After moisturizing with the toner, I applied it and loved how hydrating and silky smooth it felt on my skin. However, after a short while, my eyes started to sting and I felt a tingling sensation. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinDec 22, 2023
This product definitely makes a noticeable difference when applied, to the point where it's surprisingly effective I'm not sure if it just doesn't suit my skin or if my skin is trying to adjust, but there's a slight itchiness that makes me a bit sad. Despite that, it's still a product I want to keep using - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAtopy SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 7, 2019
Application: The oil formula applies more smoothly compared to regular serums. However, you need to pump twice on each cheek to cover the entire face. Weight: I was initially concerned it might be too rich being an oil. But since it's used at the serum stage, it doesn't feel overly heavy. Absorption: When first applied, there's a cool, slightly minty sensation that made me think, 'Is this penetrating my skin?' I laid on my pillow right after applying, and unlike regular oils, it didn't leave marks. Hydration: If asked about this product's greatest strength, I'd say hydration! My foundation used to crack over time, but after using this, all signs of deep dryness or dehydration disappeared. It's perfect for those who can't stand extreme dryness. Radiance: After using this at night, I noticed my face looked brighter overall in the morning. While not a permanent whitening effect, it gives a temporary 'lit-from-within' glow. Fragrance: Often, strong cosmetic scents can be off-putting, but this product has a pleasant floral aroma that makes application enjoyable. Blemishes: After using this product for the first time overnight, my entire face broke out the next day. Not only did I get tons of tiny bumps, but I also developed painful pimples. Thinking it might be an adjustment period, I tried to keep using it, but the itching and pain were too intense. I had to stop for about 3 days. After my skin calmed down, I tried again when I was well-rested, thinking fatigue might have been a factor. However, the same reaction occurred. Despite considering various factors and changing variables, the consistent breakouts suggest my super sensitive skin was the issue. While it was too itchy and painful for me to use, this product does have its merits, so I gave it to my mom. The effects were even more pronounced on her 50+ skin. It seems like an excellent product for those without sensitive skin! It would make a great Mother's Day or Grandmother's Day gift. - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinMay 6, 2019
I tried L'Occitane's serum as part of The Hwahae Testers! ✅ Skin Type I have typical combination skin with an oily T-zone and dry U-zone. As the season changes, my sebum production is increasing, while my U-zone still feels tight with deep dryness. My butterfly zone has large pores, and I used to have extremely oily, acne-prone skin when I was younger, leaving some scars here and there. I thought my skin would become more resilient with age, but it seems to be getting more sensitive. ✅ First Impression & Texture I actually had this serum in my cart since fall, considering it for my severe deep dryness. It has good reviews, and the ingredients are quite decent for a department store product. The packaging is adorably compact, fitting perfectly in one hand, with a twist-lock mechanism on the dispenser - a thoughtful touch that earns a thumbs up for first impressions! As for the texture, I was a bit apprehensive since I'm not fond of the slippery feel or surface-sitting sensation of oils. But to my surprise, it wasn't off-putting at all! I had expected an oily or gel-like consistency due to the floating capsules, but it was actually lighter and more fluid than imagined. As you gently massage it in, allowing the capsules to dissolve and penetrate the skin, it absorbs incredibly lightly. It's hard to describe, but unlike typical oils that leave a shiny residue on facial hair or skin, this serum seems to disappear - as if you hadn't applied anything at all. For my combination skin that's a bit wary of heavy oils, the texture is definitely a double thumbs up! ✅ Skin Improvement While I know this product contains anti-aging ingredients, I unexpectedly saw brightening effects. I'm not sure if the deep dryness was dramatically improved, but when I touched my face the next morning during cleansing, I could definitely feel that my previously thick-feeling skin had become soft and supple. Overall, my complexion looked brighter. +++++++ Additional Review +++++++++++++++++++++ I'm adding to my 2019 review: Initially, I had frequent blemishes, so I set it aside for a while. But when I tried it again during the changing seasons, it suited me so well that I've been using it