The coverage is decent and it's more moisturizing than I expected, which is great. There's not really anything bad, but you might notice a slight pilling effect. - Hwahae UserOily SkinAcne SkinMay 23, 2022
As someone with oily skin, I usually find moisturizing or dewy products uncomfortable as they quickly make my skin greasy. However, when I use this followed by a no-sebum powder, it keeps oil at bay for at least half a day! If you don't apply it on freshly cleansed skin, it tends to pill and not adhere well. Highly recommended for those with oily skin types. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 13, 2022
Despite having a rather thick and heavy texture, it still manages to even out my skin tone naturally. When I apply powder on top, the staying power is quite decent. The price is a steal! I got it online for less than 10,000 won in a buy-one-get-one-free deal. It contains eight potentially harmful ingredients. Even though my face isn't particularly dry, I can feel a sense of dryness, and on days when I haven't exfoliated, dead skin cells are noticeably visible. It tends to pill easily. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinAug 23, 2021
I've been using this makeup sunscreen exclusively lately! It brightens my complexion and even covers some redness. Compared to other sunscreens, it doesn't cause any blemishes on my skin. I absolutely love it! I'm already on my 6th bottle... It can pill a bit when I have a lot of dead skin cells... But that's more of an issue with my skin. If I exfoliate and moisturize thoroughly before applying, it creates a beautiful skin finish. It leaves my skin feeling perfectly matte. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinMay 16, 2021
1. It naturally brightens your complexion. I especially apply it generously on my neck. After applying makeup, using this on the neck helps even out the skin tone. 2. It's budget-friendly. The amount you get for the price is really reasonable! You need to apply plenty of hydration to your face and let it absorb a bit before using this product. Without proper hydration, it feels rough and doesn't apply smoothly. However, if you don't let the moisturizer absorb fully, the product will pill. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinMar 30, 2021
Great for evening out skin tone and providing coverage to hide blemishes. Applying too much can cause pilling, making it difficult to use sufficient sunscreen and leaving a white cast. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMar 19, 2021
It applies with a nice white finish, making it great to use as a base! The way it absorbs was a bit disappointing. If there's even a little moisture on your skin, it tends to pill. Instead of rubbing it in, try patting it gently onto your skin for better application. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinSensitive SkinJan 26, 2021
I've been using Holika sunscreen for over 3 years, stocking up during sales, and have gone through about 8 tubes. It has many advantages! Ingredients: I have sensitive skin that gets itchy and breaks out easily with the wrong products, but this one hasn't caused any issues in over 3 years of use. Texture: Personally, I find it lightweight and not suffocating on the skin. It's so comfortable that I often wear it instead of cushion foundation or liquid foundation for everyday use. Color: As a fair winter cool-toned person, I often hear that other cushions make me look sallow and dull. However, Holika sunscreen, being a makeup sunscreen, has a pink base that actually brightens my complexion rather than making it yellow. This is probably why I keep coming back to it despite a few drawbacks. For me, this is its best feature! 1. Dryness The first drawback that comes to mind is its drying effect. In winter, if you don't properly moisturize, it can leave white patches on your forehead or cheeks. However, this could be seen as an advantage for those who prefer a matte finish. 2. Pilling, Settling into nose creases While it's not an issue in summer, during dry winters, if you apply a lot of skincare underneath, this product can pill slightly over time. It tends to pill on the forehead and nose areas, which might cause it to settle into nose creases. However, I don't think it's too severe. Since it can be a bit drying, I like to mix it with emulsion in a 2:1 ratio (sunscreen to emulsion). This gives a nice glow and works well! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinJan 13, 2021
It has a brightening effect that naturally evens out the skin tone, giving you a radiant complexion It's quite dry, so when used alone, it can feel a bit tight on the skin. When applied before makeup, it tends to pill - Hwahae UserNormal SkinAcne SkinJan 8, 2021
