I think it would be great for those with oily skin types.
ConsI didn't have any blemishes with Innisfree's PDRN line, but after using this, I'm noticing some breakouts.
TipThe product seems to have different effects on various skin types. While it may be suitable for oily or combination skin due to its light consistency and non-irritating formula, it might not agree with all skin types. Some users may experience breakouts, so it's important to patch test and monitor your skin's reaction when trying new products.

While there's no dramatic improvement, I think consistent use will show results. I'm currently on my second bottle.
ConsAdmittedly, it's not as effective as retinol in terms of results. However, since it's not irritating, it might be good for those just starting out with retinoids.

Unlike The Ordinary's oil formulation, which feels sticky and doesn't absorb well, this emulsion version absorbs well and leaves a clean finish. It's not too harsh, making it ideal for those with oily skin looking to start their retinol journey.
ConsThe need to refrigerate can be quite inconvenient if you don't have a skincare fridge. True to The Ordinary's products, it has an honest chemical scent. Also, since it's not available in Olive Young stores, it's difficult to test offline. It's a shame that this product, which ranks high in satisfaction among The Ordinary's range, seems to be less well-known.
TipAvoid storing in sunlight. Preferably keep refrigerated.

My skin seems to have gained a bit more resilience. However, the results aren't dramatically noticeable.
ConsI used it thinking there would be no irritation, but I felt a slight tingling sensation. It doesn't last long though. Also, it feels a bit rich on the skin.

Compared to retinol, it causes almost no irritation, yet it instantly smooths skin texture. Being an emulsion type, it absorbs without any stickiness, helps control excess sebum, and I actually saw improvements in blemish care. I highly recommend trying this if you're wary of retinol or have experienced side effects.
ConsWhile it might be slightly less effective than original retinol, it's undoubtedly superior to most anti-wrinkle products available on the market.
TipI believe this is the perfect choice for those worried about side effects from traditional retinol, those who have experienced such effects, or anyone just starting their skincare journey.

I'm also using a 5% squalane product, but for some reason, this 2% emulsion type seems to be more effective.
ConsThe major drawback of using retinol products is that they can make your skin dry. For the first three days, I wondered if it would dry out my skin... and yes, it definitely does! Before using retinol, my combination dehydrated skin was fine with just toner and moisturizer. But after using it every night for a week, those two steps in the morning are far from enough. My skin quickly feels tight and parched... I had to add an extra hydrating essence.
TipSince I've been using high concentrations of AHA and BHA for a long time, I didn't need an adjustment period. I'm alternating between the 2% emulsion and 5% squalane every other day.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by how gentle it is. As this is my first time trying a retinol product, I was a bit worried. On the first night, I carefully applied about 3 drops along with other cica emulsions and ampoules for extra protection. Since I didn't experience any side effects, I increased it to about 5 drops, and it still felt fine. I'm hoping to see improvements with consistent use!
ConsThe scent reminds me of rubber clay... I've been breaking out a bit, but I'm not sure if it's because of this product or my face mask. It's hard to say for certain. Shouldn't blemishes be disappearing instead of appearing? This is concerning...
TipMake sure to moisturize well with cica products beforehand, then apply this product in small amounts.

I bought it at Olive Young today as I ran out of my previous retinol product. I had been using a ROC product from overseas before this, but it wasn't as good as the Dr. Different product I used when I first started with retinol. I was worried this might not suit me either, but I'm very satisfied - there was no irritation, and when I woke up, my pores looked more refined. After some research, I found out that the active ingredient is more stable than retinol while being even more effective. The Ordinary brand has various retinol and retinoid products in different concentrations. I chose the emulsion product because I personally don't like the feel of squalane, which is mixed in some of their other formulations. The texture is less oily than squalane-based products, but it still leaves a glow on your face after application. If you prefer a matte, quickly absorbing formula, this might not be for you. The consistency is thin and runny, with a dropper applicator - sometimes it can even drip onto the floor if you're not careful when applying directly to your face. The color is the typical yellow of retinol products, and it's nearly fragrance-free. Whether you're experienced with retinol products or a first-time user, I think this would be easy to incorporate into your routine.
ConsNothing really. Maybe the inconvenience of purchasing? It seems to be only available online, and when I tried to repurchase, it was out of stock, so I had to wait a few days.
TipUse only at night and make sure to apply sunscreen during the day.

I can feel the difference every time I cleanse. It really helps with dead skin cells and improves skin texture. The next morning after application, my skin feels incredibly soft without any flakiness, making cleansing a pleasant experience. It's not as drying as I expected. I was worried about retinol products being drying and irritating, but this wasn't as harsh as I had prepared for. There was only a slight irritation on the first day of use, but none after that. It quickly took care of my blemishes. Even though I didn't have acne as a student, I started getting occasional breakouts as an adult, which was stressful. But since using this, I haven't had any blemishes at all.
ConsThe short shelf life of 3 months means you need to use it quickly. There's not much leeway. I haven't seen significant effects on pores and blackheads yet. The blackheads seem to have reduced slightly, but I'm using other products too, so I can't attribute it solely to this one.
TipI'm using it twice a week, and make sure to apply sunscreen the next day. It's good to use it alongside soothing products.

First off, the results are incredibly quick. After applying it, my skin feels noticeably smoother the very next day. I'm genuinely happy when I wash my face in the morning after using this product... What's more, it doesn't cause any irritation. We all know retinol is famous for potentially causing skin sensitivity. This product, however, is a retinoid formulation designed to minimize irritation, and I can honestly say I've never once felt any discomfort while using it. Retinol is a type of retinoid, and other retinoid compounds include tretinoin (Stiva-A ointment) and adapalene (Differin gel). Tretinoin and adapalene require a prescription, while retinol is relatively gentle (though less dramatically effective) and can be used in cosmetics. (That said, retinol is still one of the most potent ingredients in skincare.) The Ordinary's Granactive Retinoid (HPR) seems to be even less irritating than retinol products. The texture is also quite nice. The Ordinary's Granactive Retinoid comes in both a squalane formulation and this emulsion. Before trying this one, I used the squalane version, but I didn't like its slippery, oily feel. In contrast, this product spreads easily, feels hydrating, and absorbs quickly. Considering the lack of irritation, effectiveness, and price, this is an ideal product for retinol beginners. (I've now moved on to Paula's Choice Resist Retinol Serum (0.1% retinol), and I'll compare it to this product after I've used it for a while.)
ConsIn their effort to maintain affordability, the product's stability is somewhat compromised. I understand it needs to be refrigerated after opening and has a 3-month shelf life. While it's an incredibly gentle and effective bang for your buck that shows remarkable skin improvement, I'm planning to switch to Paula's Choice 0.1% Retinol Serum due to stability concerns. Nevertheless, I still believe this is the best option for those new to retinoids.
Tip- Retinoids work well when layered with niacinamide - Since retinoids can be drying, pay extra attention to hydration on the day you use it and the day after. If you're also using AHAs or BHAs, make sure to space them out - Due to photosensitivity, it's best to apply retinoids at night. Be sure to apply sunscreen diligently the next day
