Suitable for combination dehydrated skin.
ConsThere's a slight artificial scent, and it absorbs so quickly that it doesn't feel very moisturizing.

ConsPersonally, I'm not a fan of fragranced skincare products, and this one had a strong lemon scent. I experienced slight eye irritation and a bit of tingling around the eye area and T-zone. After applying my usual barrier cream on top, the dryness and tingling sensation disappeared.

Price: Snagged a 100ml bottle for 20,000 won during an Olive Young sale. Real Barrier products can be a bit pricey when not on sale compared to other creams, so I'm satisfied with this deal! Application: Despite being called a soothing cream, it's not as sticky as aloe gel. It absorbs well without leaving a tacky feeling.
ConsScent: Initial impression is tea tree, but after application, it leaves a strange medicinal smell reminiscent of mosquito repellent bracelets. Skin feel: After applying, there's an odd sensation as if the skin is slightly numbed. Ingredients: I'm kicking myself for not checking the ingredient list before buying. I've gone through 5 bottles of their Extreme Cream and trusted the brand blindly. Why on earth are there 3 different fragrances?! Hydration: I applied this after a 3-minute pack and essence. Without those steps, I suspect it might have felt drying. Blemishes: While I haven't used it long enough to see major issues, I've noticed two small, reddish pimples (the kind that subside quickly) in my butterfly zone. There's also slight redness in various areas of my face.
TipIf you're sensitive to fragrances, it's best to avoid this. However, it might be suitable for those with oily skin who don't have fragrance sensitivities and are looking for a lightweight option. It's been a while since I've had so many disappointments to write about a product...

Not sticky at all. The squeeze tube packaging is hygienic.
ConsIt's way too light. Even for oily skin, it's drying. The fragrance is overly artificial...

I've been using this product consistently for over a week since receiving it! First off, I loved the attention to detail with this product! The sticker on the container is easily removable for recycling. Also, unlike typical spatulas that come with products and are hard to store or keep clean, this one can be hygienically stored right on the container. These small touches really impressed me! Now, let's talk about the product itself. With summer here, even a short trip outside can leave your face hot and flushed, especially with a mask on. After cleansing, applying this cream noticeably reduces that heat! It absorbs quickly, making it perfect for summer use with its cooling effect and hydration boost!
ConsInitially, when I first applied this product, the cooling sensation felt more like a burning sensation. While this improved with continued use, those with sensitive skin should definitely do a patch test first! Also, while I've gotten used to the scent now, at first it had a minty, somewhat medicinal smell. If you're sensitive to fragrances, I'd recommend smelling it in-store before purchasing!
TipOn hot days when your face feels overheated and irritated, try applying a generous layer of this cream like a sleeping pack before bed. It helps reduce the heat and improves your skin texture by morning!

Texture: It's definitely thicker than a soothing gel, but I'm not sure how it would work for dry skin. As someone with oily skin, I didn't find it overly rich, and it left a very hydrating feel. 2. Calming effect: What I loved most was its soothing properties. It has a cooling effect, which is great after thorough cleansing when your skin might feel a bit irritated. I applied this alone, without any toner or essence, and it felt like it replenished moisture while calming my skin. However, if you're expecting a major calming effect, you might be a bit disappointed. I also appreciated the built-in spatula - it's a hygienic and smart touch. Using your fingers to scoop out product can introduce bacteria, so this is a great feature! Overall impression: It offers some calming effects and seems to balance oil and moisture well. While it might not be mind-blowingly amazing, it's a solid product without any major drawbacks.
ConsThe scent is quite divisive... To me, it smells like a car air freshener and feels a bit overwhelming. Personally, I really disliked the fragrance.
TipEveryone's skin type and oil-moisture balance is different, so my method might not work for everyone. But the most effective approach I've found for my blemishes is minimizing makeup use. On days when I don't wear makeup at all, I only cleanse with water. However, since going makeup-free forever isn't realistic, on days when I do wear makeup, I double cleanse with an oil cleanser followed by a foam cleanser. Then, I use a face cooler to apply Real Barrier Soothing Cream while massaging. This helps calm irritated skin, and by the next morning, my skin feels much less inflamed.

I don't typically use many skincare products (just toner and moisturizer), and since it's summer, I've been using mostly hydrating products. This cream was perfect for the season without any shortcomings. It felt like a soothing product with a touch of moisturizing power. For my dry skin, it was ideal as a summer cream.
ConsThose who prefer fragrance-free products might find this off-putting. It has a strong lemon-like scent. At first, it felt refreshing, but the more I used it, rather than getting used to it, I found myself wishing they had toned down the fragrance.
TipI think it would be even better if used chilled. At night, I like to apply it generously like a sleeping mask. The next day, I can do a light skincare routine and apply makeup easily, which is great.

You can feel your skin becoming soothed and calmed.
ConsAs someone sensitive to fragrances, I find the scent of the Real Barrier Soothing Cream a bit artificial. This makes me slightly hesitant when applying it.

Reviews by The Hwahae Testers undergo the same strict verification process as regular reviews, and if they don't meet our standards, revisions will be requested.ProsIt doesn't leave a sticky or slippery residue. The bouncy jelly texture is a joy to look at and use.
Cons1. The spatula is inconvenient to use. The cream gets on the lid where you rest the spatula, so you can't put it anywhere. The spatula, being like regular plastic, doesn't clean off easily. 2. The scent is quite unpleasant. It smells like medicine, ointment, or mosquito repellent. Even after absorption, a strong cosmetic smell lingers. 3. It feels more like a burning mint sensation than a cooling effect. It's about 1/10th the feeling of getting toothpaste on your skin. You might not even notice it if you're not paying attention. It could feel irritating or hot for those with sensitive skin. If you're looking for a cooling effect, you're better off applying toothpaste. 4. Lacks hydration. If you prefer moisturizers that feel deeply hydrating, this isn't it. It feels like it's for dry skin when applying, but then feels more suited for oily skin as it absorbs. Instead of combining the best of both worlds, it seems to have the drawbacks of both.

Ingredients: First off, I liked that the ingredients are gentle. There are some potentially allergenic components, but I suspect they're listed due to the aromatic oils used for fragrance. The scent isn't overpowering and fades after application, which is nice. 2. Texture: As a gel-type moisturizer, it applies smoothly and lightly, making it perfect for cooling and calming the skin during hot and humid seasons. While lightweight, it creates a moisture barrier, making it a great hydrator for combination skin types in this weather.
Cons1. Fragrance: Personally, I prefer unscented products, so I would have liked if this was fragrance-free. The scent reminds me of a soda-flavored ice cream? It's not my favorite, but since it's not too strong and disappears after application, I was able to use it.
TipThose with dry skin might find it less hydrating. As someone with combination dehydrated skin, I felt it lacked moisture in drier environments. This product would be ideal for use in midsummer or paired with a hydrating ampoule. I also found it effective to layer the product multiple times.
