lot, it didn't settle into fine lines too badly. There was some slight darkening after a while. Also, it was difficult to apply, making it challenging to use with a brush before work. I had to use my fingers instead. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMar 22, 2023
For my oily/combination skin, it gave a beautiful luminous finish! Especially great coverage for someone like me with redness issues. Unfortunately, it caused some darkening. While the skin finish was pretty, it made my complexion appear darker. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMar 2, 2023
- The coverage is truly excellent. It covers blemishes almost perfectly, leaving a flawless finish. If you apply it thinly, let it set slightly, then use a very fine brush to dab it on freckles or blemishes, it covers even better than most pencil concealers! It also does a great job hiding dark circles and covering redness around the nose area. - The adherence seems pretty good too. Compared to other concealers I've used before, I noticed less transfer onto my mask. - The color... oh no... it's way too dark... it completely ruins the complexion... It seems to be around shade 22 or 23, but it's too dark for my skin, so I have to mix it with other products to match my tone. Otherwise, it's unusable... If I just dab it on blemishes over foundation, those spots become noticeably darker... And it has a slightly reddish-gray undertone? The color is a bit different from other concealers in similar shades. - I felt like there was some slight darkening of the skin. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 28, 2023
1. Coverage - The coverage is fantastic... Using a flat brush to conceal pores or slightly subsided blemishes works wonders. It really covers well, effectively masking blemishes and redness. I'd say the coverage is truly excellent. 2. Ingredients - I'm the type who always scrutinizes ingredients when buying skincare. After thorough research, I found this Hanskin product to be the least likely to irritate skin. I checked YouTube reviews, Hwahae reviews, and ingredient lists before purchasing. The formulation seems trustworthy. If you remove it properly before bed, it shouldn't cause many blemishes for most people, though individual experiences may vary. 3. Matte finish - I'm listing this as a pro because I have oily skin... Those with dry skin might find it a bit drying. It's a matte, slightly thick product. However, it doesn't set too quickly, and touch-ups are easy. 4. Longevity - I don't use foundation separately. Instead, I mix this concealer with sunscreen to create my ideal complexion! Then I apply another layer of concealer. Checking later, I was pleased to see it hadn't broken down much. Note that I used powder and this was in winter. Does it break down oddly in summer? Not at all. It might lift slightly in summer, but most of it stays put. With good powder application, this product works hard to last. 5. This is a side note, but I'm actually on my 4th repurchase... It's just my holy grail concealer... Who would have thought the first concealer I bought as a makeup novice would become my go-to product? 1. Darkening - While it didn't bother me much, I noticed it when concealing dark circles. The concealer tends to darken over time, so I ended up using a different product just for my dark circles. 2. Dark shade Even the 'Bright' shade is dark. I kept repurchasing knowing this, but if you're expecting a truly brightening concealer, look elsewhere... Note that even the 'Bright' shade of this product is on the darker side. In winter, go easy on the powder. Since it's quite matte, too much powder can make it look overly dry. *In the photo, the left is the old product and the right is the renewed version* - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 2, 2022
The best thing about this product is definitely its ingredients! Many concealers tend to have not-so-great ingredients, but this one stands out with its relatively good formulation despite being a concealer. You can apply it without worrying about burdening your skin. While some people have mentioned severe darkening, I personally didn't notice much of that. However, I did find that as time passes, it does tend to get a bit oily on the skin. - Hwahae UserDry SkinOct 19, 2022
Works hard to absorb well: The texture is moisturizing yet substantial, feeling more like a foundation or BB cream than a concealer. This contributes to its excellent absorption. Great adherence: It adheres particularly well when covering larger areas rather than spot-concealing. Keep this in mind when applying! Dark and grayish tone: Despite being the lightest shade, it's still quite dark. It tends to turn even grayer and darker over time, which can make covered areas look noticeably darker than the rest of your skin. Difficult to control amount: Without a dedicated concealer applicator, it's challenging to dispense the right amount. You'll likely need a separate concealer brush for optimal application. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 12, 2022
While it does contain some ingredients to be cautious about, I haven't experienced any particular blemishes from this concealer, even with my super sensitive and very oily skin. I've been using the Bright and Light shades on and off for about two years. It provides excellent coverage as desired. My skin is generally quite red - not as much as my lip color, but enough to be considered 'really red'. I apply about a quarter of my pinky nail's worth, along with sunscreen. It layers well, allowing for multiple applications without caking. I was wondering what people meant by severe darkening. When I squeeze some onto the back of my hand and start applying it to my left cheek, by the time I get to my right cheek, the concealer on my hand has already started to oxidize and change color. However, this color change isn't noticeable once it's applied to the skin. To minimize any dull or yellowish appearance, try applying it with a white-tinted base. Also, start with a tiny amount and build up coverage as needed - a little goes a long way! You'll be surprised how well it covers even with minimal product. - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinFeb 23, 2022
The coverage is truly exceptional. After using other brands, trying this one was a complete game-changer. I have skin with a lot of acne scars, but even a small amount provided excellent coverage. The coverage was so good that I was willing to overlook the drawbacks mentioned below! Texture / Minimal Dryness: Despite having a thick consistency, it caused the least dryness among all the concealers I've used. Since it covers well with just a small amount, there was minimal caking. Ingredients: The ingredients are quite good, so you can use it with peace of mind. This was one of the reasons I bought it. Darkening: This is the product's biggest flaw. It's really severe and happens quickly - almost as soon as you apply it. Even though I use shade 21, it creates noticeable patches on my face. In my opinion, people with very fair skin (shade numbers starting with 1) might find it difficult to use. Shade Range: I wish there were more shade options available. If they released lighter shades, I'd stock up on them. I don't understand why such a popular item only comes in three colors.