consistently ever since. I'm not sure why I had that reaction before, as it works great for me now. It's become a favorite product, helping significantly with improving skin texture and deep dryness. It feels like it's plumping up my skin from within. Using it with a clean-finishing water-based toner and a low-oil moisturizer is perfect for the May weather! The reason I had to deduct one star isn't so much a drawback as it is due to the occurrence of blemishes... :( On the first day, after using my usual toner to even out my skin tone, I applied two pumps of the serum alone all over my face. But about ten minutes after application, I started feeling an itchy, crawling sensation in various spots. When I looked in the mirror, my pores had enlarged and there was red swelling. Since I occasionally experience allergic reactions when changing skincare products, I tried to endure it, but eventually had to wash it off. The next day, my skin had hardened and developed a rash with small bumps, showing signs of dermatitis. I spent two days calming it with aloe and cica products. When I tried again the next day, I applied a hydrating essence first as a 'buffer', followed by the serum and a light moisturizer. This reduced the allergic reaction, but it still flared up a bit. It seems there might be an ingredient that doesn't agree with me, or perhaps my current skin condition can't handle something in it. It's really disappointing... Rather than a tip, this is a method I want to try once my skin calms down. When you pump the serum, you can see oil capsules inside. Testing on the back of your hand, you might notice that when the capsules burst, they don't mix evenly with the serum and tend to clump slightly as they spread. So, I'm thinking of dispensing it into my palm first, mixing it thoroughly, and then applying it to my face! - Hwahae UserCombination SkinAcne SkinSensitive SkinApr 28, 2019
Finally, my first Hwahae giveaway win! Let's give it a round of applause! I'll write an honest review. First off, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous - it's like the night sky. I'm truly moved by its beauty. The scent is very subtle, like fresh grass or a natural fragrance. It's easy to control the amount you use, which is satisfying. The consistency is just right - not too runny, so it doesn't drip everywhere. I have quite severe deep dryness, and while this doesn't make my skin completely hydrated, it does a decent job of preventing dryness. I'm satisfied with that. Perhaps because of this, my base makeup doesn't separate and applies well these days. On this point, it's really very good! I'm not sure if it's because of this product, but I've noticed a slight itching sensation. - Hwahae UserDry SkinApr 26, 2019
First, the best part was... I won the event! What a surprise! The gradient purple color and yellow oil beads are so pretty, I spent a while just admiring the bottle. As shown in the photo, when you flip the container, you can see the serum mixed with the beads. When I first squeezed some onto the back of my hand, the yellow beads didn't come out with just one or two pumps. I think that's because it was the first use. When applied to the back of my hand, it absorbs quickly and feels hydrating. Oh... this is nice! The scent is subtle. I asked my cat what she thought of the fragrance, and she seemed to like it, sniffing it for a while. My kitty really loves the scent of cosmetics... Finally! After washing my face, I applied three layers of Dokdo toner, then pumped some onto the back of my hand. As you can see in the photo, the yellow beads come out with the serum. When I mixed it and spread it all over my face, even though it contains oil, it doesn't feel greasy or sticky. It absorbs into the skin quickly, leaving only a moisturized feeling. My mother tried it too and likes it. She has dry skin and always chooses products with oil, so this one with both serum and oil seems to suit her skin well. When I woke up in the morning and checked my face, it still felt moisturized. I have dry skin too, and if I don't apply my skincare properly, I often feel tightness in the morning. But even though I only applied toner, serum, and cream before bed, my face still feels hydrated! In the morning, my mother also said it suits her well and she likes it. It's not really a downside, but... My mother applied it in the evening and said it was fine, but I felt a slight itching for about 5 minutes after applying. I think it's because it's a new product for me. People with sensitive skin might feel it more. When I applied it after washing my face in the morning, it was fine without any irritation. I guess I needed some time to adjust. Other than that, there weren't any downsides. Oh... one more thing... the price is... a bit high... Since the oil beads come out together, I squeezed some onto the back of my hand first to mix the serum and oil well before using it.