I've been using this brightening moisturizer with SPF for 7 years now, since I was a freshman in high school! I'm so addicted to it that I don't even want to do my makeup without it, and I'll be thinking about it all day if I don't use it. First off, it has a pink base, so rather than making you look white, it gives you a natural, soft glow. Compared to other brightening sunscreens, I think the lasting power and adherence are insanely good! I seriously can't recommend it enough... I don't understand why everyone isn't using this! 1. Natural brightening effect with long-lasting power + matte but moisturized (dry on the outside, hydrated on the inside) I went on a week-long training trip to Thailand during the rainy summer season. It was so hot and humid that I had to give up on makeup, but honestly... thanks to this sunscreen, I got so many compliments from my male and female colleagues about how fair and good my skin looked. I just applied the sunscreen, dabbed on a bit of foundation to finish my base, and skipped powder. There was no point in applying powder as it would only dry out my face, and I didn't have any makeup to set anyway. 2. Convenience (10-minute makeup routine) As someone who's not great with makeup and loves to sleep in, I go to work with just (eyebrows + eyeliner (using eyebrow shadow) + lipstick + sunscreen). My colleagues often tell me my makeup looks natural and not heavy (they say my skin looks fair)... Well, I guess that's because I barely wear any makeup! These days, with COVID, I only take off my mask to eat, so I've cut down my makeup routine to just this sunscreen, which has really shortened my getting-ready time. 3. Decent coverage for a bare-faced look + No transfer/sliding I have some dark circles and blemishes around my eyes, but my skin is generally clear. This sunscreen covers just enough without feeling unnatural, perfect for that 'no-makeup makeup' look or for pretending you're not wearing anything at all. For example, in the early stages of dating my ex, when we were just friends hanging out at home, I didn't want to keep my full makeup on late into the night, and it felt awkward to touch up at home. So I just applied this Holika sunscreen and some tinted lip balm, claiming I was bare-faced. He totally believed it and was genuinely amazed! (I'm so bad at makeup that I once went to school with eyeshadow and got told I looked like a panda.) But this guy didn't just admire - he suddenly touched my cheek, which startled me. However, there was zero transfer or sliding, so my 'perfect crime' was successful! (It might transfer a bit to your phone screen if you talk for a long time) 4. Value for money + Sun protection + No blemishes They often have buy-one-get-one-free deals, and it's already cheap, so it's the ultimate value for money. I stock up on 4 tubes when I'm about to run out... To think something this good is even a sunscreen! I don't need to use a separate brightening cream, just this sunscreen, making it my longest-standing beauty product♡ Oh, and I swear that in the approximately 7 years I've been using the Holika sunscreen, I've never once had blemishes because of this product! ※When I'm not feeling my best, even if I apply my base makeup carefully, it can pill and slide like other brightening products... Sometimes darkening happens faster than usual! Also, I tend to get oily in my T-zone and around my eyes, so by the time I leave work, it's either worn off or my dark circles are visible again (though it doesn't get shiny). ※The coverage is really only enough to hide small, faint blemishes. It won't cover redness around the nose, moles, acne, scars, or dark under-eye circles. It doesn't cover in a messy way, so if you have naturally clear skin, you could apply this sunscreen for brightening and blemish correction, claim you're bare-faced, and people might actually believe you! ※I'm the type to enthusiastically promote products I like, so I've been telling all my friends about it, but not many of them have made it their go-to like I have... I wonder why... This just goes to show that skin really varies from person to person, so I recommend testing it out and buying it if you like it! *For me, hydration is the most important thing when doing my makeup (I hate the feeling of dryness and tightness), so when applying sunscreen, I dot it on my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks, then pat it in with a disposable cushion puff (the pink ones from Daiso) that I've dampened with water! *This is my skincare routine, in case it's helpful: Toner pad - Essence (watery) - Ointment/Cream - Moisturizer (not too thick) - Sunscreen - Foundation/Compact powder + A light dusting of powder only in summer
